95 Points

Wednesday, July 20, 2005 - From recent memory. On the occasion of a big birthday, we cracked on this bad boy and decanted for 4 hours. What an unbelievable treat! This wine, made in the most modern of styles, literally jumps out of the glass with black fruit and faint floral notes that I attribute to the Cab Franc. There is black pipe tobacco, asphalt and wet leaves mixed in with cassis, black cherries and oily leather. It was incredibly mouthfilling, balanced and round, with delicious mid palate and 90+ second finish. My only knock was a bit of heat that is to be expected. I do not think that this will have the longevity of a first growth but with the way that it is drinking right now, I really don't care.
