Looks almost black in the glass, with purple edges. Nose shows herbs, some eucalypt , and earth. Tastes of concentrated, rich black fruits, with the herbs and earth in the background. Finish is long and nicely drying, with liquorice, menthol plus well balanced levels of alcohol, acid, and fine soft tannins.

outstanding. this was just drinking beautifully when i opened it. deep rich fruit structure, long finish. really a solid, straight up the middle, big but not too big aussie shiraz. good earth tones and oak, but subtle, and behind a quite big mouthful of fruit. good structure.

Aged spectacularly and was a pleasant example of a red blend. Had ben aged carefully that paid off with a very mature flavour. Needed to be decanted to get the full effect

Decent value - liked it better than my last one. Hasn't evolved discernably so i doubt further time will do anything but further concentrate the already too high alcohol. On the plus side (to me), it's rustic and has a moderate finish.

When I first opened this I thought it was badly corked. However, I hung with it a few minutes, and the stink blew off leaving behind a wine with a stunning nose of eucalyptus. I'm glad I gave it another chance, as this is amazing, black stuff that is surprisingly lithe. This enters the palate with a eucalyptus & wintergreen lift, a solid mentholated mid-palate, and a long, slightly drying finish showing structure and quite a bit of acidity. I haven't had much wine from Australia of the "less extracted variety", so this is a surprising change, showing some real elegance.

Savory... Rosemary, earth, espresso. Some notes of kirsch and brandied cherries. Could use food, maybe leg of lamb.

Grant Balfour, nice blend. Drying and surprisingly good, a bit bitter.
