My type of zin. Mountain fruit that produces an earthy, dark berry and smokey nose. A spicey finish complements this well rounded zin. Good for burgers or a rich meaty dish like short ribs. Can also be a sipper.

Very much a different wine than what I had only three months ago as it was much rounded this time around (still outstanding the first time). Nose was dark fruit balanced with spice and slight smokiness; taste was dark fruits, smoke and earth. Alcohol was evident, but much less so than previously. Medium to long finish. Overall, really great Zin that went so very well with sticky blackberry baby back ribs.

A nose of intense currants and spice, dark garnet in color. A full bodied and robust Zin, with blackberries, black currants, jammy with a spicy finish, layers of favor. I am not sure what WS and WE were trying but this was a delicious Zin.

Darker than dark ruby, but not opaque; initial nose of bright red fruits like strawberry and raspberry, with black cherry and some light spice; taste of black cherry, menthol, quite a bit of tartness. Mid-palate is very nice with subtle smokiness and dirt, not terribly jammy; medium finnish that left me wanting more.
Just a great drinking Zin. This is fruit-forward, but very far from being Smuckers jammy. I've had previous vintages of Franus Zins from the Brandlin vineyards and all have been quite wonderful. The immediate nose was just very pleasant but the first few tastes were a little more tart than what I had expected. After an hour, the tartness mellowed and craftsmanship really came through with a variety of flavors and sweetness, but nothing over-the-top. Very curious what day two brings.

Big and concentrated, this is a dark jammy zin that holds the high alcohol content well. Plenty of black cherry, dark plum and raspberry syrup with a long finish.

Drank over two nights, liked better on the second day. Red fruits on the nose, plums on the palate. A great wine from a great vineyard.
