Pnp. Opened tight. It had a minute about an hour after opening where the dark berry cherry fruit came through, but that didn't last long. Perhaps it was our palate or the other wine overpowered it? We don't know but it was disappointing. If I had more I'd probably sit on it and see what happened because today it was a waste . Astringent.

Much better in the summer ( go figure it's a CNDP!) with some great Turkish grilled lamb. Sweet and v easy to drink, lots of black fruit. Lovely seductive wine but not the complex CNDP we really adore

I last tasted this 5 years ago and was disappointed by a general crudity. Not now. It is definitely a hot climate wine with dried fruit (prunes?) as the most obvious descriptor! Perhaps black olives and licorice too. But it is complex and now smooth on the palate with excellent length. A bit hot due to high alcohol levels perhaps but still a pleasure.

This wine continues to drink well. Lots of darks fruits, garrigue and dried plums and a little licorice. A good finish to it indicates it will last for a few more years.

I opened the bottle for about an hour before pouring. It has a medium ruby color, with a small amount of bricking at the rim. The wine offered ripe, dried dark & red fruits, plum, herbs, a little bit of licorice, and leather notes. The palate was very similar. It is a much less rustic wine compared to the 2001 version of this same wine which I drank earlier this week. This has a much more silky texture (a chocolate note).

Lots of sediment in the glass, obviously unfiltered. Ruby red, turning brickish at the rim. Blast of ripe red fruit (raspberries?) up front, turning into dried flowers on the finish. About 80% Grenache.

I double decanted the wine for 15 minutes before I poured the first glass. It was medium- to dark ruby in colour, with a small brick-coloured rim. The wine offered ripe as well as dried dark & red fruits, raisins, ripe strawberry, plum, herbs, spices, some liquorice, leather, sausages, some chocolate and balsamic notes. The palate reflected the aromas pretty well, showing ripe as well as dried dark & red fruits, raisins, ripe plum, ripe strawberry, fig, herbs, liquorice and balsamic notes, with round tannins and good length. The medium-bodied wine gained weight with air. It reflected the hot vintage and drank well, though it was a little too ripe for my personal taste. Drink over the next five years.

Great stuff. Veryccss bright and sassy. cherry cola with spices that stand up to bod spicy flavors such as sausage or grilled foods. Highly recommended

Decanted for two hours. Too ripe at the beginning. Then, after another hour, the flavors started to integrate and the fruit spread out on the pallate. Wonderful wine that is only improving with time. Decant a bit more if opening again; but waiting a couple of years is best.

Decanted for an hour. Very 'ripe' at the beginning. Then, it developed a creaminess that helped it balance the ripeness. Eventually, it was very complex with a tad of ripeness. Very good QPR for $23.

Thick, dense, chewy dark fruit. Highly extracted. Still seems rather tightly wound, tannic and a bit hot. I'd give this just a little more time in the cellar, but not much. When it hits its peak, it'll be a new world-style Parker fruit bomb, enjoyable to drink but probably not particularly complex.

The wine had an interesting colour, with a very small slightly brownish rim and medium density (you could just see your fingers through). The nose was complex and almost vegetal, with peas, olives, celery, asparagus and black pepper. The nose further evolved with more air and also developed raspberry and other red fruit aromas. On the palate the wine started off rather light-bodied, with a blackberry attack, a slightly hollow mid-palate and obvious honey flavours on the finish. After further aeration the wine gained weight and became medium-bodied, and the mid-palate improved. The wine now showed red fruits, cherry, blackberry and a hint of rosemary on the palate, with a spicier but dryer finish, and with a somewhat hard mouth-feel. The balanced wine contained the alcohol content of 14.5% pretty well. It had good complexity and drank well at its current stage. The wine was different from what we expected, but all in all we enjoyed the bottle we shared. I would advise to let the wine breath in a decanter for a while and not to drink it too warm.

Very nice wine. Nothing amazing, but nothing off about it either. I am surprised that it says to wait another year to drink; sure seems ready now to me. But, I am sure it will keep for many years though too. Very nice.

Very good wine that is easily overpowered. Light buttery purple fruit tastes. Low tannins and acid, but it's flavors come out with properly matched food. Would probably be very good with a roast chicken.

Deep ruby to a pink rim. Nose has become more expressive in the past year; now showing blackberry syrup, spices, peanuts, garrigue. Sweet, medium length, concentrated but perhaps a tad harsh in the mid-palate. Drinking very well now and should improve or at least hold for another five years. Hard to project much beyond that for a wine in this style.

Drinking quite well now. The wine currently has a nose dominated by sweet framboise liqueur aromas, and while it has that 03 "scorched earth" element, it isn't jarring and recedes as the wine opens up with air. Sweet and long with a velvety texture. Quite a successful wine.

Great aroma - buttery cherry fruit. Medium light body - dark cherry vanilla flavors. Had with broiled lamb chops - was very nice, but almost overpowered. Seems like it would age very well, but grow lighter. Not a lot of tannins or acid to hold through the years, but would have a very interesting flavor.

Already improving, this is turning into a rather nice mid-range CDP for drinking over the next two to three years with pasta -- basically, a very attractive table wine. The wine lacks the roasted element so many people dislike in the 2003s and is dominated by very ripe cherry aromas and flavors. Perhaps a bit sweet, but goes very well with food.

Crimson colour. Leather and spice on the nose. In the mouth powerful, dark fruits, raisins, heat, spice, a very long finish with good underlying tannins. Not integrated.

TNs: Janasse 2003 CDPs; 10/1/2005-2/1/2006: A well made but unusually "coarse" red basic bottling from Janasse. The wine is a very deep purple to the rim. Nose of roasted fruits with a hint of eucalyptus. Long and fairly sweet in the mouth but again with a roasted fruit flavor and a slight tannic bitterness. At 14% the alcohol is high but the wine isn't particularly hot. Still, needs to be drunk young because it may seem pruney with age. Best matched to a big plate of pasta with a strongly flavored sauce.

At this stage the wine is quite shut down and not very talkative. The fruit is subdued and as a consequence the alcohol is a bit more shownig than it should. It is quite tannic although less than the regular cuvee from Beaurenard tasted on the same day.

Drinking quite well, with rich raspberry, lush texture, but manages to avoid the syrupy overripe character of some 2003 wines.
