Never was a big fan of this vineyard, but now with some age, it's coming to life for my pallet. Still not sure how long to cellar Cali Pinots. This one has years left.

Deep garnet color. Sweetly performed nose. Medium body. Flavors of dark cherry, vanilla, cola, blackberry, strawberry and a touch of clove. Drinking nicely now with soft tannins and a mild acidity. Decidedly fruit forward. Has at least another 5 years left before any decline. The secondary flavors should only come more to the forefront. A modern expression of Pinot Noir. Well done. Decant for sediment.

Deep crimson. Nose of cinnamon, cola, cedar. The basically fruity nature of the wine has started to become a bit stewed. Still enjoyable, but if you don't like older California Pinots, you should drink up.

Really delightful, smooth, balanced complexity with everything in place. Light cherry, raspberry, floral, hints of citrus, clove and cardamom on the finish. Not a world beater but really nice with steak and truffle sauce.

Such a delightful California Pinot Noir, and one I wish was still in the Williams Selyem portfolio. Dark with minimal bricking. Intense nose with baking spice and berries on the nose. Lots of fresh fruit on the palate, with a medium length finish. Great complexity and balance.

I opened this when our neighbors came over for cards on 3/30/19. It had a rich, ripe and expressive nose of black cherry, raspberry, smoke, cola and baking spice aromas. The palate was rich and nicely structured with flavors that followed the nose. 91+

PnP. Medium red with some bricking at the edge. Intense nose of berries, with a high toned floral component as well. Medium weight with very clean flavors of raspberry on the palate. No tannins to resolve on the finish. Very nice.

PnP. Deep red. Entrancing nose of raspberry, blueberry, lavender, cola. Rich and voluptuous on the palate which is more dark fruited, although with a lavender component. Long intense finish although what tannins exist are buried in the fruit. Excellent.

Very Good Cali Pinot. Ripe but not overdone and had good balance. Prominent Cola flavor. Didn't drink this in ideal conditions or proper stemware, so no score. Not really what I look for in Pinot, but enjoyable.

Drank at Lake Mono. Dark colour, good nose of darker fruits (black raspberry, cherries, a little blackberry). Fruit holds up in the mouth, with good supporting structure. Good now, better in 3 years.

Cherry coke. In a wine glass. Sweet nose. Smooth on the palette with a hint of spice. Mild finish with mild tannin. If Dr Pepper's daughter was a winemaker, this is what she would make.

had a little fun with this. I had both a WS and Merry Edwards 2010 Flax so I did a side by side blind tasting. for me I preferred the WS. it was a bit less sweet, had a more body and complexity. Im kind of glad because it was clearly the more expensive of the two wines. Not that the ME was bad by any stretch, but I think the WS was the clear winner.

Decanted for 1 Hour. Could use another two years in bottle. Still young on the palate, but gorgeous on the nose. Loamy cherry and plum skin with notes of herbaceous expression. The mouth is still austere with acid predomonate over the raspberry berry fruit. Great long finish but further time would assist this wine to become a great from very good.

PnP w/1 hour decant. Some med sediment, clear otherwise and purple/dark red. Very nice, intense and proper Pinot nose. This drank just beautifully, better than expected. Proper CA Pinot flavor profile with superb balance and integration. Big and bold but not over extracted. Delicious wine in good drinking window but will hold well yet for at least a couple of years. Some tannins but not in a bad way. Dark Cherry, spice, earth, leather. Long finish. Nothing off. $64

This was popped and poured, followed alongside a 2010 WS Westside road Neighbors bottling.
More earthy than the WS, this had a darker fruited profile with pine and mossy aromas and flavors. These complement the pure cherry Selyem characteristics well. Nice acids. Firmer mouth feel that Westside Road. No detracting heat. This was delicious and provided a hint of complexity to an evening filled with simple pleasures of family, food, and a warm heart.
I'd say this needs another 2 years to find itself and at which point it will be a bit more thought-provoking. I usually don't drink these this early, but my offsite storage is offsite.

Just wonderful. Second bottle at Thanksgiving dinner. Every bit as great as the previously consumed bottle. Totally integrated from bouquet through the complex finish. This is what Pinot should be all about!
Found this light bodied, elegant and flavorful with notes of strawberry, red raspberry, cherry cola, mineral and shades of orange sherbet. This still has some time to evolve IMHO as I picked up some drying tannins. Moderate acidity and ends with a lingering dry finish. A real treat having this.

I love the brambly nose on this. palate showed precise red/black fruits with some sassafras, worn leather and earth. balance pretty good with enough acidity for carry it along. As the night went on this picked up some additional weight but never really veered off from how it started. A very nice bottle indeed.

This is definitely my style of US Pinot! I didn't get much off the nose but thought it presented a wonderful and full flavor. More forest and red fruits than the cranberry flavor that I don't like as much. Went very well with the salmon we had with dinner.

My second single vineyard WS from 2010 and both were outstanding. This followed a 2010 Martinelli and held up well. Dinner with Salmon and red pepper sauce, this was a great complement. Drink anytime, but no rush at all.
Plenty of stone fruit here on the nose, cherry most notably, some freshness. Tart red fruit, again cherry, pie cherries, acidity here on the finish suggests it could use a few years to relax.

Earthy-blackberry nose; plum, cherry and raisen with a sour backdrop; seems to be unbalanced and too young; rather opulent at times; inconsistent long but a bit tart finish; looking for a strong future.

Tasted side by side with a Kosta Browne 2008 Sonoma Coast Pinot and a luscious New York strip steak. The Kosta Browne exploded in your face with a wave of berries and currents and long, but not overly complex finish. The Flax hit you almost as hard with a swelling bouquet of cherries, but then continued with an extremely loooooooooong finish that was so complex and elegant as to raise this wine almost to a classic level. There were bubbles of flavor, sweet and sour cherries, expanding and shifting in your mouth. This wine is sure to evolve to even more enjoyment over the next two to three years.
Enjoyed with a steak. Bouquet developed after being open an hour. Wonderful herbaceous flavors made this enjoyable now, but it should be laid down to develop for many more years.
