Tasted as a PnP and from a decanter. Started off with a nose of wet stank funk. Notes of earth, red fruit, even some plum, and tobacco. The finish was dry and tannic that occasionally hinted with a smoother side Well said by MerryBerry.

Lots of extract, plenty of tannic grip, intensely fruit forward with plum and chocolate on the palate. Would have been yummy with braised short ribs but rather overwhelmed my grilled salmon. $41 at Bistrot Zinc in Chicago, seemed good qpr given that one sees more recent vintages @ $18 at wine shops. Note: first bottle opened was also overwhelmed by nasty cork taint; second one was just fine, something to note if you get this at restaurants....

Ruby-purple. Earthy, strawberry nose. Medium bodied, black cherries, pepper, fairly aggressive tannins for a CDR, tobacco, big acid, and dry, medium finish. Better with food than by itself.

Decant! On the PnP, this wine was pretty meh. After a few hours, this wine blossomed. Dark, funky, rich mouthfeel, nice acid and tannin structure. Really lovely bottle for the $$. Much better than my first bottle 6 months ago.

Still coming across very well. Nice dark fruit and spice with that sane asparagus note. A little heat from the 14%ABV but a steal for the 10.00 I paid. Tannins gave softened a bit since last bottle. Wish I had bought more at that price.

A nose of dark fruit and spice, dark purple in color. A full bodied red Rhone blend, with blackberry, raspberry, tobacco , with a spicy finish, a very good QPR.

Vegital and petroleum on the nose. Dark fruit, pepper and spice with some green vegetables on the palate. Very drying tannins. Nice for the money. May improve with age.

similar to prior notes. less barnyardy than last bottle. @ckeilah , you got ripped of at $37... paid $11.50 for this, and at that price its a undeniable value..

Dark purple in the glass. Not much on the nose but plenty of personality in the glass along with some mouth-drying tannins. This is a fun and interesting Old World bottle and seems to be a real value at $13.

Pnp. Disjointed cold, but comes together as it comes to room temperature. Good structure, ripe but balanced. Still young and tight, needs a couple more years to mellow out.

Gave it an hour in the glass before considering. No score, just a note. There is a hint of vegetable (but not under-ripeness) and the acidity seems higher in this bottle. Very interesting. I'm going to save a couple for 2 years to see where it goes.

Not feeling this CdR tonight. Not much nose to speak of - cooked black fruit with a vegetal note. Full-bodied on the palate with syrupy blackberry and very obvious heat. Wasn't much better on day 2. Disappointed. I'll see if my other bottle balances out in the next couple of years.

Color dark ruby, with purple edge. On initial pour very funky but then dark fruit, spices, vegetables take over. Being very young, it is pretty tannic, which I happen to like. Over time the wines gets better, presenting complexity of red fruit, pepper, celery. Good food wine. Nice effort for the price.

Medium bodied with a nose of fruit syrup and cured meat. Palate had nice herbs a little (mostly red) fruit and gamey aspect. Some bitter tannins and great acidity.

Day 1 consistent with earlier note. This bottle lasted until day 2 though and it some red, tart aromas come out, it softens a bit, and it's like having a 375 of a whole new wine. Good for an extra point!

{ST} Decanted about 2.5 hours. Color red loaded with black hues, full body. Bouquet of reduced fig and blackberry sauce, squid ink, tobacco and licorice. On the palate, dark fruit is concentrated and perfumed, offset by dark earth, tobacco, and licorice. Fairly big structure of tannins, extended finish of dark fruit that is a little roasted, some green herbs, melted licorice. Overall very good, seems reduced. A robust CdR and good value at 12.

P-n-P. Dark ruby with a nice shimmer to it. The nose had a bunch of dark fruit, a little musk or sulfur. Not unpleasant but different. The flavors were big rich fruit, and a dark undertone I couldn't place but really liked. Acidity was nice, finish was quite short, and it got a lot better as it got air. Recommend breathing 1+hour.

Color: Black Smell: WTF? Taste: Green Celery and tannins. Like chewing oak leaves. Nice, full body however. This is the first 2009 Southern Rhone that I've found that I don't like. I really don't like this, but I guess I can see how some others would. May be a question of style. (and I'll finish the botttle anyway) The "greeness" fades day 2 and 3, but I remain less than overwhelmed. (There's a Kermit the frog joke in here somewhere...)
