It has a medium brick red color with a clear rim. At first, lots of bright cherry. After 1-2 hours it’s more complex but more muted. Cherry still comes through and now there is rhubarb, fresh wild chanterelles, leather, and a little awkward funkiness with iodine. It’s light in the mouth with some strawberry and raspberry. Acidity is balanced and body is in the lighter side if medium.

Nose is well aged Pinot. Entry is lithe just picked strawberry essence rich but delicate, sweet but no way jammy. Keep squirgling and you get a touch of spicy green then licorice which is covered by the increasing elegance of the Pinot juice. The Riedel is now bursting with that strawberry perfume. I thank the grape pickers who chose small berries wisely. The winemaker shows skill for absence of oak or other intrusive intervention. I would compare the 2011 to the 1993 and 2001, let the grapes shine!

We served this at a tasting of Oregon pinots from a variety of wineries and vintages. Consensus was that this one was still drinking really well and was still among the top wines tasted.

Tart cherry bbq sauce on the nose with a touch of forest floor.
Lithe light and lush on the palate with medium light acidity.
I love this, and I hate to say this: stylistically it is in the top tier of Oregon Pinot. With that being said, I don’t think the fruit in 2011 had enough to carry this the distance of time, in this case, a decade.
There is complexity wanting. Beaux freres is easily in my top 3 of Oregon Pinot producers, but Beaux has much more to offer in more generous vintages.
Still An excellent wine that is drinking well now but sadly not likely to improve.

Acidic and tangy upon opening, but became more balanced with time in the glass. Light garnet color. Bright red berry notes on nose and palate - - strawberry, cherry, and citrus.

Light garnet to garnet color in the glass, fairly clear looking. Nose of red hills dust, iron and berries. Flavors of red berries, raspberries and a hint of red cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.
My guess was this is a 2011 Oregon Pinot Noir. Unknown producer.

A: Pale garnet with sediment. Unfined and unfiltered, this one. N: Pronounced Intensity. VIOLET, rose, dried cherry, dried strawberry, dust, forest floor, mushroom. This is very floral with good red fruit. P: Aroma confirmed. I loved this wine. Dry, medium (+) acid, put tannin at medium (+) but everyone had it at medium. I felt there was more attack at the gumline than that. Medium alcohol (12.9%) Medium (+) body, pronounced intensity and long finish. Drink within 5 years as fully developed and BLICt? Yup, an outstanding quality wine here.
GUESSES: Pinot Noir from Old World....somewhere. Didn't taste like Burgundy and the alcohol seemed too low for California or Oregon. New Zealand didn't fit the bill with the florals either. The structure was wrong for nebbiolo
MISTAKES: Had not realized PINOT NOIR CAN BE FLORAL OR EARTH OR FRUITY. I knew of earthy and fruity but this floral stuff is a revelation. I had an Adelsheim Pinot Noir recently and didn't pick up on these florals. There are clearly a range of styles in the Willamette Valley. TRY MORE SIDE BY SIDE PINOT NOIRS.

Definitely on the leaner side, which works for my palate and puts it in a great drinking window right now, as the acid is tamed a bit and the floral and spice notes come to the fore and balance everything perfectly.

This wine is awesome, anyone giving scores in the 80s must be either joking, terrible tasters, or perhaps tasting the Willamette Valley bottle, not BF Vineyard. It's too bad Robert Parker or Wine Advocate won't review it

Willamette Valley for Memorial day weekend and a peak at 2012; 5/25/2013-5/26/2013: Soft aromas. Lean, mild, and tart. Similarly lean on the palate and really not much flavor, period. Something's in my mouth but I don't really care what it is (wine you say?). Soft finish, slightly green, tart and very lean. This really headed down hill from the barrel sample last year and became completely hollow.
Memorial Day Weekend & Eyrie South Block Reserve Pinots (Willamette Valley, Oregon): Barrel Sample. There was some chaptalization this year. This is light and dusty in color, offering some aromas of briar and tart fruit; pretty soft overall. The palate is very soft as well, with plenty of briar, pretty thin texture, and some soft fruit. Tart green fruits on the finish, with nice tannins and soft acid. 87-89 points.

Popped and let breathe for about an hour.
Wine is a dusty red, fairly light in color, not very bright.
Really evolved nose of roses, red currants, blackberries, earth, and a subtle undercurrent of almond.
On palate, wine is sound. Boy, is it sound. Medium alcohol, softened tannin, medium alcohol. Tiny vanilla note. Excellent balance and poise.
This is an excellent, elegant wine. It's been a while since I had something that made my eyes roll back in my head. This was it.
