Nose: mango, white flower, caramel, banoffee, mangosteen, mushroom, creme brulee, red date, vanilla cake Notes: Unfortunately it's difficult to have access to this kind of wines on a regular basis, this wine is absolutely delicious and showing plenty of flavors. This wine does feel younger than its actual age. Still plenty of fresh tropical fruits around and the infusion with white flowers is simply incredible. Quite youthful still but clearly this is quite ready to drink, the nose is quite sweet yet the palate has excellent acidity to it. I would consider this one of the top whites I've had in my life. Nevertheless, the only thing I can complain about this is probably the fact that the wine died down quite quickly after 1.5 hours, I would say that at least a point or two has been deducted from the score due to this unfortunate situation. Much darker profile than the 96 but immediately attacks your senses when opened. No decanting needed. Fresh and lively. Bit denser than the 96 and less fresh. But I'd drink up as it starts to fall after 30mins - 1hr. But enjoyed it for the first 30mins a lot.

Golden hued, with nothing out of place. Beautiful, elegant nose with whiteflowers and a complexity that was riveting. Everything in perfect balance. A friend used the word 'spiritual experience' and I would agree.

This is the purest and the thickest Chardonnay I’ve had ever - forget Chardonnay, likely all and every white wine up till now - multidimensional, ideal in all respects.
Butter, crushed sunflower seeds, honey, a myriad of surreal aromas, all interwoven in its oily, ever evolving palate.
Better than sex, as some at the table claimed. I can’t confirm or deny it, but I’m thunderstruck.

DRC Montrachet 1993: An understated sense of elegance. This wine exhibits honeysuckle, supple notes of yellow apples and a hint of salinity. There is a sense of focus on the palate with the acidity, density of fruit and a clean mineral mouthfeel working in tandem. There is perhaps no better time to drink this wine. Charming, but honestly not as compelling as one of those DRC reds..... Maybe we're just not meant for each other.

CC. Peach gold color, quite advanced. Mellow, sweet melon aromatics. Some caramel notes on very sweet palate. (499/3535)

What a wonderful nose, deep color, magnificent wine that might have been better in its youth, but wow... I loved it.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Gala Dinner (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Super intense and concentration with amazing heft and weight with huge spice throughout. At a sensational place tonight.
