Vinturi aerated into decanter and let stand for 2 hours. Bright black cherry red. Long slow legs. Black fruits, leather and wet earth nose. Cherries and black berries on the palate. Smooth, flavourful and surprising delicate. Medium finish. A very nice wine worth seeking out.

Good balance and length. The fruit is powerful but not jammy. Acidity provides a good backbone through the length of the palate. The tannins are refined and integrated. It is still young - the balance means many years in front of it.

Benefits from a couple of hours breathing. Full bodied but not heavy. Dark red through to the edges. Plenty of oak but not overpowering. Loads of fruit, dark berries and ripe plums. Fine tannins and acid in balance. Lingering length and delightful mouth feel. 93+

Decant for 2 hours, Clear, deep ruby intensity with legs.
Clean, On nose, it is pronounced intensity and surely leading by black fruit: black plum, black cherry, after that, sweet spiciness with liquorice, clove, black pepper, tobacco, tea leaf, coffee and oak of coconut, very complex and with high but sweet & fine tannin. It can be aged for 5 more years without any doubts.
On palate, medium+ body and high alcohol, prounced flavour intensity. It is with all nose flavour bitterness and savoury. Comparatively it is a very elegant Australia style wine, not as robust as the usual Barrosa. I like that very much.
It is a great one and very enjoyable!

Although I'm not an Australian winelover, that's something I'm looking for from Barossa.
Strong blackcurrent and blueberries, vanalla, caramel, toffee, and a hint of mint and cinnamon. Good concerntration and good length. Very best match with the roast lamb. Yummy!

This is another fine example of the great work done by the wine maker Richard Langford, and the winery owners the Ashmead's! Well balanced with a fantastic finish.

(Making a note two days later). Purple. Long legs. Nose and palate are consistent with a fruit forward Oz shiraz with a hint of violets. Large mouth feel with good acidity. The differentiator is the round tanins - especially for such a young wine. Rolling dark fruit finish. 5+13+16+8=92

Langton's Classification Tasting (Carraigeworks, Sydney): Spicy oak with cherry, blackberry and violets. Veers into stereotypical Australian Shiraz stylings with a ripe and rich palate, but I actually think it has some poise to it. Not entirely a blockbuster in style, but still very forceful.

I love Command. It's probaby my favourite Barossa Shiraz year-in, year-out. Here, a hot drought year has delivered a reasonably balanced wine, with silky tannins, only medium to full-bodied fruit, and a wonderful gently complexity.
You must like mocha oak - the first aroma that hit me was coffee. After that, there's blackberry, blueberry, spices (cinnamon in particular), plums and vanilla. Decadent, but not overly so. I enjoyed every mouthful.
Age is always kind to Command and this really needs a few years to settle and all come together. After that, it should be magnificent.

The 09 release has a wonderfully integrated nose with plum, currants and dashes of supporting spicy oak, the palate needs time with tightly bound plum and blackberry kept in check by youthful acidity and fine tannins that given a few years will open up and show the quality of this release.
The wine has exceptional length on the finish that is dominated by spiced dark fruits. Review Link - www.winereviewer.com.au (drink from 2015-2025)

Rich, big, creamy, but pure blackberry-raspberry and balanced with fresh salami notes. Classic Barossa.
