Side-by-side-comparison between 2011 Rousseau Lavaux St Jacques and 2011 Fourrier Clos St Jacques. The 2011 Rousseau Lavaux Saint Jacques offers a sleek array of dark fruits, blueberry fruit (which I always find in Lavaux St Jacques), delicate fruits with slight austereness but no detectable greenness unlike the Fourrier CSJ. However the Lavaux is much more reserved and almost too tamed with its sleek new oak and low pitched fruits. Overshadowed by the Fourrier CSJ. (89/100)
SLDS January 2018: Cherry, roses, redcurrant and tar on the nose. Medium bodied palate, there is some sweet fruit and roundness starting to come through. Probably in a bit of a transitional phase right now, but still very nice.

Has more mineral, meat and heft than the standard ’11 Gevrey we had the day before. It is very much red fruited. It has a beautiful silky texture and gained in floral perfume with air. There’s a gentle flex of sinewy muscle to the finish.

Tried as sort of a flyer tonight, with great results! Very young fruit, of course, but beautiful -- somewhere between red and black, which is a fairly irrelevant distinction because this wine's calling cards are its balance and texture. Both wonderful. Will it get better? Maybe. Will it shut down? Probably. But fantastic at the moment, particularly if one likes young Burgs.

Very bright. Silky on the palate. Definitely has some of the power you expect from gevrey. Obviously very primary at this stage, but a pleasure to drink now. Can only get better with age. Tannins very well integrated. A thumbs up for 2011 vintage.

Dumplings and some nice bottles: Floral, red cherry and red currant aromas - very pretty. Fantastic texture on the palate with fine acidity driving. Ripe without being showy and has really good length. A treat.

Rousseau 2011 by Luis Gutierrez (Enoteca Barolo - Madrid): Now we're talking. Feminine for some, meaty, mineral -coal or pencil savings - and floral for me. In spite of that, this bottle is NOT ready at this point, at least in my mouth.
Ahora estamos a lo que estamos. Femenina para algunos, cárnica, mineral a lápiz de carbón y floral para a mi. A pesar de ello está botella NO está lista ahora, al menos para mi boca.

Bird's Eye View of 2011 Burgundy-The 2014 La Paulee Grand Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, San Francisco): This too has some brett. Compared to the excellent village wine, deeper and more chewy. More dark fruited and tannic. Excellent too at this level.
