It takes a good 2 hours to unleash that coche gun powder, flint, smoked fruit and minerals. It is very attractive on both the nose and palate. On the palate, it gradually opens up with more mid palate substance and length. A benchmark Coche that has just entered a very long drinking window. 93+

Belle robe, pas fatiguée. Nez de pepins de raisin. Vin bien tendu. Une belle acidité qui le rend encore jeune. Mineralité. Il fait saliver. Amande amère. Agrume

This time power and length are there, backed up bu freshness, mineralogy, present acidity, fruit and nuts. What a beauty. Looking forward to my next bottle.

Six hours in decanter. After the start with nuts and fruit, an enormous freshness dominated by acidity, followed by length. Next both pear and melon surprise me in a positive way, However, complexity reduced, while an enormous length is still there. I do not know what to think about the development of this gorgeous wine. We will come back in future with my remaining bottles.

Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): Perfectly delicious nose displaying light yellow fruit, apple, 2/3 white and 1/3 yellow peach, lemon curd, Coche flint, sesame and oyster shell. Already showing beautiful harmony, good energy and freshness, bright acidity and good mineral presence especially for a Puligny. Really delicious.

Annual Chicago winos visit - Pearl Clutcher, coche, drc, rousseau, D'Yquem and etc. (The Grill Room at Rosewood DC): For my palate, Coche can do no wrong. I am not a big fan of the 11 Burgundy but this is showing very well. Very fresh and pure nose displaying pear, white peach, lanoline, a hint of Coche flint and sesame, lavender and mountain stream. Medium concentration, cool and refreshing, bright acidity and good mineral presence, and beautiful clean medium to long finish. Really enjoyable without being profound.

Wine Dinner Extravaganza (Rosewood Hotel Dining Room - Washington DC): In 08/11/13 flight. Apple and pear with hints of brown spice and lemon rind. Very elegant and precise while showing fruit ripeness on finish. Still slightly reserved, I expect this will be more expressive in another year or three.

Pale straw. Intense nose of peach and citrus, white flowers and mineral - lovely purity. The wine is really palate staining offering a weight which sets it apart. Noticeably less fat than the meursaults. This is so great now although should offer a bit more complexity in time. ****+

In one flight I have tasted, thanks to Loek, the Aligoté '11, the Bourgogne Blance '11, the Meursault '09 and the Puligny Les Enseignères '11 and that is quite an experience! The last step up after the Meursault '09, this is Coche-Dury 'in optima forma', although I haven't tasted his Corton-Charlemagne. Minerality and little flowers in the bouquet, very persistent, but not 'powerful' , even flowery in the taste, which is perfectly supported by very elegant wood and delicate citrus, and than the aftertaste......

There were notes of white peach, lavender, aniseed and citrus blossom. It was full and spicy with good volume and nice shape. The finish was laden with minerals.

Dinner in Burgundy (Caveau des Arches - Beaune): Served alongside Roulot 2011 Meursault Perrieres, which is open with huge energy from minute one. This Coche-Dury is fatter, more stone fruit driven, while also supplemented with sweet spice. While riper and sweeter, it was also less forthcoming at first, but more accessible after open an hour+.

A bit riper and more giving than expected. A mix of lemon and lime peel, ripe white peach, and yellow floral with some lighter smoke hints too. Nice texture on the palate with a medium plus finish. Very nice (and delicious) wine, just would like a little more acidity.

Drunk with the 2012, and both were very good. Slight nod to the 2012, but that's quibbling.

Lots of Coche magic on the nose and flavors of the palate, but the fruit is slightly lean. Likely just the vintage vs. needing more time.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys La Paulée Auction; 3/10/2022-3/11/2022 (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): Brilliant aromatic start is floral with fresh and poached pear. Apple and pear on palate but not nearly as seamless as the two vintages of Rougeots, so coming across as slightly disjointed for now. Tough to assess where this will go.
