Taste: The feel is medium bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The structure still shows some youth despite it's approaching 20 years as the tannins still posses a firmness to them. The feel is well balanced with earth tones, herbs, red cherries, crushed rocks, and leather notes.
Overall: This feels like it's as good as it will get. There is an elegant side to it along with excellent balance. It does lack a little depth compared to some of the other wines, but it's in a great spot and feels like it will stay at this level for a good, long while.

I had 3 bottles. The first and the second which I drank in 1998 and 2004 were rather disappointing (too vegetable, not very harmonic; in short: no real pleasure). There was no reason to hope for a more favourable developement in my opinion. FALSE: The last, meanwhile 14 year old bottle was a total surprise: The wine has found its equilibum. Nice and ripe fruit, soft tannins and very Bourgundian in style and taste

Interesting aromatics with a lot of leathery funk and some herbal green notes, but on the palate it's just austere with little flavour and a lot of tart acidity, quite boring to drink and showing a little alcohol and woody bitterness on the back end.

The Other France (Fugaise in Minneapolis): Pale red color. Reserved nose of undistinguished red fruit after the initial funk blew off. On the palate this is light bodied with red fruit and a tangy acidity. Decent length on the finish, but no interesting characteristics that would bring be back for another bottle.

Cab Francs that are ready for a Bar-Mitvah (and older) (Chez Simo Bistro, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is aromatic and balanced with herbal tones, earth notes, red cherries, violets, leather, and crushed rocks. While this is rearing to go right away, it does lack some depth that would put it in the next tier.

Had as part of a flight of Loire Cab Franc. this was my second favorite, surpassed only by it 2003 version. Soft, old world wine. Very good.

Tasting Group Dinner - The Other France (Fugaise, Minneapolis): Initially funky nose that gave way to bright cherry fruit, with a hint of forest floor. Earthy, minerally. Tasty.
