(at Press - St Helena) Saturated ruby color. Underripe raspberries, roasted green pepper and dark chocolate. Medium bodied. This has cut. Very red fruit in style - would not peg it from Napa. Fresh. Missing a bit of fun. (89)

Didn’t want to open so soon but it was a dad/son birthday with 2011 being the year. Same notes as earlier this spring - have another bottle I’ll wait until 2026.

As ever: needed a couple hours. Detert is so reliable it’s hard to know what to say - none of the 2011 green meanies. Made my grilled burger seem like the work of a genius.

The few years have rewarded this wine well. Now with better integration, the combination of red and dark fruits come together nicely with a finish of a dried oregano and porcelain tannins. It's an addictive wine, for sure, having a few waves of flavors that you just want to try over and over again. No flavors are super-overwhelming, as it was an '11 after all, but I think that as a result you get a beautiful sense of balance between fruit and savory here.

Part of a Flag Day Cabernet Franc dinner. 5 Cab Francs, all popped and poured, with the first one open for about 25 minutes and the last about 50 minutes before pouring.
I have had this before, and liked it more in the past. Still a very good wine, it probably needed another year or two to completely balance out. Big flavors, I'm not sure I would have ID'd ths as a Cab Franc if I had to taste it blind.

I seek out cab franc's and was interested in trying Detert's offering, given it's location in Napa. While delicious, I can't justify getting any more at this price point. But then again, I'm starting to feel that about most of Napa's price points...

I'm not usually a big fan of Cabernet Franc dominated wines, and neither is my wine group. But I picked up a few bottles of this, along with their Cabernet Sauvignon based on their location to the To Kalon vineyard. Anyway, we basically popped and poured this as it was our first wine of the night. We were all pleasantly surprised, especially given our experiences with 2011 Napa Cabernet Sauvignons.
This had a long finish with notes of mocha , and lavender. It had a medium weight mouth feel.

Really good, particularly considering the weak vintage.

Olive. Grape popsicle. I could have mistaken this for Bordeaux.

Excellent wine. Very much reminds me of Bordeaux and Opus One.

A delicious young Cab Franc, with bright red fruits in balance with dried herbs. Moderate length. Will hopefully integrate over time.
