  • Drank my last bottle. This bottle and cork were in good shape. The wine was decanted and allowed to breathe. There was a fair amount of sediment in the bottle. The wine was mature and delicious with dark color; very Bordeaux-like. For bottles that have been stored well, I expect this vintage will last a few years longer. The question is why? It is mature and quite good at this time.

  • I did not decant this bottle but it had plenty of time to open up. in fact, I had enough left to taste it the next day. This wine was delicious the first night and opened up well over a few hours. It was rich with mature fruit, and touches of licorice and earth. Klipsun vineyards has some great, unique, signature characteristics and they showed in this bottle. I was very happy with the wine. The next day, even tough the bottle had been pumped and refrigerated, the wine was headed south. CellarTracker rates this wine at about the end of its expected life. Based on the first night's results, I did not agree. But, the quick deterioration gives me second thoughts. Why tempt fate? I suggest drinking this vintage now.

  • I opened and poured. This was delicious; deep, mature fruit and plenty of structure. There was a ton of sediment in the bottle so next time I will decant. I think this wine is fully mature and I do not see a lot of upside by holding it longer.

  • Still young, nice wine.

  • What a lovely bottle of wine - as noted by the only other taster (hard to believe), this is still pretty young. Dark and opaque and plum in colour. Nose is intense and still primary - loads of pure blackcurrant fruit, just a tinge of herb. Palate is powerful and ripe but very well balanced, again more blackcurrant, juicy acidty and dry soft tannins. This is plently drinkable and went really well with some well braised short ribs, but this could last another 5-10 easy. With the food, this was a great match - so i'm glad I opened it now.

This was very comparable to the 2001 Quilceda Creek that I had a week ago, but not quite as polished.

  • still dark and quite young. fruit forward with no secondary notes. no flaws. no va. approachable and enjoyable. soft in the mouth with softer tannins. I would wait at least five years for this if not longer.

  • This wine is still showing great color intensity, deep ruby. A much bigger wine that the label states (13% alcohol, measured at 14.5), lots of pretty black fruit, some dusty notes
