Medium garnet colour. Pronounced and developed nose with raisin, fig, prune, roasted hazelnut and caramel. Pronounced taste of prune, fig, raisins, roasted hazelnut and caramel. Long and sweet finish. Medium acidity. Full body. A very good 10 year Tawny. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well with caramel or nut based desserts.

Perfect weather to pop a bottle in front of the fire. For a 10 year old tawny it pretty damm good. Caramel, strawberry, prunes and a bit of burnt honey. Still a bit of acidity that balances the sweetness and delivers a very nice mouthfeel. Not complex but for what it it, it’s very good.

I revisit this Port every time I fly through the Zurich airport as it is served in frequent-traveller lounges. I’m always excited for it because it’s by far the best wine offered.
On the nose, there are prunes and raisins followed by distinct caramel and toffee. There are more distant aromas of coffee and oak, maraschino cherries. On the palate, it’s very full bodied and a little too high in alcohol for me as the burn continues through the finish and lingers a little bit. The acidity is medium. There is more coffee now, some dates and stewed plums. Red fruit pie with brown sugar and explicit cloves. Despite the alcohol burn, the finish is mostly pleasant with the red fruit and coffee notes.

A rich tawny color with classic, deep aromas of roasted figs, golden raisins, sweet plums, and candied orange peels, along with coffee, toffee, and scents of almond cake and roasted pecans. The palate is sweet and plush with a rich texture and medium acidity. Delicious flavors of golden raisins, fig and currant compote, prunes, accented with toasted peanuts and candied pecans, with a salted caramel and honeyed finish. Undeniably delicious, and a great intro into the tawny style at a great price.

As far as port goes definitely leans more on the higher acid, higher sweetness side of the scale. Solid, reliable port but not great QPR at $30-$35 IMO.

Slow ox, drank next to the Grahams 20. Sweet dark fruits, spice, wood, nuts, chocolate and plums. Interesting to drink the 10 and 20 next to each other. Seem to me there is a bigger stylistic jump here than between the 20 to 30, 30 to 40. A nice with that went well with a variety of desserts.

Portuguese fortified wine from Douro Valley: Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Amarela and Touriga Franca. 20 % alcohol. Aged in oak barrels for an average of ten years.
Pale ruby red color.
Warm aromas of walnut liquor. Powerful and complex flavors of raisins, walnuts, sour cherries, hazelnuts and caramel.
Sweet. Light body. Medium acidity. Smooth tannins. Good balance. Good structure. Very complex.
Long finish with walnut and sour cherries.
A very enjoyable Tawny Port. It combines freshness with maturity in a very nice way. 88/100

The last time I drank this wine I noted a strong medical touch. After tasting this wine for a second time, I think the first bottle was flawed and I revoked my score from back then. But still I think that the alcohol is not well integrated and stands out too much. Of course you can find everything you look for in a 10yo in this as well, but it feels off at some points. Aside of this I don't want to add much. It's a classic Tawny, aside from the alcohol notes exactly what I expected. I believe you can find better for that money.

Good. I didn't find this as complex as the Taylor Fladgate 10 year Tawny. I grew on me as I made my way through the bottle though. Just love tawny port.

2022 Port Harvest Tour; 9/22/2022-10/2/2022 (Porto, Portugal): This wine has a lovely amber hue and offers dusty red fruit on the nose, a smooth mouthfeel, and notes of strawberry and red fruits. Dusty tannins on the mid-palate lead to a nice, smooth, long finish.

Purchased for $30. This is a clear, dark tawny color but with reddish hues throughout. Those reddish hues hint that this is more complex then your typical 10-Year Tawny. Simply delicious notes of caramel, hazelnut, butterscotch and figs. But also fainter notes of red berry, raspberry and red cherry. So complex. I love the delicious toffee on the finish. Wonderful, mouth watering acidity. Mouth coating flavors with a long, long finish. No heat at all. So well balanced. This is truly delicious stuff. Graham's is the measuring stick for all other Ports. Bravo. Grade: A

Raisin, rec cherry, cedar, cinnamon, milk chocolate, black plum, forest air. Medium intensity nose. On the palate, sweet but not overly so; full but not syrupy. A little bit of Amontialldo-like saline on the nice, long finish. We're just beginning to explore Port, but this certainly encourages us to try more.

After a two duds, it was time to open up something we knew we would like.
Bottled in 2021. Medium light caramel with a slight ruby twinge in color. Deep nose – dried cherries, toasted walnuts, dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, espresso, fresh cut cedar, only a light raisin note, and a slight twist of orange peel. A nice and light mouthfeel for a 10-year tawny. Palate of fresh cherries, orange peel, fresh walnuts, caramel, and espresso. A very nice tannic grip is present and fades nicely through the minute-plus long finish. Although a bit more alcohol burn than I typically like. Long finish of toasted caramel, toasted nuts, dried cherries, fig, tobacco, cedar, and black pepper.
This is much better than the last bottle we consumed, which was bottled in 2020. Probably going to stock up on a few of these, since the Costco price of $23 a bottle is a steal. There is enough depth to this blend that I don't feel the yearning for a 20 or 30 year old tawny when I drink it.

Purchased for $30. I've been waiting to try this to compare to Vallado. This is very close. Crystal clear, ruby amber in color. It's tawny in color, but has some reddish hues that hint at what's to come. Delicious tawny notes of caramel, fig, hazelnut, toffee, but also fantastic notes of sweet red cherry and a touch raspberry. This is truly delicious stuff. Right up there with the Vallado. I'm excited to try the 20-Year. Grade: A

From a 200mL bottle purchased at Graham's lodge in Villa Nova de Gaia. Nice cross between tawny and ruby red colour. On the nose, aromas of cherry like aromas as well as (rancio) nuts and a faint touch of coffee (!). On the palate, the attack is frank, fruity, with the aromas as found the on the nose (cherries/nuts/coffee). A good roundness on the palate and finishing on a nutty smokiness. 88-89

A very serviceable port, tawny red color, mostly cherry and alcohol on the palate. Perhaps a bit too reminiscent of cough syrup-but in a good way? Along way from vintage counterparts.

Medium bodied tawny, well-rounded, doesn’t feel boozy and good value for money. On the mid-palate you get rich Ed’s from the fruit, hazelnuts, honeysuckle and oak towards the end. It has a long finish with excellent after taste. Enjoy it chilled and with dried fruit, candy, chocolate or cheese.

In comparison to the Taylor's 10 yo tasted in parallel, this is less oxidised and appears a touch younger (which to my preference is a good thing, but tawny aficionados may not agree), with a more vivacious fruit (brightness) and a touch less oxidation. The coffee notes are quite original. I'd give this a slight edge, as the whole seems to have a slightly better balance and also the alcohol is less apparent. 88-89 or so.

Retail$ 35. I tasted this alongside the Dow's 10 year and while both were excellent, this Graham's was lovely (despite its somewhat ridiculously shaped bottle). Fairly light in the glass for a Tawny Port, with honeyed orange rind, Christmas spice, and an intense roasted hazelnut. The palate is rich, unctuous, and yes, sweet, with layers of flavor, great acidity, and a lengthy finish. Very nice.
Deep tawny color. Pretty, expressive nose of dates, figs, caramel and toasted nuts, that classic warm, inviting aromatic display. On the palate this is full but shows moderating acidity, and chunks of glazed pear, dried pineapple, baked apples. Notes of cinnamon crumb cake, candied pecans and some salted almond add complexity. This is warm, inviting, delicious, and a great introduction to Tawny ports, but enough complexity to keep any tawny-lover intrigued.

Bottled in 2020. Carmel Ruby in color. The nose was less complex than I was expecting - Alcohol dominated followed by caramel, raisin, dried cherries, and nuts. More or less average taste on the palate – sweet, fruity, and nutty. Good balance. The finish is where this Port shines. I get hit with the spicy aspects of the oak aging, black pepper and cedar that sticks for 20-30 seconds. Goes well with dark chocolate.
I still prefer the 20 year old tawny from Graham's, but it is hard to go wrong with the 10yo at 23 bucks for a 750ml bottle.

Seattle Chaine Port and Madeira Tasting. Seemed unusually "red" in the line-up of ports and madeiras tonight. This struck me as a good balance-- like a ruby that's just starting to unfold. This is all a matter of the blender's art and I quite like their style. If you're looking for a mouth full of butter and toffee, this isn't your wine.

Opened with steamed lobster. What a perfect match with the rich buttery lobster with just enough acidity to clean the palate. Really nice nutty cimmionly brown sugar and sweet enough that it really complements the rich fattey lobster meat. Not complex but very nice. We finished the bottle a few days later with nuts and cheese. Just a clasic paring thats fun. I think I liked the lobster pairing best. Try it. Sweet wines are hard for me to rate and I think I might give them a bit higher score but that what it is.

Tasted alongside a fine Stilton, Valdeón, and Rogue River Blue (OR). Pure delight! Nuttiness, assorted raisins, dried fig, carob, and light coco showed prominently. The Stilton pairing rocked the house, nudged out by the 'fattier' (for lack of a better term) Valdeón, with the delicious Rogue River Blue bringing up the rear (A spectacular cheese, but a little too lean and high pitched to pair with the tawny). Found the standout Iberian (Portuguese wine, Spanish cheese) pairing quite interesting.

Rating blir litt tilfeldig gitt manglende sammenligningsgrunnlag.

13th Cellier Wine Fair (Hilton Athenaum Hotel): The nose is developed, much more on the nutty side, alcohol and nail polish stand much taller with a bit of oak in the back. In the palate, the wine is easier, candied white fruit, dried peach, spicy with bits of chocolate, smooth, med body and finish.

By the glass at restaurant with dessert. Typical Grahams sweetness with nose and palate of dried fruits, figs, nuts, caramel, toffee, and fruitcake spices with a touch of heat. Always pretty solid, this is an obvious step down from the 20, with the biggest difference being that this is perhaps just a bit too cloying.

MNB: Fortified Wines: (blind) Pale ruby to a tawny rim. Extremely dusty nose - dusty date skins, dried fruit, slight dried black cherry.
20g RS, 20% alcohol, high acid, medium plus tannins. Nutty and oxidative - almond skins, date skins.
Laterals - LBV Port - structured but also well aged showing oxidation. Structure is still aggressive. - Madeira - not oxidative enough and color is wrong. Also Madeira doesn't have tannins. - Tawny Port - could be this as well but would be softer in structure.
Final call: LBV Port around 10 years?

Medium tawny colour. Expressive nose showing aromas of almonds, caramel, raisins, dry figs and deliberate oxidation.
It is sweet in the mouth with a moderate acidity and a warm alcohol. It is full-bodied with pronounced intensity flavours and a long finish.
It is a very good quality wine with a very persistent finish and a lot of concentration, it also shows complexity provided by long ageing in oak vats, however it is a bit too warm.

Nose of strawberry, a bit of cashew butter and raspberry.
Palate of some strawberry jam and biscuit on entry, settling into a fresher strawberry and a bit of brown sugar that carries over to close. Sweeter than average Port, but not on the weighty side. Solid stuff, but not special.

Beautiful bright tawny colour. Nose of chocolate caramels, oak and pine, slightly sherry. More sherry oxidation when you taste it, vanilla and nuts, but the overwhelming impression for me is the alarming bite of harsh spirit. For me this wipes out any subtle tawny pleasure; there's little fruit, no complexity, just the astonishing, fiery snarl of ethanol.
The thing is, for only a few pounds more you could have a fantastic single quinta vintage port that's simply streets ahead in terms of quality; and in my opinion you'd definitely get more for your money. Not sure I'm even going to manage to finish this bottle - that doesn't often happen.

From a small bottle. Vibrant nose of toffee, chocolate and dried fruit. A little volatile. Full bodied, sweet, good balancing acidity, delivering a bit of raspberries and dried fruit, notes of caramel and minerals. Not much heat coming through. Delicious tawny that easily craves for another glass.

(Bottled in 2016, Lot no L162176) Nose: Not very expressive. Sweet plums, black corint raisins, hint of prunes (86p). Taste: Rich, medium sweet, a little peppery tannin. Long, spicy aftertaste (88p). Total score: 87 points.
06.12.2016: It took another two weeks for it to really open up on the nose, confirming the initial sweet plums, black corint raisins and prunes but now adding violets, rose petals and a hint of tar (88p). The taste remains more or less the same (88p). New total score: 88 points.

Clean garnet red of pale intensity. Medium nose with notes of dried fruit (fig, raisins), dark chocolate, sweet spices (cinnamon, vanilla, cloves). A hint of game dashes through the background. On the palate it's sweet with medium acidity and tannins, high alcohol and a long finish. Very good - complex, intense, expressing the style very well, but could be better balanced and have less sweetness.

Picked by the sommelier at The Yeatman and served lightly chilled from magnum. Very sweet and unctuous, burnt sugar flavours, cappuccino, caramelised toffee apple. I find the sweetness too much with this wine, not enough acidity to balance it out.

A Few Ports: Dark amber colored. Warm spices on the nose (clove, cinnamon sticks) along with brown sugar, fig cookie, quince paste and caramel. Smooth and full on the palate but this stays vibrant in spite of the richness. Flavors of apricot jam, dried pineapple, topped in caramel, roasted chestnut, nougat and some brown sugar. Rich but harmonious.

Bottled in 2013. This bottle was open for three and a half days. Colour between cherry red and ruby red, smells a little bit of dried raisins and plums, not that sweet (which is not typical for Graham as they are on the sweeter side of ports usually), in the mouth acidity, some raisins and smoke, rather a light body, in the aftertaste smoke, acidity and plums, good length(20+ secs) which is dominated by acidity, in the end plums linger on the palate, a good 10Y-Tawny, but nothing above average.

In Porto and tasting at Graham's ports. Had the Six Grahams, 10- and 20-year Tawnies. The ten year Tawny was a bit of a disappointment. Nice, reasonable color, but the nose was a bit vegetal. Didn't care for the celery-like and rubber-like elements in the nose. Grape flavors on the palate. A bit hot. Liked the 20-tawny better.

Appearance: Clear, medium tawny. Nose: clean, medium intensity, aromas of red fruits (strawberry, red cherry), spice (nutmeg, cloves) and a herbal hint (mint). Fully developed. Palate: medium-sweet, medium + acidity, medium tannin, high alcohol, medium + body, medium flavour intensity, flavours of red fruits (plum and red cherry) and light toast and cinnamon. Medium + length.
Not too sweet. It has high alcohol, but is balanced by a good acidity. It also has a nice complexity and an elegant quite persistent finish. I could have enjoyed some more intensity (and tannins), but it is a very good wine indeed.

Blinds with AA and other SF folks (SF—Inner Sunset): Medium red, slightly tawny. There’s a raw rice smell, figgy, Tastes like port. Sweet, good acidity. Good bit of caramel, maillard flavors. Uncomplicated and delicious.
I don’t have much context for Port, so I won’t rate it. The nose is a bit like ethyl-acetate or acetone, but otherwise I dig this.

Pale ruby-tawny color; nose has raisins, slight heat, figs, very slight citrus peel; palate is medium-full bodied, fabulous acidity that lifts the palate, primary with plenty of fruit, black cherry, raisins, very slight nuttiness, fruit fades a bit through the midpalate, relatively simple in the spectrum of port and more primary fruit; finish is short-medium length and enjoyable. This seems like a respectable entry-level 10-year tawny at a good price, more youthful fruit than aged nutty complexity, but held back by slight heat on both the nose and the palate and lack of persistence on the palate. 84 10/5/15: Finishing the bottle now after nearly 3 months, and it is largely the same as when first opened. Don't let the "low" score fool you... this has been immensely enjoyable whenever I've had it.

Raspberry, dark cocoa, maple, walnut, and orange on the palate -- medium sweet, med+ body, med- tannin (they're there), high alcohol (a bit hot, even served cellar temp), med acid. Nice warming finish. A solid 10 year tawny, a touch on the sweeter, fruitier side.

Orange to amber color. The wine shows a nice synthesis of nutty, baked and oxidized aromas with fresh and lively fruit, all smoothed out with hints of toffee and cardamom from the prolonged oak aging. Soft, chewy and slightly oily mouthfeel with flavors of dried dark fruits, figs and molasses on the fore, christmas spice, orange peel and oxidized nuttiness in the background. No discernible tannins. Caramel oak lingers in the back of your mouth. Complex, oxidative notes with flavors of maple syrup and roasted nuts in the elegant, surprisingly light finish.
Enjoyable, typical 10 yo Tawny from the better end. With its combination of oxidative aging and still youthful, fresh fruit flavors this offers quite decent value for money at 32€ for a big bottle. Still lacking the enjoyable complexity and elegance you can get from Tawnies that are 20 yo or older.

My wife and I are Port novices so we have little context for rating this wine on a numerical scale. We thought this bottle might be a decent first step into the Port experience. It is intense reddish brown in color. Very appealing to the eye. Nose of maple and candied fruit. Incredibly rich flavors of caramel and fig with a nutty finish. We like it.

Candied & hot nose. A bit smoother than other 10 yr tawny's I've had lately, alcohol wasn't to the point of being unpleasant. Lasted well over 6-8 weeks, staying consistent the entire time. Finish fades to a nutty & then bitter aftertaste.

Nose: Strong core of honey, hints of maple syrup, a little oak and heat, and a touch of roasted peanuts and rubber even. Palate: Caramel and honey on the attack, followed by a touch of heat (not off-putting) on the mid-palate alongside some oak, which gives way to a wonderfully sweet, corn-syrupy, slightly butterscotch-ish and toasty finish... lasting a good minute.

Open 6-days now w/ the cork-stopper plugging it; in glass 30-min before scoring. Orange-tawny color. At this point, it's pretty potent in the bouquet where the alcohol is overwhelmed by the heavy caramel, whipped cream, and orange-rind porty smells. There's also a nice floral perfume aroma that's truly intoxicating. On the palate, some heat shows, especially with a super-sized sip. Otherwise, the flavors are quite intense -- nutty, figs on figs, bitter-sweet cream (turning condensed milk), orange spices... Fair and lengthy 25-sec finish. Not the most refined or polished mouthfeel but very high on the flavor intensity scale. Fair QPR at what I paid.

Orangish red and purple. Like a spectacular sunset in the glass. A big nutty nose of caramel, stewed figs and prunes. Cherry compote. On the mouth, big cooked cherries. Brazil nuts galore. A really enjoyable Tawny.

Didn't quite like this as much as other Tawny's we've had, it was good, but it had a bit of a 'funk' about it for some reason, not off, just different - Brick red, full bodied with notes of figs, raisins, nuts and vanilla extract on the nose, decent structure and balance with a good smooth finish (85 Points).

This was one of the most complex and subtle tawny's I've had the pleasure of drinking. Lots of fruits up front, but then mellowing into a caramel strudel taste that lingered for a long time. All our guests were equally impressed with this one.

10 Year Old Tawny Port by Graham's (bottled in 2006)
The color is a pale red with a brown edge. The nose provides scents of allspice, cinnamon, with fresh red strawberries. The palate has prominant cedar and liquorice intially that develope into bitter tannins and a healthy dose of acidity as it fills the mouth, ending in a long finish. Although this is a decent 10 year tawny Port, it just doesn't have the grip and complexity that others in its class have. 85 points.
(edit note..after a couple more glasses, this didn't improve and the more I had the more the flaws (simple, lacking grip and fruit/nuts) became apparent. hence the lowered score.)

A rich and fruity tawny port with a a rewarding and lingering aftertaste. However, it seems to be a little on the sweet side, at least for my palate... But this brilliant aftertaste of fruit and caramel which lasts for minutes on your palate - it´s worth its money and shows good value.

Upon opening, I was not blown away by this. It seemed overly sweet, even for a tawny port. I will taste again over the next few days to see if this improves with some air time.

Mapple syrup color. The nose is rich, dried fruits, nuts and oak. The mouth is very well balanced, the alcohol is just right with the rest and it's very pleasing on the palate.Lingering finish and a perfect pairing with the cajum nuts.

Light brown with glints of Ruby as is agitrated. Noticeable wood and alcohol on the nose with hints of carmel and light fruit. Rich in the mouth with a coating quality followed bylight alcohol on the finish. Carmel, with dried raisen, prune and a clove/allspice note intermingled. I need cheese with this to bring to life. Very nice wine though the alcohol is a bit distracting on the finish. C5+A13+T17+O7=92

Graham's Tasting (Vila Nova da Gaia): A lovely colour - like a pale ruby . A nice nose too, with fairly fresh fruit and some oxidation and nuttiness developing. Good attack with nice fruit immediately evident. A bit spirity on the middle, and the spirit unfortunately becomes just a little too dominant on the finish. Good+

I tried this bottle twice over the weekend. I brought it to a fondue restaurant on Saturday and drank it with a chocolate and carmel fondue. On Sunday I brought what was left to my Sister-in-Laws for Easter with a vanilla and coconut cake. It was much better the first day with the chocolate based dessert. I paid $22 for this bottle. It was a clear ruby color. It was apparent that this had been filtered as the opaque character and sediment present in a vintage Port was not present. I almost felt as though the wine was a sterilized version of Port. Aromas of crushed berries and blackberry liquer. It had a typical brandylike quality with notes of sweet black cherry, plum and some tar. No tannic structure to speak of. I was not impressed and left the bottle with my Sister-in-Law who enjoyed it very much. Tawny's are not my style. 85 points.

Very nice.

Extremely dusty nose - dusty date skins, dried fruit, slight dried black cherry.
20g RS, 20% alcohol, high acid, medium plus tannins. Nutty and oxidative - almond skins, date skins.
Laterals
- LBV Port - structured but also well aged showing oxidation. Structure is still aggressive.
- Madeira - not oxidative enough and color is wrong. Also Madeira doesn't have tannins.
- Tawny Port - could be this as well but would be softer in structure.
Final call: LBV Port around 10 years?

Medium tawny, with light garnet core. Excellent Christmas nose - dried fruit, gingerbread, caramelised wood, even old piano. Sweet on the palate, of course. Medium acidity and body. Lots of dried fruit and caramel combined with wood/ oak. Long length. Save it for Christmas evening. Cheers!

Dark amber appearance. Spiced apples, maple syrup, toffee, and spice aromas. Baked apples, caramel, and sweet berry fruit on the palate. A dash of baking spice in every sip. Complex, generous, with great depth and concentration. Long finish.

Much less complex than the last bottle. Strange that it should vary so much. Still delicious though.

85 points.
