Beautiful wine. Fir, graphite, lead, lots of cherry, more mineral overall than fruity, but still plenty of currant and fruit forward flavors. Very balanced tannins and mouth feel. Served w grass fed reverse seared fillet from the Green Egg. Perfect drinking date now, 12 years out.

Good to go with <30 mins in the decanter. Very fruit forward, lots of blackberry, cassis, small amounts of red fruit and blueberry. Some oak remaining. Well integrated tannins hit, with well balanced acid and a long, did I mention long... finish. Started to get a bit alcoholic and overpowering at the end of the bottle, but put it back in the fridge again for 20 mins which quietened down the alcohol. I do really love the Bone Ash, it's a fantastic counterpoint to my preferred more classical Bordeaux, and goes to show that one can successfully enjoy both old school Bordeaux, and new world HOT Cabernet. 94pts

Really interesting wine. Dark garnet brooding in the glass. Plenty of dark black cherry on the nose. This translated to a very full palate coating dark fruit experience with some Coca Cola On the back end. Really tasty and enjoyable!

This wine is finally coming around at the 10 year mark. The fruit is mouth filling, but not overbearing as it was previously. I wish I had another bottle in the cellar, as I believe this may continue to improve. Best attribute of this wine is a long finish.

Quite flat. Very different from earlier tastings of the same wine. Could be the bottle, or, could be simply be past it's age. Recommend if you have some in your cellar, open or coravin to try. No rating as I know what this wine is like and would not downgrade based on time in the bottle.

Wine is good but unfortunately tastes like a $50 bottle instead of punching higher. Black currant, black raspberry, but weak finish. Tannins still firm but not smooth. Surprising since I usually expect more from Bone Ash.

This is really coming into its own. It is a seductive hedonistic wine. Heavy cassis, raspberry, well integrated oak. Excellent mouthfeel, length and acid balance. Just entering it’s drinking window. Lots of life left.

This wine, along with 7 others, was enjoyed while visiting my daughter recently.
While a part of me wanted to take copious notes on each wine and do reviews on them all, I think once you see the wines and their quality, you’ll understand why that was just not necessary, it would also be time that would be taken away from enjoying the wine and the moments spent with family. Let me assure you all, that every one of the wines was spectacular, even the 19-year-old Champagne, whose bubbles had little left, but nonetheless showed brilliance and age-worthiness.

Curiosity got the best of me and I popped the cork on this tonight. I like it better than I did 2 years ago. This is new world, Napa Cabernet without apology. The fruit is the star of the show and features black currant, blackberry and pomegranate. The alcohol is notable, but not overwhelming. I suspect it will blow off with some air. The finish is the wines best attribute. Will save my last bottle for another couple of years.
Day 3 update: Finished the last half of the bottle. Wine did not improve with time. This wine is good, but not great. Over priced and overrated in my opinion. Lowering score to 90 points.

This cab was worth the wait. This is an excellent example of the craftsmanship practiced at Venge vineyard. The bare bones fact is this cab is delicious and paired well with our take out meal from Zorba’s of lamb shoulder and potatoes. Staying home can be elegantly done.

A big wine with balance and a smooth tannic structure, but ripe and extracted in a way that blurs its varietal characteristics. Stylish, but with a fleshy, hard-to-read fruit profile. At release, this wine famously received a 98 from Robert Parker, but an 89 from Wine Spectator. At the seven-year mark, it's a pleasant, jammy sprawl that is unlikely to be confused with a 98-point Napa cab.

Dark garnet in the glass with floral and citrus aromas. Tannins are still tight but fine with an enveloping mouthfeel. Flavors of dark black berry with a hint of menthol. Nicely done.

Wow this is a bold wine. Notes of blueberry, coconut, soil, blackberry with a lengthy finish. Krissy loved it and it reminded us why we went to Napa Valley for our honeymoon. Phenomenal.

Great wine, also first wine I used my Coravin with so I have plenty left. Rich full flavor but with a subtleness of tannins and spice to be savored. Long finish. Can't wait to pour my next glass!

I wanted this to be my favorite wine at our race day BBQ. This is the first of three bottles of this wine I purchased three years ago. For now, the fruit on this wine is over the top. I found the wine to be almost port like and way too extracted for my taste. I won't open my next bottle for at least three years and hope the additional time allows the fruit to calm down. The 2012 Bone Ash was overmatched by the 2013 RY Scion, which was the WOTN.

I enjoyed this wine a great deal, but it does tip the ripeness scale just a tad. Splendid aromatics of blueberry, silt, dark berries, and loam. Noteworthy richness on the palate with a full spectrum of dark fruit and acidic interplay. I think if this sheds some fat the score improves in 3-5 years.

A hit of the night, tied with K Vineyards Syrah at 97. Took two hours to open, but really blossomed. Hard to pick out a taste or aroma, just beautiful on both counts. Smooth and full flavored with a very long finish.

Yes it hard to believe WS gave this fine Cab. an 88, this juice is really good. Just no down side to this 2012 Cab. Spice, fruit, dark Chocolate and more. A 45 second finish is always good as well.

It's hard to understand how this wonderful Cab. Received an 88 from WS and a 98 from RP. This wine started with a great nose and was wonderful on the Pallet. Over three days it just got better. I want more!
My 94 point rating is for where the wine is today, but this wine will warrant a higher score with 5 - 10 more years in the bottle. Great aromatics in the glass - very expressive, nice balance from start to finish, good acidity and plenty of fine tannin for cellar aging & a graceful evolution. This is serious stuff from Napa Valley. It is still very primary at its current age of 3, but if you like crème de cassis in a glass without much complexity, then you can drink it now. Just be sure to decant it for 2 hours. As for my palate, I would let it evolve in the cellar for a while longer.

This is a huge wine that will get better with age. Now, after decanting for 2 hours, it's a powerhouse and won the night at our wine tasting. Very rich, purple color, the tannins are there but not overpowering. And this is fruitbomb -- plums, berries, chocolate. Great job!

Had this wine twice with similar notes. Nose of menthol, cassis, crushed rocks, black fruit, some spice (pepper?). Fruit not pushy, present but takes a back seat to texture which is excellent. Balance excellent IMO. Will probably wait till 2017 to open another. If it has improved then I will raise rating. Cant wait to buy this wine again next year.

A real hit from this winery. Nose of sweet methol/camphor and an herbaceous mix. No fruit until you taste it and then it's a nice mouthcoating mix of dark berries with some floral hints. On the nice, 15-30 second finish, the berries fade away to leave the flowers and spice. Color is almost a glass staining deep purple/black, and shows very well in a glass. It went better with food and kept evolving through the meal, varying its herb flavors with the constant berry.
