My last bottle. First day still a bit subdued, but the second day: wow, this is singing. Almond paste, Marzipane, herbs, lemon curd, lemon zest. Creamy, herbaceous body with wonderful lemon stream of acidity with some apricot kernel bitter notes at the end. 93-94

Dark golden yellow. Slightly oxidised style. Wonderful Christmas apple crumble nose. More advanced than my last bottle, so no citrus and agrumes flavors, but more spices and even a hint of liqorice lurking in the back layer. Perfect integrated vanilla oak. Creaminess and acidity in perfect harmony. On the palate: apple crumble and a very beautiful grippy taste of anise. Nose ever changing and evolving (a hint of lilac after an hour…) Started this with 93, now it is at 94. This wine makes me happy. Might 95 be in sight?…

Drank a couple of glasses from Coravin then the remainder a few weeks later and it was excellent both times. Dark yellow and showing some aged character with a firm grip and texture. Notes of fresh and baked citrus (grapefruit?) along with threads of hay and grass (but not "grassy"), honeycomb, mint. Long-ish finish. 13% abv
Medium yellow. Bright citrus aromas. Medium weight. Lovely texture without obvious influence of oak. No objectionably strident Sauvignon varietal footprints. Excellent and infinitely better than some really dull, plodding prior bottles.

This is the third time trying this wine. The nose is rather muted but the attack on the palate is quite spectacular and on a 94/95 points level. Sadly the wine quickly disappears afterwards with a big hole in the mid palate. I‘m no expert at all of Loire Sauvignon Blancs but I like how this wine developed over the past few years. It‘s getting more interesting from an aroma perspective and the structure becomes more inviting with a creaminess to complement the high acidity. I will lay down my remaining bottles for 3-5 more years to see where this is going. The potential seems high, especially if the mid palate whole would disappear.
TN: Not overly expressive or intersting nose with citrus and grass aromas. Beautiful on the attack with minty and grassy notes, minerality, citrus and green apple. High but round acidity, well balanced by a sexy creamy texture. As mentioned above a big whole on the mid palate and after that it disappears quickly.
Decanting: Not decanted, no extensive decanting needed. Half an hour should do the job.

Tasted blind. Some unexpected, but complexity enhancing notes of hay or straw in addition to fresh herbal aromas and mineral notes. Fruit profile citric fruit with physalis as a side. Fresh acidity, but didn't come across as well integrated and the mid-palate felt a bit weak. On the finish more round but with a bitter touch to it and lacking push. I wonder if this could develop into something more appealing with increasing bottle age, but not holding my breath.

Gorgeous Sancerre. Definitely one of the best Sauvignon Blanc's I've had. This doesn't have the overt grassy notes typical of SB but has all the freshness and acidity. A round mouthfeel and some nice weight. Lovely minerality, lemons, white flowers and some oak and spice.

Very good structured and long. Lacking a bit fruit or any other expression (terroir e.g.). Just a bit boring. Maybe this has be drunk in the first 2-3 years after filling. Dunno. Now on the edge of decline with first hints of firn (unpleasant flavours of oxydation and over-aging) Drink up.

Ripe but balanced by crisp acidity. Generous citrus; grapefruit, lemon, lime, and a faint orange or kumquat note. A little honey and if you focus and don't let the dense fruit distract, there's a mineral limestone background. I prefer my sancerre a little more austere, but there's no arguing this is a beautiful wine.

Full yellow. Aromas of vanilla more than citrus. It would be hard to identify this blind as Sauvignon. Broad, great texture (especially for Sancerre), some orange peel. It has absorbed the oak very well. I'd like to see more acidity, but I guess you can't have everything in a ripe vintage like this.

Clearly the best Sancerre I've had so far. This opened my eyes. There is more than the Reds from Clos Rougeard and some sweet wines (mainly from Huet) in the Loire Valley. This was quite singular. Cleary different from white Bordeaux's, Napa SB's or NZ SBs. I wouldn't be surprised if one or the other blind taster would have guessed BdB Champagne with some age. I'm a sucker for special, singular expressions in wine and hence, I was quite excited to taste this. World's apart from a highly mediocre bottle of the same wine 3 years ago.
TN: Almost sparkling nose, like a blanc de blanc Champagne with a few years on the hips, marked by some baking spices. Broader on the palate with citrus, sweet apple, baking spices. Very soft structure with an excellent cut of the very well-integrated acidity. Not really the most complex wine but a Sancerre you can drink without burning your throat with too much acid.
Consistent rating to my note from a year ago. A little more on the mineral side, very clear / pure, little fruit. The lime speaks a clear language. Wonderfully deep, elegant and balanced. Now perfect drinking window.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA): Bright yellow green; green fruit on nose, mineral, crystalline, melon, kumquat, salty, yeasty, bread dough; slightly tropical fruit, mango, more weight and richness, grapefruit and lime, mix of herbs, silky and viscous, peach, searing acid, young and serious, top notch Sancerre; yum; everyone on Chablis 1er Cru right after confusing Dauvissat for Sancerre- funny, glad my (this) bottle created so much chaos, hopefully gaining some fans of serious SB.

Light white stone aromas with green grapes. Firm and bright with good tension. Fruit seems ever so slightly faded, but very evident in good way. Sea shells, hint of dusty earth. Finishes dry with long grapefruit flavors. Well made, yet a bit closed.

Lovely wine. Very powerful and at the same time quite delicate. Lemon, tangerine, mineral and a muted white flower nose. The wine seemed to close down a bit after the first glass so 92 for now maybe it is in an awkward stage. Exemplary Sancerre. Animating fresh aromas, much moist stone, some melon, fresh hey. On the palate superb acidity, very clear and clean, defined and with inner strength. Pure aromas, much mineral, wet stone and flint. The behaved fruit shows nuances of fresh melon, citrus and fresh apples. Very well balanced, a little creamy on the Surface and nicely balanced energy in the finish.

Rich and round but with a strong mineral core. Like another reviewer, I felt this wine was soft and Burgundian in style -- even pushing more toward Côte de Beaune than Chablis. The typical pungent aromas of "gunflint" and "gooseberry" are present, but they are balanced by more floral and creamy notes of peaches and lime custard. There is a hint of oak in the background. The finish of lime and minerals shows welcome austerity.

Medium yellow. Ripe citrus. Broad and rich but not as much focus or structure as in other vintages of Edmond I've had. Much less marked by wood than a bottle this spring, and that is a good thing. Just not an exciting vintage for this wine, I think.

Full yellow. Yellow fruit, vanilla, and some herbs. Full bodied and broad, strong wood influence (in fact buttery, an adjective I find jarring in this context), some Sauvignon citrus, but overall somewhat dull. Unfortunately, the oak just strips away the Sancerre character.

Hands down best sancerre I've every had, granted its not an area I have a ton of experience with, but part of the reason is that I've not had something as good as this. Beautiful nose of Tangerine, minerals, lemon oil and faint white flowers. In the mouth, seamless entry with a wonderful tart character intertwined with nice full fruit. Fruit and acid in great balance together, and rather size-able for an SB. Just great with berre blanc styled scallops with asparagus risotto. Perfect pairing!
