Aromas dominated by cherry and raspberry. Very New World pinot aroma. The palate has an elegance to it. There’s a quality in the mouthfeel which is very appealing. Earthy, a touch of spice, integrated tannins.

Clearly new world pinot noir but of good quality. Fairly strong tannins for PN but fits the more robust quality of the wine. Trace of cinamon giving it some elegance but in the basis this it is fairly earthy.

A year on and this has not changed too much. Still quite plush, oak feels a little more prominent than I would prefer but settles down after some time in the glass. Savoury, earthy and twiggy, some spice and charcuterie flavours as well. Good wine, expect it will improve.

side-by-side with the 2014, this is very similar in quality. Nice wine. Fruit forward, soft tannins, completely ready to drink now and over the next five years. Top quality Australian Pinot.

Nice modern Pinot, very smooth and impeccably well made. Has generous depth of fruit, more in the dark red spectrum, a flicker of smoke and spice tinged with some woody oak notes. Very fine tannins and excellent length, lovely wine indeed.

Ruby, translucent. Not overly fragrant, slightly reductive. Red fruits, briar. Stalkiness bitterness. Refreshing, slightly thin. Good length. (91 Very good wine)

Seductive red rose perfume, red currant, snapped twig/stalks and maraschino cherry. Whole bunch influence with a layered, deep yet focused palate. Lovely fine open weave of tannin. Light dusting of oak spice on the finish. Incredible value here. All class. 95+

Gourmet Traveller Wine Single Site Pinot Noir Tasting (8 Danks street, Sydney): toasted red cherry and berry, slightly smoky, stalky notes and sweet spice. In the mouth it perhaps lacks a little acidity otherwise very pleasant with the above translating to the palate and being joined by fine, slightly drying flour textured tannins. I went back for a second tasting and this impressed again.

with a theme of new-world pinot, this was the only bottle in my wine fridge I could take to lunch. Darn, I wanted to keep these!! Must bring back some ready-to-go pinots back with me next time I am down in Aus. Identical notes to last time (four months ago), a pretty and very well made wine. Went beautifully with both the duck and the DouPi. Liked the focus here, and nice length. 2012 Ata Rangi kicked it's butt, but it was a whole lot better than the utterly terrible 2011 Auteur Pinot , which looked and tasted like something a diabetic with haematuria would produce. I drink very little Sonoma pinots, but if this is a standard offering from the region, I won't be rushing out the door to purchase any!!!!
88points, drinking well now, but certainly no hurry to consume.

Deep ruby. Powerful and enticing nose of ripe red berry fruits and whole bunch complexity. Intense, somewhat challenging palate. High acid. Ripe fruit. Silky, yet grippy tannin. Good length and intensity of flavour. However, to me the wine lacked deliciousness, with some almost acrid notes in the middle palate providing some distraction from the lovely tannin texture. I like whole bunch Pinot, but I think this wine might have been better with less or perhaps even with more whole bunches. Still, a very good and competively priced YV Pinot, and one that will be interesting to watch develop. (91 Very good wine)

Second bottle. This time with less anticipation and without the hype that surrounded opening the previous bottle. Notes pretty much the same as my previous entry here. This time retried on the second day under optimal conditions. Still a good wine, but bumping the score down to (a still very respectable) 93. Highlights are the superb tannin structure and bright red fruit flavour, the downfall is the lack of complexity.

Slow-Oxed over 8 hours, a week after the 10 hour flight home from Australia. Very pretty wine, bright red fruits, nice mouth-feel and reasonably attractive. No complexity as yet, and I doubt this will ever develop into something special. Still, this is a great QPR at sub-$45 AUD. Probably as good, but no better, than the equally pretty 2012. I would commence drinking in 2017 and expect it to remain attractive until about 2020. An excellent example of Australian Pinot Noir, but the stratospheric scores given by some critics to this wine seems to me to be, well.... silly!! I will keep my remaining three bottles for another two years.
Opened a bottle of this on 22/01/15, the day I received my order. Very tight on opening, so tight. Showing nothing. A few hours in the decanter and it started to open up. First and most obvious thing was the tannin structure, very fine tannins that coated the mouth. Lovely mouth feel. Bright red yummy fruits, but not as complex as I was anticipating. Length was decent. Second day the wine had some acidity sticking out, was a bit too warm though so that may have been a factor. Maybe not as good as some are making it out to be, but a solid 94+ for me. Potential to improve.

black cherry and cinnamon spice, 1dimensional early. Then rolls in to something, nice grippy tannin, turning savoury and dry spiced, coming of age
