Popped and poured. More dark fruit than red fruit and the fruit was more on the jammy/baked side as well. Decent amount of oak still present and a hint of sweetness on the finish. Very smooth drinking. Not much left in the tannin department and acidity is medium at best. Worked fine as an end of night sipping wine and could almost work with some desserts that aren't too sweet. Would drink up if holding any.

Nice structure, dark fruit, balanced acid and tannins. Opened for a holiday party served with tamales, it was a great accompaniment. Drinking well now.

I've found that Ridge Zins tend to be very approachable soon after they're released and should be drunk by 10 years of age. This one is right at its peak. Very typical Dusi — in this case Benito as opposed to Dante — with lots of color and jammy fruit. If I have a quibble, it's with the high alcohol: 15.1%. I prefer a Zin with lower alcohol and higher acidity. If you want to try an outstanding Dante Dusi Zin — the two Dusi vineyards are across the road from each other — I suggest those from Stephen Ross Winery in San Luis Obispo.

Ridge's 2013 Dusi Ranch Zinfandel is showing well, offering up aromas of raspberries and blackberries, framed by a deft application of American oak. Full-bodied, ripe and heady, with lively acids and largely melted tannins, it's a touch high-octane to be truly seamless, and I'd rank this a notch behind the 2010 rendition which I drank last week, but it's still a very pleasant wine in this register.

Notes consistent with my 2019 bottle, but a couple of points more pleasurable. Aging nicely, probably at peak, likely to hold there for two to five years.

Deep ruby core with the faintest bricked edge. Stewed blackberries, sweet cherries, coastal bay leaf and black pepper. Barely showing any age, could likely go another 3-5 years and further develop. A little hot at 15.1% but not a knock you back big Paso Zin. Pretty great balance here with some brawn.

Served blind. Med deep ruby with garnet rim. Whiff of VA which blew off quickly Strong aromas and flavors of raisins, smells like PX. My first impression was 10 yo overripe Aussie Shiraz. While still quite tasty, this is really showing its overripe, raisinated fruit and it’s a less good choice to accompany food.

Compote of blackberry, dark cherry, and raspberry, moderate acidity with a little sweetness in the finish. Moderate to light body and light tannins, not highly complex but a compelling 100% zin expression that is drinking deliciously now.

Opened this 2013 Dusi with barbeque dinner. It showed crimson color, there was heat of alcohol on the nose, with pepper and spice. The fruit was obscured by the heat of the alcohol, and by unrelenting tannins. The body was thin and rather simple. The wine finished with alcohol heat. I would like to add that I have been a ATP member for several years, and have had other Dusi's that I enjoyed very much. This one is either just too young, or flawed. I don't think the fruit will ever develop to be rich and smooth. Likewise, the alcohol heat and tight tannins may not ever settle. This was a disappointing bottle.

This hasn't gotten substantially better since the last time I drank it. I'm starting to think that I just prefer Ridge's Dry Creek offerings. Still, it's a nice wine just rather simple and easy to drink. This is a great one to pull for mixed company because it should be perfectly drinkable for a large swath of the red drinking population--but don't expect to have the best bottle at a cork night.

Consumed at horizontal tasting of 2013 Ridge Zin's in the group with the 2016 Jimsomare and the 2013 York Creek. The Dusi Ranch was the last wine tasted for the night, and this may have been a disadvantage, but clearly the Jimsomare and the York Creek were superior.

I'm leaning toward 91 on this because it's not the best Zin from Ridge but it's certainly showing a nicely aged characteristic. I think it's young but headed for greatness in another pair or of years. Finish is shorter than it should be but the mouth packs a nice punch. On the early side of the peak IMHO so drink try again in 2020 and see if that's correct.

Served with chili-lime grilled flank steak, roast mixed color carrots, and salad. Note: 100% Zin, not the usual Ridge field blend. Look: nice crimson, moderate depth, consistent to rim. A smile. Smell: (Jane) deep dark fruit, prototypical Zin. (B) Raspberry/blueberry in there as well. Taste: yummy, tannins nicely moderated and balanced with the acid, long finish with some hidden dark chocolate in mid-finish.

Aromatic plummy chocolaty nose, rich; sweetish, fruity (black cherries), full of dark flavors, zippy midpalate, super finish. Loved it, but - not sure some of the other zins at $10 less aren't as good. Give it some time after opening. Perhaps not the best QPR.

This is the bottle that has sealed the deal. I will never purchase another bottle of Ridge. Aromas of Worcestershire and mildew. I don't think they have the best corks and therefore the wine is easily tainted. Surprisingly, it tastes good at the tasting room.

With homemade meatloaf (using Rotel tomato sauce, pine nuts, mustard seed), baked potato, and roast carots. Crimson/purple, no longer opaque but ood color to the rim. Cherry/blueberry nose, almost a tinge of sweetness. Nice. Jane is reminded a bit of a port - a dry wine that feels sweet. Worked well against a robust meal.

Paired with a tenderloin cooked on the grill, this was a good wine--not great--for the meal. Very deep ruby color, strong cassis and blackberry, it delivered what it was intended to deliver. A strong, bold wine to go with dinner of asparagus, tenderloin, salad, and chocolate cake. Frankly, it went as well with the cake as it did the tenderloin. Very good for the value. I recommend anything from Ridge Winery. I agree with the sentiment that another couple of years it may have been better.

Aroma: reticent scents of wood spice and wildflowers. Palate: Rich and spicy flavors of raspberry and plum with notes of baking spice. Light to moderate body and bright acidity. Somewhat green and puckery tannin. Needs a few years in the cellar. Should be a good food wine.
