  • 2 hour decant, served with smoked plate ribs, absolutely delicious, tannins well integrated, dark fruit, don't see how it can get much better!

  • Drinking nicely. Still has a lot of acidity, waiting for the tannins to relax as well with the acidity. A few more years and this will be firing on all cylinders. Drink after 2026?…

  • This is in a great place right now but will hold for a decade. Really nice BdM.

Consumed with Lamb Shank Osso Buco at Al Solito Posto. Superb match.

  • decanted 2 hours. Color so so much more dark and brooding than the 2012 Riserva opened las night. Dark, primary fruit that drinks well but should improve with time. I really enjoy this wine right now but it has upside from here. A-/A

  • Decanted 90 minutes. Did not get to taste out of the bottle but with 90 minutes this was really nice with dark fruits, nice concentration, and a long finish. Good balance and maybe not as ripe and rich as you would expect from a 2013 but i really like the balance. A-

  • One of the best brunellos I've had in the past year. Loads of zesty fruit flavors and well integrated tannins.

  • Pours garnet with golden edges. Legs are medium high. No sediment. The nose is cherry and red tart fruit. Upon vigorous swirling after an hour or more wet hay/funk appears on the nose. On the palate initially we get tart red fruits, i.e., cherry. Somewhat hot (alcohol), finish is medium high tannin. Body is medium. I think this is a fine expression of a six plus year old Brunello. Enjoyed with take out Italian food on the porch on a nice evening with the Amazon mix of "Italian Dinner Music" playing. My wife, daughter and son in law share the bottle. A delightful evening. Then only negative was that I wanted to hear Andrea Bocelli sing Con Te Partirò in solo but my wife insisted in the Sarah Brightman duet. She always wins in music selection. BUT, I'm just saying, Andrea Bocelli solo singing Con Te Partirò will add ten points to anything you are drinking.

  • Plenty of extract, perhaps too much in my view given the balance. Great fruit flavors initially, but it turns over time to a pretty harsh acidic, not tannic, finish. Raises in my mind the question of what role acidification is playing in how Tuscany is dealing with the impact of global warming (surreptitiously of course since it doesn't seem to be something the wine mags etc have discussed), and how some are managing it well and some are not. If this is an example, not very well at this estate..
I add that one of the ways I identify acidification, just my sense, is by its impact on the tip of my tongue. That never happens with tannin.Four hours in with this wine, when the harshness emerges, just leave it there, and you will find it settling on the tip of your tongue. If they really get it right, maybe not so much.

  • A wonderful straight down the middle brunello. Mid-strong aroma with inviting red fruits and ruby/brown color. First taste is a classic burst of red fruits - cherries and instead of oranges, a nice spice. Middle is smooth and finish is oaky with a medium linger of thise cherries and spice. Classic - not too bold but loud enough. Enjoy!

  • Pours a fresh ruby with perhaps a hint of gold around the edges. A solid + brunello di Montalcino with cherry and a hint of spice on the nose. Red fruit and cherry on the palate with drying tannin on the finish but not excessive. I think this will age well. I purchased several bottles because I love Tuscan wine and this wine received good reviews. I look forward to a tasting in a couple of years. Enjoyed this with take out Italian lasagna.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like cranberry, red currant and cherry. It tastes like cherry. The body is medium. The wine has linear texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

  • Opened four hours ago, but even still on initial pour this wine had TONS of reduction. It was so gross, stinky and funky at first. The whole first glass was not enjoyed, but after vigorous swirling on the second glass for some time, it did get much better. The nose now still shows some spicy herbal funk, with a green chili in there, some tar, and a general impression of a darkly complected rich effort. The fruit tends to the plum side of things. Palate is very tight and intense, with building acidity. Incredibly primary on the palate. The finish blossoms a lot, with a huge dial of acidity and tannins that take over. The flavors are very pretty, showing intense floral notes, raspberries, blueberries, and black raspberries. The finish here is the wonderful point here, with really nice intensity that's persistent and penetrating, as it dances back and forth between the acidity and incredible berry tones. Nice tannic balance. It's a funny wine to score, because the finish is so wonderful yet the nose and palate are honestly not all that much fun to drink. Let's call it 91+, because that finish is so good and is likely going to improve from here. But please open this with time in advance to see if your bottle too has that awful reduction that needs to blow off.

  • This is a serious wine, modern in style w cranberry, cherry and licorice. There is a touch of heat and it was a bit tight despite a decant. Hold for 2-3 yrs.

  • Benvenuto Brunello 2018, Montalcino centro; 2/16/2018-2/19/2018 (Montalcino): (Benvenuto Brunello, 2018, Montalcino) Consistent with my tasting of three weeks ago, this larger-scaled/darker colored Brunello offers a good sense of place/grape. A touch heavy at times, it seems to recover nicely ultimately showing good tension. Not yet fully integrated, some warmth and heaviness weaved in and out, though those visits were short and acceptable. I think it just needs 1-2 more years in the bottle to show its goods. 15,0% abv. drink 2020-2035. Based on potential and value, it's highly recommended

  • A Season of Change: 2013 Brunello di Montalcino: The nose showed dusty spices up front with ripe red fruits and sweet spice. On the palate, I found a soft expression with fleshy cherry and spice, but little else. The finish was saturating to the senses, as a mix of dry tannin and red and blue fruits held firm.

  • Benvenuto Brunello NYC (Gotham Hall): Benvenuto Brunello NYC. 2nd/3rd/4th passage tonneau with some time in grandi botti, too. A striking, very light garnet color aptly heralds the freshness and florality here. Already offering some elegance, it's coupled with some warm brown spices, dust, red>dark red fruits and medium+ acidity. The tannins will need another year, at least, to more fully integrate; shows lots of promise, should last 20 years or more. highly recommended
