Nice fruity nose of strawberry. Still a powerful wine with good fruit, cranberry and blackberry, followed by some leather and tobacco. Has some nice spice to it as well. Really solid. Short decant to get the sediment out (then was none) and drank over the next few hours.

Monday, April 10, 2023 - I had this one mis-labeled as a '13 in the cellar....drank alongside another '12 Brunello last night at HMCs for dinner. Decanted 90 min as was the other Brunello. This one much lighter in the glass, a little more bricking and whereas the Casanova drank younger, than a '12, this Tenuta looked, drank and felt older than a '12. Much less cherry, less floral. Seemed a bit more tired and rung out. Procured from the same shop about a year apart, cellared the same at home. This one was nice, but a good 3+ points less than the '12 Casanova last night. HMC said this one felt, smelled, tasted a bit Bdx-ish and I think he's right. It even had a little Bdx funk on the nose when first opened. A small amount left in the decanter with a topper at room temp to try the next day....will post an addendum should it warrant it. 89 the 1st night.
*addendum posted under the 'comments' 91 the 2nd night.
A very nice Brunello. Very Approachable, medium bodied with nice integrated tannins. Oak, leather, cassis and vanilla. Good QPR. Drinking well now and for a couple more years.
For my palate, this is past its prime. Not very good on PnP. Almost smells/tastes...expired? Thankfully, things got better with some air and on the next day, but it was not the wine I drank many years ago. It was still a very good wine once it got to breathe, but slightly disappointing because it didn't evolve the way I was expecting it to.
In the beginning, the wine was difficult, hard to read. After 3 hours of decanting, there’s been a transformation. In the nose some rubber, plum fruit, dark cherries with some Italian herbs. In the mouth, the start gives clean pure cherry fruit. Medium bodied. At the end some tannins pop up but they stay nicely integrated in the fruit. With warming up, some alcohol pops up. This is a nice Brunello, at its peak with still some years ahead. Given its price, this is surely a good value wine. But in therms of quality, you’ll find better quality in the appellation (at a much higher price)

One of my favorite producers, always an excellent QPR. Nice fruity nose and full bodied on the palate. Good purple fruit and some plum. Tannins are soft but present. In a good drinking window right now, but still has some legs to age.

oh dear had high expectations but either this bottle has suffered some degradation or this is truly an overrated wine. The overall impression was of a weak, light body Sangiovese with very edgy acidity and some rogue tannins. Nose had a confusing mix of primary and secondary aromas with some essence of wet towel that could point to a corked bottle. I have a second bottle so I will revisit. In any case needs a minimum of 30' decanting if not more.

A good food wine. Nice clear pretty color, aroma of sour cherry and dry herbs. Perfect acidity for the grilled chicken and cheese stuffed pasta it was served with. Tannins and acidity should allow for cellar time, but I kept going back for just a splash more, so at this rate it won’t last long enough to know how long it can last. I plan to go back and get more 2012 while it’s available.

This Brunello met all expectations after slow ox for an hour plus. Dark cherry, strawberry, rose and raspberry aromas adding leather, dark currants, licorice and toasted bread on the palate. Medium weight with balanced tannins and acidity. Fresh and young, ready to drink now or hold for five years or more. Well done!

Very good, textbook Brunello that is pretty reliable in every vintage. Juicy red fruit, ripe currant, tobacco and spice. It is drinking very well now, pop and pour, despite its youth. A very good value at $45.00. Drink now through 2022. I Don't think it has the depth and intensity to show as well in 15-20 years.

Good Brunello, however I felt it came up a little short. Ruby, brown colour. Earthy and red current flavours stuck out, however the length was not as long as I like from a Brunello. I feel this might open more, however for now I cannot see this getting above a 91. I preferred the Argiano Rosso to this.

Darker brick-red, clear. Average aromas/complexity - they're nice, but short of pretty. Med+ body, with avg acidity, resolved tannins. Very approachable already, there's enough to like at the moment that I can't think holding this any longer will bring about something better (i.e. trading freshness for the possibility of more complexity? nah). Despite the traditional vinification, there's a roundness here that comes across as a style, and not something grown per se. A good value, but a wine that hardly ever excites me; I suppose I like it for what it is. Looking forward to the 2013.
Bought off of a restaurant list at Victor Cafe in South Philly. It was an early drinking Brunello, ideal for a restaurant list. I found it more complex than the Vinous review indicated, with plenty of high toned fruit, elegant red fruit in spades, earth and cedar, and a decent finish. It's not a Beast of a Brunello for sure; it's more of an early drinking Beauty and I think it's extremely fairly priced either at current restaurant or retail price. The table had it paired either with a Gorgonzola encrusted filet or veal saltimbocca, and the earthy elements in either (mushrooms or funky cheese) really played quite well with the earthy elements of the wine. Really quite nice.

Medium-deep reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty, cedar & floral notes, dried herbs, some cocoa, spices and minerals. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums with earthy, spices, some herbs, mushrooms & minerals. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but has the fruit & structure to continue development from further aging.

Decanted in the bottle for an hour and proceeded to enjoy over the course of three hours. Really enjoyable bottle for the price. I would recommend holding off for a year or two or decanting for several hours prior to drinking. Definitely got better with more time out in the air.

See through crimson; soft and fairly subtle nose, floral, cherry, earth, warm leather; the grip on the palate makes it seem like a year would be helpful before enjoying young.

The nose displayed a perfumed bouquet with notes of tart red berry and minerals. On the palate, I found medium-bodied textures with dark red fruits ushered in by acid-driven silky textures. Hints of earth and spice lingered on the finish.

Local Wine Shop Tasting - Abbreviated Notes
Visual: Ruby, hint o' brown @ rim. Med. viscosity.
Nose: Dark raspberry, dusty tannin, leather, touch of alcohol, macerated fermenting cherries.
Palate: Cherry, leather, tar, nice acid, good tannins, balanced, dense but not heavy. A touch rustic. It wants to be paired with boar stew.

+. Bättre dag 2. Lite dammigt avslut dag ett, inga sådana tendenser dag två.
