Aromatics jump out of the glass, backed up by equally impressive flavors. Black raspberry, graphite, bell pepper, black licorice and a hint of mint. Nice acidity and tannins. Tasted over two nights (first night PnP) with consistent notes but better integrated night#2, so no rush here.

Ddaarrnn do I have some regret. This tastes as fresh as a '18 wine. Nose or bitter dark chocolate and framboise. Gobs of dark berries and red fleshed plums nicely balanced with savory herbs. Plush mouthfeel. Gentle tannins on the long finish. Day 2 brought out more leather and tobacco. So where’s the regret? It's very enjoyable right now, at 8 years young - I just wished I had more for 8 years from now.

Quite showy aromatically highlighted by impressive ripe blackberry and blueberry scents. Powerful flavors of rich berry fruits supported by a generous streak of acid tension and a hint of green pepper. Good length too.
Very good, although a tad sharp texturally. I like where this is now, although clearly fruit still in primary stage.

Detert has been my “go to” Cab Franc for the past 4 vintages. Just finished the last bottle of the 2013 - sad. On to the 2014 vintage there’s always a silver lining!

Last bottle and quite good...significantly better than the '14 edition. Split bottle over two nights. I'd say it is drinking beautifully now and really doesn't need much of a decant.

Quick 1 hour decant. Full bodied and round for a young cab franc. Sweet raspberry syrupy, milk chocolate, chalky blackfruit, and plenty of cassis. Tannins are still hard and needs several years to smooth. Definately not closed off and still enjoyable young.

750 Wine Tasting (Saint Helena): Tasting event at 750 Wines in St. Helena with winemakers Russell Bevan, Aaron Pott, Benoit Touquette, Roy Piper, Helen Keplinger, Dan Petroski (Larkmead), Sam Kaplan (Memento Mori, Arkenstone, Nine Suns), Tom Garrett (Dakota Shy, Detert), Jennifer Williams (Arrow & Branch), and others.
The 2013 Detert Cabernet Franc was served alongside the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon and a barrel sample of the 2014 Dakota Shy Moulds Cabernet (which was far superior to the Detert wines). The Detert Cabernet Franc was a hair more interesting than the Detert Cabernet Sauvignon. The Franc exhibited notes of blackberry, raspberry, asphalt, earth, clove, and wood.
Not an especially thrilling bottle of wine, and a bit one-note, but nothing out of place necessarily. A good taste, but nothing I'd go back for. 90-91 points at this stage.

It smells like plum, blackberry, lead pencil and blueberry. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium.

Fantastic. Rich, dark cherries, flowers, touches of herbs. Soft tannins and a beautiful finish.

Wow! I know not very useful, better review on next bottle. Pop, splash pour, 2 bs and third glass 3 hours later. Yum yum yum.
