Very similar to the 95. Drank this one right after we finished the 95 and both were very close. Excellent mouth feel. Very smooth. Not sure why this says 2014 end. Plenty of time left. Excellent wine.

wcchang nailed it... this wine is very big and fruit driven still at its age, but balanced nonetheless, and carrying plenty of non-fruit elements to make it a superb drink, loads of minerals, also in the first hour some herbal elements (in a good way), and a great dusty texture as should be the case for rutherford... this wine has lots to offer and will be striking to most in the crowd... well done

Excellent wine. I was pleasantly surprised that it is drinking so well now. Nice, rich, balanced intense fresh fruity flavors amoung other tastes like gravels. Amazingly, the old wine elegance and the new wine attractiveness find a perfect balance in this 1996 Lokoya. Complex structure with very pleasant flavors. Good medium finish. Totally enjoyable.

Sampled 5/30/10. Very much like the '98 only with more prominent and riper black fruits. Black fruits, cassis, tobacco, tar, some herbs and cedar box. A very interesting wine that is still going strong. Popped and poured and only took about 30 minutes in the glass to fully open. This wine should keep its current peak form for another 3 to 5 years.

Drank at Brown Bag (Wine Watch). Fairly typical dark fruit and casis on the nose and medium-full bodied palate. Well balanced with a pleasant medium finish. This may still have some time to lengthen, as it took hours to open up. Great wine.

Well rounded, probably at the end of its peak. No need to decant much if at all.

2/19/2017 - MC2 Wines Likes this wine:
Tampa Spring Break (the second); 2/17/2017-2/19/2017 (Various spots (homes, Mis en Place, Capital Grille)): What a real treat to get to try this. We always love the Lokoya wines but have never had the Rutherford before. This was in an excellent spot (aka - CT window much too short - drinking well in 2017). Lots of black fruits well paired with that Rutherford dust. Very well integrated. Great wine.
