Reductive nose with gunflint, citrus, smoke and crushed stones. The palate surprised me with soaring acidity in a warm vintage. It had moderate plus depth and length. PYCM has nailed the vintage.

Decanted into Voss ~1+hrs prior to serving. A bit reticent (probably due to it being served cold), but got bolder as it warmed up in the glass - that familiar reductive burnt-matchsticks bouquet, then bits of white-flowers, lemons/citrus. Quite a rounded texture, with a long penetrating finish (partly due to a bit of the "alcoholic heat"). With more time/air, this actually tightened up, where the minerality & tension shone through - a much reassuring outcome, I must say... That said, have no doubt that this will still improve with cellar age!

beautiful. opened - pale yellow, immediately reductive notes, lemon, white flowers; crisp acidity; the white stone citrus fruit rounded out as it opened and warmed; great minerality. everything that is enjoyable about a white burg!

A bit reductive at firstn then slightly opened up. A delicious Charmes, that will probably gain more weight in the coming years. Very balanced and focused, elegant with a oaky signature that suits the wine very well. Reminded me of the Coche style on the nose (toastiness, roasted corn, flintstone). Delicious now after a 3/4 hours in the decanter, but I will wait a few more years before opening another one.

Savory burnt tires reductive nose that dissipated not long after opening. Complex layers including herbs and fruits and round soft chalky acidity which sharpened a bit (pleasantly so) after an hour

Can't give this a higher score because of the way the nose is completely dominated by reduction (despite a lengthy, splashy decant), although there is also a hint of salinity. The palate is much nicer, with lemon/lime, flint and cream, and decent line and length. It's a pleasant drink, but on this showing definitely not worth the price of admission. This was 1/6, let's hope the next bottle (in 2-3 years?) shows better.

Meursault & Morey Saint Denis (Imperial Treasure Shanghai @ Taka): Initially this come across as bold, buttery and loaded with sweet ripe fruits. From a ripe vintage? Yes we thought so when blinded. Very powerful on the palate, good depth and richness but lack the tension and length of the Lafon. However the wine starts to wind up as it gets warmer in the glass: flint, cooler fruits with better acidity for the tension and freshness. Showing more and more salinity toward the end which is pretty much the profile of PYCM.

Popped, chilled and decanted for ~1-hr before serving... When cold, this came across a tad round/ripe (short of fat), with a nose of quality oak. However, this was where it got a lot more interesting as it warmed up in the glass - started getting finer, with great tension without losing any of the power. Scents of flint, plus tinges of salinity started presenting itself on the palate too. A good future, this...

Not tasted blind and gave us a clean reference point for the semi-blind 2014 Narvaux. These two wines changed my opinion of PYCM which I have not been enthralled by in the past as I thought sometimes they leaned too hard on the reductive side and occasionally unpleasant aromas. But this really showed well with citrus zest, gravel, smoke and the palate certainly had the 2015 ripeness but was not at all overdone.

From mag. So good so young I’d say seize the day. Swoops in. And either the seeds haven’t achieved the maturity of the fruit or they provide an unforgettable tension.

Fruit nose with ginger hint. Here comes the Meursault mouth-filling power and high acidity. Less depth as opposed to Ch-M we tasted in the previous flight. Generous wine, but still a baby.
Fruit comes from the prized Dessus sector (top part), in the middle of Lafon’s portion, next to Puligny Combettes and touching Perrières.

SLDS November 2017: Chalk, soap, orange and apple. Powerful fruit on the palate, intense but still has layers of flavour to give it dimension. Great mix of power and precision. Delicious stuff.

Salon Ficofi Paris walkabout tasting and dinner, no detailed tasting notes. Very good, fresh with gunflint, still a bit tight, decant.

Very nice acidity for the vintage. Better than 2016 and even 2014 surprisingly.
