Very nice. We had with some fairly fatty lamb, and the acidity was perfect to break through that, so was an excellent pairing. Well balanced, with a nice finish, probably at peak drinking time. Notes of olive, plenty of fruit. Only downside was a significant amount of sediment, so strain on pouring.

Day 1: Spice, mild funk, floral and celery stalks. Not very concentrated. Short to medium finish. Not a bad wine but certainly not worth $30. Well see if day 2 offers more. 87 points Day 2: Very modern and simple wine. Almost an embarrassment of the $30 this cost. Ripe fruit, wood, vanilla and coffee beans. This lacks acidity. Not impressed here. 85 points Day 3:

75 Tempranillo, 15 Cab and 10 Syrah from Castilla y León. Little birdie (aka Cellartracker) told me that this one was past its prime. I completely disagree. After opening, this wine is in a pretty good place. Does it knock you over? No. Better with food? Surprisingly better alone. The nose of this wine is fleshy and meaty. Rather expressive nose. Dark berry tart. Entry is dark, grilled meat. Mature blackberry and an earthy terroir note goes to the middle. The finish is a little acidic. Overall the mouthfeel was very silky which I was not expecting at all. I would drink now for sure, enjoyable wine.

Dark fruit, notes of cassis and berry preserve on the nose again. Compared to 2009 Mauro tasted alongside less ripe and sweet. A little fresher with more energy and better balance. Very good. 91-93

Blind tasted. Threw the group for a loop with guesses of Brunello, Ripasso, I said aged Left Bank. Shows a balsamic, musty quality that seems older than it is. Tannins still young and grippy, red and black fruits. Good wine.

Hour and a half decant, the nose was rich with dark fruit, chocolate, caramel and earth. The palate was luxurious with very well balanced tannins and acid that left a velvety feel to the wine with continued blueberry and chocolate tones in a full mouthfeel and a long finish. Excellent bottle of wine.

I with grilled leg of lamb. Nice fruit out of the bottle, muted earthy flavors. Nice chocolate, graphite back end flavors after about 30 minutes. I think this is as good as it gets.

Nice dark fruit, although a decant will bring out more flavors and nose. Some chocolate and coffee on the back end, but somewhat spices on the front. Nice bottle overall.

Deep ruby, with tainted rim, narrow relatively moving legs @14%abv. Medium developed aromas of cherries, candied fruit, tobacco, leather, toasted oak. Serious. Dry, medium acidity, medium supple tannin, medium-medium(+) alcohol, amd medium(+) body. Balanced, structured, firm tannins support a complex yet fruit-driven wine. Good length with significant role for tannins balanced by fruit sweetness. Really good, drinkable and intriguing. Great with grilled steak.

Great middle bodied Sardon del Duero. Frits and and pepper and balanced tannins make of this red a great company for strong cheese, meet, lamb or sausages. Great wine for the value

Medium(+)-deep ruby, very slow moving legs @14% abv. Straight on opening a restraint nose of cherries, basement, wood and volatiles. Later red fruit, vanilla, leather amd cocao reveal themselves. Dry, medium(-)-medium acidity, low tannin, medium(+) alcohol, full bdy. medium(+) flavors of cherries, sour cherry, laurel, licorice, mocha, pepper. Complex layered palate. Very well balanced, velvet mouthfeel. Excellent length with syrah-sweetness offset by dry, almost chalky, tannin.

Holiday Spanish Wines 2014; 7/4/2014-7/21/2014: Immediately attractive, forward but classy wine. Plums and mulberries on the nose, sweet but with only a hint of jamminess, a bit of spice, vanilla, and an underpinning of black treacle. Some sweetness on the palate, but structured and with well integrated acidity. Nice wine and drinking very well now. 14%.

A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied red blend, with blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate and spice on long finish. A very good and enjoyable wine, still young, decant. www.winelx.com

There is a lot of ripe fruit here. On the palate ripe red and black fruit, balsamic and spices. Oak is still quite present, with a slightly astringent finish. This should improve with some more time.

The wine is beginning its maturity stage, so the rim is garnet. This wine is dark cherry, its robe is high. Legs are thin.
The nose is intense, attractive, complex and elegant; it shows roasted and spiced aromas, very well complemented with ripe black and red fruit. Later on it shows exotic spices, herbs, red cayenne, licorice and hints of minerals.
The palate is intense and balsamic at first, and then fruity. It has a long finish, a little bit bitter, with spices and roasted aromas. Tannins are not rough, and the acidity level and volume is nice. Oak flavors should be integrated a little bit more; anyway, this vintage has a great level. The wine is balanced and elegant.

This is a great wine with nose of blackberries, cedar and vanilla from toasting. The mouth is great as well. Again dark berries with the right portion of ripe, well integrated, sweet tannins. Medium to full bodied with good finish - just great!!!

Abadia Retuerta Tasting (Bodega Santa Cecilia - Madrid): Same colour for a very different nose. Syrah has been calmed down and fusion is almost ready. I mean fruit fusion cause wood is over there all the time. Too much I have to say. Tannins are horrible. Woody mouthfeel, nothing refreshing here. Needs to soft.
Necesita suavizarse.
