5 X 5 X 5 100% Pinot Noir BdN (My House): Missed the disgorgement date, but think it was 2017. Do fort sure remember this was sans soufre, and 100% Pinot Noir. Of note, this plot is very close to the Le Parc parcel, which borders up against the Krug Clos du Ambonnay wall. Saltiy, sweet lime and what Aloka called a salted caramel. Tangy rtaspberry, red apple and Astrid's comment of tangerine. Over a decade old now, and without sulfur, I sense no oxidation , instead a freshness and good color. This is yet another good result from the 2012 lineup that is aging fine.

Caramel, nutmeg-ish, still fresh for having no sulfur. I got some tangerine/sweet citrus and nutmeg, almost like one of those cloved orange pomanders you get during the holidays. Still zesty, still full of life. Definitely notice the wood influence, but it’s not overwhelming.

Zero dosage and 100% pinot noir. Fresh and with a quit remarkable elegance. Medium+ acidity, great integrated. It delivers crispy and ripe red apples, brioche, honey, red currant, a clear mineral tone and a mixture of ripe citrus fruit. A long and pronounced aftertaste. Good and layered complexity. Clearly in a good spot now. I also experiencing a minor, but still quite pronounced, oxidative tone in the overall expression, which you have to like to enjoy this glass, but it’s absolutely within my personal preferences. A very well made wine.

Long weekend drinks: Wanted to share this as it was one of my champagnes of the year so far. Similar impressions to before, crisp red apple fruit, the ripeness helped to cover the zero dosage well. So well-balanced now, drinking at peak.

Chinese New Year Champagne Dinner (Tasty Loong): Blinded. Tirage Jul 2013, Disgored Sept 2017, Sulfites 0mg/l, Dosage 0g/l. Coming right after the Avize and Cramant, this was a lot more expressive both on palate and palate. Good lean acid, focus and linear.

Chinese New Year celebration with wine friends: My contribution. Superb tension and energy, layered yellow citrus fruit. Usually the zero dosage is obvious with Marguet but the vintage helped here to round the wine out to make it a very balanced and complete wine. Terrific and my second favourite on the night.

100% pinot noir, disgorged May 2017. The nose of this makes me swoon - just pure Marguet perfume. Nothing else smells like it. The wine is still super fresh but with an alluring developing edge. It flirts with closing down but remains a joy throughout the evening, and a leftover glass on day 2 is delicious especially as it warms in the glass. While this is drinking well now, I am inclined to hold my remaining bottles for a year or two before opening another.

Danish Top 20 champagne blind tasting vintage 2012 (24 btls) (Nimb): Horisontal half blind tasting of 24 top champagnes from vintage 2012. Conclusion: It is a great vintage. My topratings were to some extent unexpected. My winner was Diebolt-Vallois Fleur de Passion which I rated 96. In a shared second place with 94+ were Legras Saint Vincent (unexpected but I don't forget that 1996 might be the best champagne I have ever tasted so far. Try to get a btl. if you can. It is difficult but worth it - still in a perfect drinking window), Veuve Clicquot vintage(!), Moet & Chandon Grand vintage(!) and Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque.
This wine: Notes of overripe apple, nutty, toffee, caramel and dried fruit. Pretty mature. Typical Marguet oxidative style.

Loved this w/ oysters last night. Fresh and clean after 5 years since disgorgement the wine is really at a great point. No oxidative notes and those sharp edges from a few years ago have softened. Pretty wine with good fruit. All from a zero dosage wine. Bravo Benoit!

Bubbleclub--April 2022 (all wines served blind) (Opah in Aliso Viejo, CA): I follow MC2 and their notes but I have to disagree on the take that this is all edges. Last night we had the October 2017 disgorgement, poured blind side by side with the 2012 Les Bermonts. The GR showed peach, apple and then with air the cherry component really shined through, deep red berry signature. Slatey with great complexity and when this became still, it was a pleasure. At 10 years old, no sulfur added and to me no signs of oxidation at all showing.

All sharp edges at this point and even pouring it a bit later when it had some time to warm up and open up a bit more it was still pretty closed. Perhaps just needs some more time.

Torvehallerne in Copenhagen. Beautiful, typical Marguet with heavy bass-driven ripe fruit notes (notably, mirabelle plum) and the richness I associate with aging in wood, suggesting oxidized farmhouse butter without going there fully. But the wine is not oaky in any sense. Wonderful. It's amazing the natural fruit sweetness Benoit is able to coax from his fruit without dosage. This is lovely if still young, and should continue to evolve nicely for a few years as long as the fruit holds up. Worth even DKK 950.

Disgorged 09/2017. 100% PN, sans soufre and without dosage. We opened this 2 days ago, and simply tried to stop it up overnight to finish last night. It didn't hold the bubbles well so the final glass of this was more of a still wine. I dig the dill/dried green herb note on this bottle--very distinctive. Polished, with apple, dark cherry, lime curd and raspberry. This bottle showed a unique expression, one I enjoyed and while I preferred it on Sunday with the bubbles and the more lively expression, it does show the classy core on which it is built when tasted still. Terrific.

Marguet and Marie-Courtin, plus a little Savart and some Still Reds, Too (My House In The South OC): Disgorged 05/17. 100% PN, zero dosage. This was the best Marguet of the night for me, and reaffirmed why this is on my WOTY list for 2018. The length, fruit depth and balance of this wine is really superb. Deep flavors of black cherry with a lovely saline finish of red fruits and citrus. Excellent showing again tonight.

2012 Marguet Single Vineyard Champagnes (Passerotto, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose plays to the upper register with a spring-like quality to the tones of peaches, pears, red apples, fresh picked herbs, tidal pool aromas, quince, biscuit, and white florals. The nose really draws you in with it's charm and femininity along with excellent depth.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with high acidity. The acidity has a good bit of zip to it, but it is well balanced and not overpowering. The feel has some density, but it is still able to be light on it's toes with peaches, pears, red apples, fresh picked herbs, minerals, and biscuits.
Overall: This was a real expressive and elegant champagne. It possesses a good amount of poise already and it feels like it can benefit from about 3-5 years of aging.

Disgorged May 2017, zero dosage, 100% Pinot Noir. I have had this wine on my short list for 2018 WOTY for several months. It's impressed me both of the previous times I have had it. Once again, it is delicious. Salty, with black cherry, a light dried herb and citrus. It drinks with a focused, intense quality that I really dig. My hunch is that the intensity of this wine will turn some drinkers off. I though like it, as the energy conveys a sense of purity, clean and real.

Excellent. Pinot Noir and zero dosage, talk to me. The nose hints at sweet red fruit and light brioche. Palate is bright, clean and crisp. Light ferrous, light citrus, and red apple. Finish was a slightly clipped. This is great right now and probably stellar in 5-10 years.

Last tasted this at the domaine during our visit last month. I want to say this didn't bias me, as last night I was unsure which lieux-dit Benoit had poured for us, but I do remember liking it. Disgorged 09/2017, 100% PN and 0 dosage. To last night's bottle, wow. Delicate, gentle with a perfect balance. Aromatic of green herb, like a thyme (dill?), red fruits of strawberry and raspberry and some lemony citrus. Amidst the delicacy of the wine, there is a layering feel that is beautiful, framed by light mineral in the finish. My ending comment in my notes say 'insanely good'. Marguet has very quickly risen to the top of my Champagne heap, next to Vilmart and Miniere.

Disgorged 12/2017. This lieux-dit sits right outside of the village, and if I am not mistaken, is situated too very close to the walls of Krug's Ambonnay plot. 100% PN. Black cherry, mineral, chalk and other red fruits mix together here. To me, this was classy and has the same polish and purity as the other cuvees Benoit is putting together.

80 cm of red clay soils. Blanc de Noir. You can feel the depth of the souls notes Benoit.
And more barrel or at Least sherry character to me on this wines nose than it’s preceeding two compatriots. Or maybe just a clay and hint of cherry fruit to it but as dominque notes it’s got so much minerals. Apparently smoked trout nd salmon is just fantastic. Open and red on the palate. Quite harmonious. Doesn’t clip on the finish. And cut its fruit off like the previous two. Very very long and holds its length enormously well. Wow. It’s a baby with majestic potential.

Marguet - Horizontal tasting with Benoit Marguet (L'Esprit du Vin Copenhagen): Clearly darker than Les Bermonts also from Marguet. Aromas of apple and quince. Cedar "develops" in the glass. I have not scored the wine
