A delicious, bright and light coloured style of Grenache, what I have heard referred to as the postmodern style. Unfirtunately, I was not nearly as blown away as most below. I even had the fortune of having an open nose after proper decanting and chilled serving temperature. In the end it couldn’t hide its warmer origin and I grew tired of drinking it

I get weird stares every time I recommend Grenache to people, no matter where it comes from. The most common response is “oh, I don’t like sweet wines, give me something drier”. Unfortunately, this is the biggest misconception associated with this grape, thanks to the sea of cheap stuff coming from France and Spain. But Taras and Amber Ochota make sure that all these illusions are forever shattered. A minimum-intervention approach is applied: early picking to maintain natural acidity, ferments using indigenous yeasts, whole-bunch presses the whites and whole-bunch fermentation and longer maceration for the reds.
First and foremost, the nose on this is mischievous. Salted strawberries, pomegranate, savoury wood spice, bit of barnyard, bit of earthy garrigue. Medium-bodied and very shy at first, but with about an hour of air, it opens up to multi-universes. Bright, crunchy acid, grippy tannins and a somewhat warm, saline finish. Tightly packed, polished and ready to be smashed in one go. Superb.

T....Wow, much better: light body but big bold flavours and juicy exciting wine; grippy tannins after all that fruit; a Foodie style; pretty much genuinely dry. Great concentration, plenty of cellar potential.
Rec RP £33.00.....easily worth that

Grenache with clear Pinot Noir sensibility. After a few hours of air the nose develops nicely of blood orange, mossy undergrowth, cinnamon, ginger, pomegranate, rose water, cigar ash, and cardamom. The palate has medium minus tannin and medium plus acid. The finish is long carried by much of the same elements of the nose. Just a beautiful drinkable wine that I expect will age well.

Cloudy to look at. Great florals, rose water, red frogs and raspberry. There’s a kind of fruit sweetness but there is also a slight bitterness that counters and balances it. Fennel and spice. Bright and youthful but also has fine sandy tannin giving some serious structure. This is what Aussie Grenache is all about.

Very fresh and primary. This time I sense cranberry, blueberries and a whiff of strawberry. Very different from last time around.
This will continue to evolve. Wish I had more!

Wow! This is a fantastic wine, in a blind tasting is difficult to say that is from Australia. Fine, elegant

At this particular point there’s nothing there. Nothing. (nr)
...but after an hour, aniseed, raspberries. Pure and juicy. Surprisingly closed from the off. (88)
And a bit meatier on day two. Intriguing nose and fresh acidity. Looking forward to follow this. (90)
