A truly unique Zin from ancient vines, done with great care and expertise. Soft and lush, with jammy briar red fruit and a persistent mouthfeel that coats the palate. Lovely stuff.

After a quick pop and pour this gave me and crowd nothing, brief decant followed suit. Very disappointing. Day 2 much better. Less rustic than last bottle I opened in Spring. Still though an expendable weekday drink. Fruits, simple, nothing else really to say.

Color: dark ruby Nose: dark fruit, just ripe. Strawberry and whipped cream. Vanilla and mahogany. Something green. Sour orange zest Palate: medium-high acidity, medium tannins pretty biting still. Medium full body. Some alcohol burn and definite sweetness. Dark Plum but still not overripe at all. Barrel is there too. Very vinous, Balanced though Finish: medium
Good zin. Not overdone. Interesting because the notes are not precise but there is a lot of breadth. Palate is young here in my view, can go another 2 years +. I found it best after 1 hour in broad decanter.

This is business casual. Not flawed, not amazing, just a respectably solid zinfandel. Textbook flavor profile. Not something to age but get to sooner than later. I wouldn't seek it out again but have no problem having it around either.

Brilliant medium garnet color in glass. Medium body on palate, 15.2% alcohol does not intrude. Not as much depth or concentration as first expected but very much in the Ridge mold as opposed to say Turley. Still young and shy. Needs a couple of years to spread its wings. and take flight. Still a little underwhelming at first. Have three more bottles so I will reserve final judgement so stay tuned.

Last vintage of this specific Ridge Zinfandel. 16 barrels produced from 3 acres of vines from 19 different zinfandel selections from historic California vineyards. Done with the intent to research, preserve, and propagate these selections. 15.2% abv. Fresh dark fruits, cherry.

Of the three wines we tasted tonight, this is the one I ordered a couple of cases of. Why you ask? It's cheap, it's really good as a young wine, and it will get better with time. This is the best value of the Ridge History of Zinfandel Tasting tonight. The 2011 Hearts Desire is far and away a better wine but you can't get it for $30/bottle. In 5-10 years, the Heritage will be far and away a better bottle. So, for me, it's a no brainer since I have the storage capacity. I ordered a couple of cases during the Zoom call so that I'm at least toward the front of the line. It's also historic in that it's the last vintage of the vines that UC Davis manages in Napa Valley at this location. Great Napa Zin--it's almost hard to type that but I love so many of the Turleys and the Outpost so I'm a Napa Zin lover for sure--don't take that as I don't like my Dry Creek Zins either... Tell me your favorite child and I'll tell you my favorite Zin. We love them all for different reasons.

I need to save all my Ridge wines until the end of or past the drink period because this was amazing tonight. Silky smooth. Wish I had more.

100% Zinfandel. Seems little more tannic and leathery than a year ago. Went well with beef jerky.

Drinking at year three in the bottle. Solid, pleasant, not a wine you search out to buy.
