Quite stinky and volatile on opening, probably flawed. Nothing like two previous bottles from the same secondary market source. Color still has some red. No rating.

While it says on the label that it can benefit from "four to ten years" of cellaring, this still seems young, if delicious. Intense, long finish, great acid, balance of earth and fruit. What more could you want? Very Good+.

I agree with other tasting notes-- compared with prior bottles of the same wine, the fruit is drying out-- BUT-- the wine is improving. Overall, cherry liqueur nose and palate, with much improved spice and balance. The flavors are subtle and clearly past their prime, but fading into elegance. Drink now.

haven't had this in a few years. nose is still wonderful builds with time, but the fruit drying out, seems on its way over the hill. still smooth, spicy, damp forest floor, but with drying tannins. drink up.

The "hard edge" described in the WS review defines this wine for me. This is incredibly tannic, and without the necessary depth of fruit to carry it off. So bad that I would think it might be corked, but there's no obvious evidence of that. This has got tannins in the style of a young Dunn Howell Mtn. I'm thankful I didn't open this for guests. It would've been embarrassing. I've had a couple sips out of the glass. I'll leave the rest of the btl for tomorrow to see if against all odds, it improves. As it sits, this is terrible.

I love this wine! everytime i open a bottle i wish i had bought more. it has the right balance of red fruits, cherries with nice minerality and well intergrated very subtle smokey oak. really well balanced with a soft mouthfeel and smooth tannins. It is just one of those wines that keeps calling you back for another smell another taste. I know the 2002 vintage is hyped but to me this is one of the best bottles of Pinot for the price avaiable today. overlooked and under rated.

excellent burg style PN. Did not decant. Wonderful floral and cherry aromas from the beginning. Palate was weak and wimpy in the beginning. Amazingly, after about an hour in the glass, the light fruit flavors were bolstered by minerals, grilled meats and orange peel, and then finally shaped by nice acid. Amazing how the wine opened up and revealed so much. Incredible QPR at $20! A solid 92 - MTR.

Corked. What little fruit was there seemed young and fresh.

Similar to prior bottle, pleasant red fruit, shows well at 2 hours, fading. Drink now.

Very closed in the beginning, opened up after a while. Not a lot of fruit, may be past its prime.
