deeply colored, golden hue. opened up quickly in decanter and was singing... great mix of sb grassy lime and waxy lanolin, baking spices from new oak in background. on the palate high acids, lush midpalate, no phenolics, low alcohol. balanced wine with very good length, intensity and complexity, loads of finesse, a fine texture, excellent expression of place. clearly an excellent wine that is drinking at its peak.

Fairly strong colour but consistent with its age. Ripe fruit and sweet spice fragrance. Rich long palate, good acidity and length. Honey, citrus zest, tropical fruits, herbal and well integrated oak spice. Richly flavoured and pretty smooth, drinking beautifully.

Golden hue. Totally clean, bright fragrance, lightly herbal with lemon and gentle oak spice. Lemon curd, orange rind and a lovely gentle crushed herb spice. Fruit driven mainly. Soft and approachable with decent acidity leaving a crisp long finish. I’d say drinking ideally now.

Lovely mature nose of spiced apple pie, fresh red apple, lemon, hay, honey and shaved nuts. A touch of richness on the medium bodied palate kept in check with lovely acidity with fresh green apple and cinammon spice. Long savoury finish. In a great place to drink now so why wait.
WSET notes:
Medium gold.
Pronounced on the nose with ripe red apple, lemon, baked green apple, honey, cinnamon, hay, shaved nut, and caramel. Fully developed.
Pronounced and dry on the palate. High acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, long finish.
Can drink now but has potential for aging.

Golden color showing in the glass, a sign of bottle development or is it the Semillon? Tertiaries on the nose - beeswax, ginger candy, butterscotch biscuits. Dried pineapple and grapefruit zest. Lots of acidity, lots of freshness in the wine despite some indications of bottle age, lovely finish. Bone dry. This is in a very enjoyable stage right now although I can imagine that it will definitely improve gaining even more complexity over the next 5-10 years.

Drinking really young from mag (even decanted then capped 4 hours before) this is dumb on the nose but classic Pessac white in all the right ways on the palate. Cream, slightly tropical, narcissus with a pleasing richness and good length.

En-Primeur campaign for the 2021 vintage; 4/25/2022-4/29/2022 (Bordeaux): Served blind. Honey, waxy, slight oxidised with both green and bruised apple notes, slightly buttery note. Softly engaging, a little honey, pretty, a little texture, easy nice. This was bottle 5 of 6. One of my favourite white wines in the collection.
NOSE Intensity: medium Green apple, honey After finishing a glass, I took a whiff and smelled apple pie. On the nose, it already felt something was lacking compared to previous bottles.
PALATE Body: medium Acidity: high Intensity: medium+ Green apple, lemon grass, some wheat, citrus
TEXTURE It was smooth. But this bottle was a bit thin Less round compared to other bottles.
BALANCE Acidity was sharp and mouth-watering. A bit uncomfortable compared previous bottles.
COMPLEXITY Initially it was a bit sour. But the sourness died down after 20 minutes. Not much change after that.
FINISH Length: medium Slightly bitter finish, fresh apple, lemon grass.
CONCLUSION Readiness: Drink now... Unfortunately this bottle was really subdued compared to the previous bottles we had. The other bottles were all amazing. But with such high expectations, this bottle was quite disappointing. I have one bottle left. I really hope the last bottle will be like the first few in the collection. I didn't give this bottle a rating since it fell short of expectations from previous bottles. I also felt this bottle was not representative of what this wine should be. I didn't give a rating for previous bottles here on CT. But they would have easily scored 92-93.

Lovely straw gold colour. The nose had an immediate wafts of tropical fruits, citrus and oaky spiciness. The palate was wham bang and instantly hit you with exotic fruity, oaky, spicy fullness. Then the finish was ethereal, with and oily richness that coated your mouth with exotic fruity yumminess. The acidity was there, but only just so I would drink up in the ext year or so. This is a classic, not as good as the 05 or 07 but class shines through. I know this will not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is mine. This is about £80 if you buy today not cheap but a wonderful wine 92 points

Creamy and white flowers and ripe tropical fruits. The acidity is present but might not be enough to act against the stocky build. As a result, the wine tastes a bit flat as the aroma and palate things go out with time. This is at the plateau and I think should not age any more.

This has a fairly modest nose of honey, white flowers. The palate is delicious though with kind of exotic style with flavors of melon, kiwi, lemon and minerals. This is a fairly open knit fleshy wine and if there was anything it was missing it’s a bit of focus and definition through to the finish.

Served by the glass. Infanticide. In a crystalline style, this magnificent and elegant wine does not deserve to be wasted so young. Its aristocratic character, its purity and refinement on the nose and in the mouth with floral and mineral notes is immediately noticeable. Endless length. It will be a jewel type Haut-Brion but cutting ten times the price.

A point - glorious wine currently. Two bottles tasted in past week because 1st was so nice. Mid straw colour, layered aromas including pineapple, apricot, bit of citrus and hint of oak. LONG on palate with good acidity, more tropical fruit, hint of flint mid, then very long finish of 30s+. More left in the case, but maybe not for long! Good with food, fabulous just sipping - which is unusual for me with a white wine. Don’t wait, because you are missing a treat.

I served this in my wine course. Has evolved considerably since last sampled five years ago. Oak has been nicely absorbed, imparting a pleasant smoky spiciness in the nose. Intense stone fruit, especially peaches, in the mouth and continuing into the long finish.

Académie des Cinquante Bordeaux visit; 9/20/2017-9/23/2017: Double Magnum. A blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Sémillon. Extremely youthful, tight and mineral, creamy lemon, hardly any oak influence except for a hint of toast, creamy lemon with a hint of butter, only very slightly vegetal, fresh and beautifully balanced, mineral, understated elegance, slightly grippy finish, long. Still needs time to come together, loads of potential.

Slight toffee oxidation on nose and fore pallet. Bit missing in the middle but lovely flavoursome finish. Distinctly white Bordeaux flavours.
2nd night (poured into screwcap half bottle filled completely) it was much the same, however I think it would be risky and probably pointless to cellar this anymore. Perhaps this is the new low sulpher generation of white Bordeaux.

Showing just a hint of color for its age, the wine offers its honeysuckle, white peach, vanilla and grapefruit rind. The best of both worlds, combining all the sweetness of ripe, juicy, citrus fruits and freshness from zippy acidity, this is just now coming around. The slightly honeyed lemon, lime finish really sings today, and it's just getting started.

Up 10 points on two years ago. These wines (better white Bordeaux) really do seem to start to blossom at about a decade. Lemon colour, followed by the same rush of lemon, lanolin and oak on the nose--the latter now more in balance. Still, this seems more about power than complexity or elegance at this stage, so I believe it will continue to improve over 2-5 years and perhaps more.

Wine tasting with 10 others. I opened straight from the fridge and should have waited. The colour was a lovely pale gold. The nose had too much oak and drowned out the fruit. The oak, again was a little overpowering initially, on the palate. Most people didn’t like this wine as the oak was too much. However, after the first sip the finish took over and the beautiful fruit started coming through of tropical exoticness and grapefruit and was outstanding. When we tried it again later in the night the oak had reduced a lot and this was a much better wine. However it was still slightly imbalanced. 91 points

Outstanding, it is drinking so well now and has such wonderful flavours. I served this in my wine course. Excellent. Smokey nose with obvious oak, but then an intensely rich mid palate with ripe pears. A bit of oily wet wool in both the nose and palate as well (I guess they call it lanolin). The oak continues with some pleasant spice in the very long finish, where I find the oak more helpful than in the nose. P.S. After some time in the glass, the nose became considerably more complex, with particularly strong floral components. I suspect this is a wine that will improve substantially with age.

Belle couleur jaune paille clair avec reflets verts. Lourd. Nez très puissant de fruits blancs : pêches, litchis, sur un fond d'agrumes (pamplemousse, citron). Note de fleurs de verger (Pommiers).

Rupert's 1985 'Super Seconds' (The Medlar, London): Very distinctive, fragrant, slightly lactic nose that reminds me of something that I can't quite place. Starting to show a slightly waxy lanolin nose with air. Quite weighty and rich on the attack moving to a more minerally mid-palate and a nice long waxy finish. Lovely. Some vanilla custard apple coming through on the nose. ****

Bordeaux Night - 10 years and Older (Zeffir, Dunlop Street): Excellent. Opened for a couple of hours before I got to it, this had certainly developed quite a bit from a few years back when I tasted it in its youth. It had a lovely nose of flinty mineral and seashell and plenty of chalky scents underlaid with sweet stone fruit aromas, think nectarines and peach, and then a whiff of flowers and a nice shading of sweet oak. Rather more unobstrusive than the last time, the oak was now more of a seasoning than a main component of the wine. The creamily textured palate was at a nicer place too. Again, there were lots of chalky notes on the attack, and then a beautiful fresh balance to its midpalate which showed more nectarines along with sweet pears and green apples in a rather powerful but still very poised and nicely focused package. I especially liked the finish, which had a little bittersweet lift of lemon rind and a final little layer of oak lingering away into the distance. Very nice indeed.

2006 Bordeaux Masterclass: Alcohol :: 13.5% Very light gold. Fresh cut grass aromas intermixed with cold note, lemon, pear, quince and white flower with very light touch of almond nut and coconut oak. Quite expressive already with extremely good focus and freshness. The refreshing, intense palate show good balance and complexity with rich, slight oily entry quickly turn into very dry, clean with highly concentrated white and citrus fruits and spiciness that leads to fine, silky long finish with citrus fruits and huge mineral resonant at the background. Very clean with good mid palate depth. Still young with oak present but the started to integrated. There is no doubt the wine will gain better depth and complexity when the oak fully absorb by the vibrant ripe fruits. The wine hold itself firmly and getting more buttery, exotic ripe yellow fruits like pineapple notes at the end of the tasting but remain super focus and vibrant. I like this! Buy - Yes.

Bordeaux 2005 and 2006 Tasting; 10/22/2009-10/26/2009 (Wine For Asia Singapore Suntec): Vanillin oak with very aromatic nose of sweet yellow fruits, jackfruits, a bit of "D21 durian" and even some burg like muskyiness. WFA Bordeaux 2005/2006 Tasting by the Wine Review (Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore): Wow, this was surprisingly good. A touch of coconutty oak on the nose quickly gave way to musk, white flowers, slatey mineral and lovely clean peach and apricot fruit tones. Great balance on the palate. Rich, but fresh, with the ripest gooseberries flecked with smokey, flinty inflection. Long, well-fruited finish showed yellow fruit and a touch more flint. Very different, but every bit as good as the 2005.

Relatively pale with noticeable but not obtrusive oxidation on the nose. Some oak and richness. Almost a little hollow on the palate but giving an impression of a white burgundy profile, with a lemoniness and some presence but no great complexity.

Deep lemon color. Quite intense aroma of ripe pear, pineapple, apricot, sugar cane, hints of nuttiness. On palate, bone dry with quite high acidity, round/oily with medium body. Flavour of mazipan, nutty, grapefruit, lemon peel, vanilla. Fair length.

This doesn't seem to be aging very gracefully—lots of toasted oak (not reduction), and the formerly estery, NZ-style fruit is fading away.

Fantastic white Bordeaux still in its early age. Burst of flavor - flowers, honey, peach, minerals, tropical juice. Great balance, concentration and length.

It has grass and oiliness from the semillon, wonderful tropical and grapefruit from the sauvignon Blanc and fullness and vanilla from the oak. It really is in a wonderful place right now and it's moved on so much from 6 months ago. 95 points

As described by others, lots of oak, lanolin and reserved power, but overall I thought that this bottle was sulking, and perhaps represents a phase in the wines development between youthful delight and complex maturity.

Very light gold. Buy - Yes.
