Dark ruby color w/some edge bricking. Nose of ripe sweet fruited syrah w/light spicy overtones. Tastes of well-made syrah, medium bodied at this point, fading tannins, mild acidity, faint tar. Medium finish. Drink up sooner than later.

Bought at the winery on release. Cellared. Held up well. Still tastes like a young wine. Color: Dark ruby Nose: Wood & Spice. Palate: Spicy, Dark Fruits and Sweet….a little too sweet for me. Medium bodied. No tannins at this point. Not very complex, but I do like the spiciness. A good mid-week wine.

Ruby red color, spiced up nose of fat bacon heading into a round, mid palate of cherry/berry finishing with blueberries, plums and some cherries. Very good indeed. The best of the night that started out with an '02 Owen Roe, moved on to an '05 Efeste and finished with this: best of the bunch...

Sunday Dinner (Jeff McHugh's): VERY NICE Syrah! Great blackberry, coffee, and smokey pepper nose and flavors, with great integration of acidity and tannins. One of my favorite wines of the evening. Outstanding - 92 points.

Talk about potential. After having the '04, which was very good in a not-so-perfect year for this wine region. The '05 vintage has everything the '04 was missing. Grapes sources from both (OR/WA) sides of the Columbia. It's a gorgeous ruby red with streams of black cherry color. The nose is tight, spice & berries. Palate is lush & full of fruit consisting of blackberries, mocha which mingle with the rich, fruit w/spice that keeps it interesting. It is a bit closed off now & herbal due to it's youth. Winemaker is skillful at offering the Zerba line of wines at reasonable prices (<$30/b & <$20 for their blends/whites). They rarely make a single varietal, except the syrah (? & one other varietal). All of their reds are amazing in the '05 vintage (but pass on the Cab Sav...very muddled & too tannic for my tastes). Hold on to this '05 syrah for at least another year or two. Good value for $28/b. Hopefully the prices will remain this reasonable, as I wouldn't pay over $30 for their wines, as many other wine makers in this price point are heavy competition.

Beautiful, deep ruby color. Nose of berry fruit and on the palate lots of ripe berry flavors and the perfect backbone of tannin.
