Once again, quite good. Excellent balance. Expressive fruit. I noticed this time the fruit loses some steam on night two leaving the acidity a bit tart. I'd drink sooner than later.

The best of a vertical tasting. In fact, looking back at all previous vintages, it is clear that I favor this one. Apricots and pepper in a beautiful, purplish package.

Very correct. Drank over two nights and the second night it’s earthier, with orange and lemon, pomegranate, tart raspberry etc. More Corbieres than Priorat. Edit: Old School Corbieres…

Deep ruby purple Bright tart dark berry fruit, hint of oak. Quite balanced and easy to enjoy now, but these age so gracefully. A recent 2001 was lovely

Medium purple red color, lots of plum and black fruit, some smoke. Great mouthfeel and pleasant finish. Really enjoyed this, great change up from the usual

Dark purple-red color, nearly opaque. Blueberry and licorice notes on the nose. Palate has vanilla, blueberry, some pine, licorice, and a medium-long finish. I think this is one of the better vintages of Buchignani produced thus far. I really like this particular bottling from Ridge as a change of pace selection with grilled fare. It's more substantial than a lot of the Carignane you get from the South of France but I don't really see any reason to cellar it. Drink.

Dark ruby. On the nose, dark fruit, black pepper, lilacs, a light note of pomegranate. Palate soaking dark fruit, intense sweetness in a broad acid frame, deep puckering tannins with a crust of concentrated dark berry preserve, medium body, long finish. 13.8% alcohol. Lovely with lamb shepherd’s pie.

Light wine, but as others have noted it’s very bright with good acidity and fruit flavor. American oak definitely becomes more prominent with more air, but it doesn’t detract from the wine. Might be better values out there for a midweek wine, but this is great as a change up.

Very nice, fresh, energetic, full fruited wine. Dark fruit, bitter nuts, smoke. A typical very nice Ridge Buc Carignane. In a great place. A really nice food wine and great for the price.

Opened for 2 hours. Color is reasonably deep ruby. On the nose: cherry, a bit of oak and something meaty. On the palate: Cherry, cassis, plum, baking spices and vanilla. Good acidity, pleasant mouthfeel. A good warm weather red.

I haven't typically liked Carignane as a primary grape in a blend or as a varietal. I find it a little too simple, even flat. But Ridge manages to elevate the grape in complexity, mouthfeel and finish. Some of it has to do with oak....tannins, a little spice and vanilla (I'm guessing), but also the mouthfeel and balance are more impressive than previous experiences with this grape. And it's 100% Carignane, which makes the interesting profile even more impressive to me. very nice.

Medium-dark purple ruby. Some umami up front that then turns into a simple nose of dark fruits, spice, and a bit of alcohol. Medium-light bodied with high acidity. Palate is full of fresh fruit – cherries, plums, strawberries, and blackberries. Medium tannins that are sharp on the tongue that soften up to a cocoa like texture by the finish. Long herbal finish of oak – dill, pepper, leather, and some vanilla.

Exceptional vintage for this wine. The build it's excellent. Lively acidity under generous fruit. Light tannin. The fruit is nice and fresh without being big or ripe. Just nicely powerful. Mind you, it's pure Carignan and not real complex. But the vintage seems to have the home run of showing off bright somewhat rich pomegranate and plum while developing lovely structure. Real good.

Tart, acidic, ultimately mediocre now. Maybe it’ll mellow out a bit in a year or 2

Needs a year or two, but otherwise a very nice, typical Ridge take on Carignane

Dark red; medium body; on the nose blueberry, cherry, and tea; for the palate lots of acidity followed by dark fruit and medium finish.
Nice with red pizza, but not with white truffle pizza.
