W chicken tacos. Very fresh dish, good combo with the wine. Super elegant merlot. Good fruit body and length. Very well made and interesting. No sharp edges, good earthy flavors. Good example of top merlot.

Nice wine, young, lots of structure. Great acidity, grippy tannin. White pepper and bell pepper, some eucalyptus and dark berry fruit. Drinking well for such a young wine.

This is an amazing wine. Beautifully complex, long finish, strong by itself and amazing with the 30 day dry-aged steak. The only thing missing was perfection, I have had a better wine and this was almost there but just not quite.

First of two went down tonight. Man, what a smokey and meaty Merlot. This one has quite a bit of black cherry and Bramley fruit, but actually quite a bit more au jus and iodine than I usually see out of these. The complexity was all over the place here: everything from blackberry to brambleberry to meaty smoked barbecue and a moderately savory character here. Finishes with a lot of black pepper and savory baking spice. A rather full gamut, very comprehensive merlot from fruity to savory. Delicious. The other one probably will not survive much beyond this experience!

This was an easy to drink merlot with something for everyone. Not so heavy as to become jammy, but nor was it thin or light on its feet. Had a bit of substance to it, yet alcohol was in check. A good with for the Thanksgiving table.

Color: dark ruby with purple reflexes Nose: blue berries, quite ripe. I would say some black berries as well. Less red fruit. Whiff of vanilla and dill. Leather and fresh earth. Strong intensity Palate: medium acidity, medium tannin that is very refined and pleasant for a full body. Intense. Confirms the nose. In great balance even as it is so powerful. Hint of sweetness, not distracting or unpleasant, rather adding to the rather monumental size Finish: long
New world but so fine and balanced. Decanted 1h, was great, left decanting overnight, was gone. That said, this could go very long in cellar quite clearly - but it's good now, not too youthful at all in my view

Moderate red in color. Nice red-fruited nose. With little air, the finish was tannic, however, with days of airing much more pleasant and balanced. Needs time and at least a day or two of decanting.

Pale ruby. Aromas of dry heath, blueberries, lychees, lilies, with an initial metall electric note that integrates after a few minutes (an argument for decanting, but I always like to taste the wine right out of the bottle). [This was gone the second night.] Pure fresh black cherry fruit on the palate, medium bodied, nicely crisped by medium acids, a mild tannic bite at the back, notes of mocha on the long finish. Surprisingly fresh for its 14.5% alcohol. [This was delicious and beautifully integrated on the second night, so upgrading to a 93.]

On Day 1 slow ox 2 hours, and it barely opened up; plum, firm tannins, forest floor. Day 2 it was less tight with more rounded tannins, camphor, black plum with earthy nuance. Medium to full bodied. Probably a 4-6 hour decant would have sufficed on Day 1.

Always a fan of Ridge. This one is a good merlot with light fruit, some decent earth tones, and a dry oak finish. Merlot gets a bad rap, but this is consistently a good wine, year in and year out.

Medium ruby. Nose of soft plums, Cola, Mocha, doves. Quite tannic with a moderate fruit presence, medium acids. The palate does not follow through on the promise of the nose. Short finish.

Drank this as part of the Ridge virtual tasting on their estate wines. In the tasting they said that this would be hard to pick out of a blind tasting as merlot versus cab, and I agree. Not that it’s a big dense wine but rather a good structure with complexity.

Should hold off for a few more years. Big tannin, no complexity.

Round and supple, but with enough dusty tannins and acid to entice.

Judgement of Singapore - "Other Varieties" (Singapore): Dark plum, mint, and a little jam. A touch lightweight in the mid-palate.

Seems on the simple side. Cherries, plum, currant, spice aromas and flavors. Tannin in the finish.
