  • Drinking very well right now. Fruit is well integrated with the earthiness and acidity. I wouldn't wait any longer as it doesn't seem like it could get any better.

  • Waited too long to drink... thought it needed to decant, but even after an hour it was never quite what it should have been...

  • Blind home wine tasting: I could hardly believe this was a Pinot. No violet and rose aromas - almost as though I was drinking a totally different wine to most of the other tasting notes. Maybe age has not treated it well. Initial acidity is strong and hot and one cannot get over this acidity - a few hours later the wine had softened to a good medium body in the mid palate but then goes hot acidity to finish. The wine is beginning to show a light brown complexion.

  • This was an outstanding wine and one I wish I had more of. After some disappointing CA Pinots with a little age on them I was scared into open my last bottle of this. Still youthful but with some development, wonderful spice for a CA Pinot layered into some bramble and blueberry fruit. Perfect balance in the mouth: sweet fruit, wonderful spice, silky but firm. Terrific.

  • Last tasted right after I purchased the wine upon release and I could not get by the acidity. fast forward 5 years and It is really beginning to integrate nicely. The acidity is still very snappy, I doubt that will ever diminish. However, the mid is entering into a secondary phase and wrapping itself around the structure. Fiddlestix always has that dusty, red fruit flavors reminiscent of Bien Nacido and this wine shows that side prominently. I would say this has a few more years to peak but it is worth a taste now.

  • hitting its stride. Had waited a while to get into these as the first I drank WAY back was just too damn tight. This was pretty ready to rock pop and pour, though did improve a bit over the evening. Dark cherry, nice foresty/dirty aromas, a bit of that funk from the srh area and just a touch of a green/herbal side, barely there, but nice. Would drink up in the next year or two.

  • Semi opaque dark brick red color. Aromas of wet earth brambles and dark black fruits. Obviously ripe and with great structure. Chewy texture with nice acidic backbone and smooth but very obvious tannins. Quite tight and tannic on the first day, bottle was open for three days and improved each day. This is good stuff and will last a long time. Not ready yet.

  • Decanted and drank half of bottle over course of 2 hours. Beautiful pinot nose of sour cherries, forest floor and a little funk. Was great while cooking dinner and was wonderful with food. After dinner it closed down aromatically and on palate. This is a food wine for sure. Last bottle unfortunately as I was looking forward to another in a few years.

  • Deep ruby. Balanced aromas of black cherry, earth, spice, and oak. Silky smooth on the palate, with tastes of cherries, forest floor, and spicy oak. A fine representation of California pinot.

  • Served with braised duck breast in an apple/maple glaze. Decanted for one hour. Very dark for pinot with a pale rim. Somewhat shy nose of dark fruit. Seemed somewhat unbalanced with an intial berry tone and some oak and a short finish. Purchased directly from the winery but a bad bottle perhaps?

  • wow. This was good. I am typically not crazy about pn in general, however this was a great bottle of wine. Medium body, big spicy nose and great body. Went great with leftover vegetable soup and even paired well with fresh strawberries. I am on Fiddleheads mailing list so I can get their sauvignin blancs, which are great. Looking forward to trying some other pn's that they offer.

  • Dark opaque red color. Lush aromas of wet earth and black cherries. A big wine, with ripe fruit and great structure -- but perfectly balanced -- this is not a fruit bomb. Chewy texture with nice acidic backbone and smooth tannins. Over the evening, the wine put on weight and the sweet, ripe fruit became more prominent. This is certainly a pleasure to drink now, but it has all of the components to age.
