Time has done wonders for this wine - dare I say best Zin ever for me? Id say so as this was beyond great - still plenty of mature fruit and lots of tertiary earthy goodness. Top 5 winery in California hands down.

This is an old world style lovers Zin. If you like the elegance and acidity of Sky Zin, this particular bottling will appeal to your palate. Lighter, racier, zipper, this mature Zin has lost its baby fat and and is in lean, mean fighting form. Elegance has replaced flabby softness. You know it's a Zin, but it's more laser focused than many efforts, even from Ridge. Great with food.
Personally, I wished there were more producers making Zin in this style instead of plummy jammy woody berry.

Poured with grilled steak, and roasted mixed veggies. Did not decant. Medium garnet, touch of brick at the rim, a little dull. Cherry and a bit of spice on the nose. Medium weight, some berry/cherry, a touch of acid, medium finish with almost of touch of sweetness toward the end. This one is starting to feel a bit tired.

This was pretty good, surprising after my bottle several years ago. Smoky, oaky, blackberry nose. Core of blackberry with a nice punch of American oak, almost too much. Acidity keeps it lively, especially on the back end. Plenty to like in this bottle at pricing on the low end for Ridge's zin portfolio.

Enjoyed over two days. Good color, aromas of dark fruit and oak. Palate has come together nicely: fruit, oak and tanins that carry through the finish. Not as "plummy" as some other Ridge offerings, and more rewarding as a result.

Rusty ruby. Clarity. beautiful. Alch on the P&P, then some nice spice, Asian, fall spices, jam, Light glycerin feel, spicy, sweet and light on it's feet, so heat, sweet and then a touch sour cherry, raspberry. Nice acid, fruit and tannins balance, some upside but not much. Drink over five years.
Looking at older notes, seems the acid, sweet vanilla oak have balanced in with the jammy jam sweetness and has matured into a nice wine, with even more balance to come in next 2 years

Rich ripe juicy Zin fruit. This has a noticeable impact from the Carignane in this wine. Bright acids, wood is integrated. Lovely long juicy finish. Slow O'd for about 5 hours.

Part of a Ridge July 4th "tasting" - Sullivan, Dusi, Jimsomare and Stone Ranch. Jimsomare - WOTN - Many also enjoyed the Stone Ranch. All bottles enjoyed by the group.

Simple, straight-forward wine. A lot of fruit, but not much complexity. Fine, with a hamburger and lamb-burgers done on the grill - which is how we had it on Sunday.

2/12/09: Dark purple color. The nose is pleasant with red fruit, spice, and pepper. The flavors are ripe rasperry and plum, spice, pepper and herbs. The wine is medium bodied, with good balance, enough acidity, and soft tannins. Medium long spicy finish

Smells of intense raspberry's...well balanced...complex...but a little early...the carignane mellows it out..great compliment..I would drink in two years from now. Ridge rarely fails..

Full of dark fruit and a surprising portion of vegetal character (not quite green pepper like some cabs, but maybe a riper yellow or red bell pepper). On the palate, this wine is hot, acidic, and a little rough, but finishes long and with a ton of black pepper and spicyness. Will probably improve over the next few years. Although this is not as good as other offerings from Ridge, it is still an excellent Zinfandel blend.

Delicious. Plenty of delicious complex fruit still there. Stored perfectly since purchased from the winery as ATP.

Drinking very well with soft fruits and minerally earth notes. Will hold for quite some time if necessary but good now.

Vanilla on the nose. A little sharp but decanter one hour it softens and shows blueberry flavors and some oak.

A little green and a tad plain. Does not pop. Reminds me of some of the crap Ridge was making in the early 00's. They need to do better.
