To us, this was a bit “old world.” Not being a fan of French wines, “old world” isn’t something we target. This was good - not great. Overall, I prefer Ridge Zins.

Not sure if this got cooked during delivery or befell some other calamity, but reading the other tasting notes (and being very familiar with other Ridge products) there is no doubt it was off.

Opened for 3 hours. Color is deep ruby. On the nose: Raspberry, mixed red and blackberries and a hint of vanilla and cranberry. On the palate: Cranberry, raspberry, pomegranate and little bit of orange zest in the background. Good acidity and ok length. This is quite good. Worth seeking out. Very easy drinking but not a simplistic wine. I am liking this much better than my first bottle.

Same as my note last year. A very structure forward wine but just not quite the fruit density for improvement with age. Very Old World that way. Makes for a good dinner companion with foods that are better served with acid and tannin strength.

Deep ruby red, tons of fruit *raspberry, dark cherries, blackberry), light to medium body that grows on you as you go, soft tannins and a lush mouthfeel.

PnP. Color is quite dark ruby. On the nose: blackberries, mixed red berries and pomegranate. Quite a robust and enjoyable nose. On the palate: Mixed black and red berries, blackberry liquor (very nice), cassis. This is soft , round and easy drinking. I think a perfect guzzler for summertime.

We planned on a Trousseau for our light red with spicy Thai food but the cork had other ideas. Never would have believed that a CA Carignan could pair well but the fruit was so bright and forward that it all worked. Oh, and the wine is delicious.

Decanted an hour. Deep clear ruby-purple. Nose of bramble and American oak – not too much to dissect here. Light bodied, medium-high acidity, and tannic. Simple but fresh palate of plums, blackberries, and bramble. Chewy tannin structure that brings in granite, graphite, and tea. The mineral structure persists in the finish with black pepper and a mild backdrop of the typical Ridge American Oak herbal profile.
If someone asked me to open up a ‘bold’ Pinot Noir, I would open this up instead. I think this vintage could use some time away in the cellar to help it develop some. But I like it this year.

Deep ruby Bright tart red fruit Bright acidity with a distinctly bitter finish keeping this quite fresh and interesting for a “blending grape” Lovely And this may last well. A 2001 opened just two years ago was quite fresh and spectacular.

Less fruit than the last few vintages but strong in structure. Slightly earthy. Medium strong tannin with a green edge. That's probably the biggest surprise. Strong acidity as you expect from this. The fruit depth just isn't strong. So that tannin wants some age but the fruit says otherwise. I'm drinking this over the shorter term but its got the structure to experiment with some cellaring. The vintage variation in this bottling really harkens back to older times from older worlds.

Dark color, almost purple. Raspberry, strawberry, & citrus on the nose. Blackberry and cranberry on the palate. Some oak, but not overly so.
Good acidity. Chewy tannins. Long finish.
I quite enjoy this one.

Good fresh purple fruit. Dark acid. A good, but perhaps more plush than usual version of this wine.
