Glass two after three or so hours in the decanter. Some almost porty notes on the nose, with some dried fruit, pepper, spice, and something vaguely honey-like. Oakier at first, but better integrated over time. Grippy, with bright acidity on the palate, cherry and spice. Typically balanced from Ridge. Nice stuff.

Opened for 2 hours. Color is deep garnet. On the nose: Red and black berries, bit of cherry and vanilla and a hint of something vegetal. On the palate: Red and black berries, cinnamon and oak spice, touch of vanilla. Length is ok, nice fruit not jammy. Solid wine that drinks very easily.

I may be a bit too sensitive (weeping as I type) but this was nothing more than liquid campfire ash. Down the drain it went. Another poor showing for the 2020 Ridge releases.

Medium ruby-purple in the glass with aromas of crushed raspberry, vanilla custard and earthy undertones. The palate shows pleasant acidity with reserved notes of blackberry, cherry, umami and bell pepper. Medium intensity tannins persist in to the finish.

Anton’s Wine Tasting Notes Winery: Ridge Varietal: 100% Zinfandel Area/Appellation: California/ Sonoma County/ Dry Creek Valley/ Funsten Ranch Vintage: 2020. Price: $37 Color: dark ruby purple opaque Legs: slow to medium Nose: raspberry and blackberry jams, an earthy note, some plum and boysenberry, pepper, red licorice. Thanks to vino vidi vici of Cellar Tracker whose notes said “soy.” I get that Palate: raspberries, blackberries, boysenberries, red licorice, pepper, Finish: Rich, luscious, with the raspberry and blackberry jam red licorice some of that black olive and once again some light pepper coming through. Comments: I decanted this in my Riedel Overture stem for 2 hours. I love how young Ridge’s will open up with just a good 2 hour decant, to give you an idea what’s going on. This doesn’t have the huge depth that I have tasted in previous vintages but it still has very nice body to it. This is a stellar example of an intro to Ridge Vineyards 101 and a great example of a Dry Creek Sonoma County Zinfandel. Pairing Suggestions: I just brought home some beef ribs from Dillons and I added some “Night of the Living Sauce” from Kansas City to spice it up. Score in terms of Vintage: 91 Score for the Wine: 90 Value for the Money: Very Good Date Tasted: 10/05/2022 Tasted by: ACK

The 100% Zinfandel. Ripe and pure Zinfandel fruit to it. Delicate yet trixie with acid I am being told. Never had trixie as a tasting note before. Delicate sneaky acid driver.
This is terrific - 100% Cali Zin that displays its bold character yet manages to refrain shouting from the rooftop.
Blackberry jam, toasty oak, bell pepper, molasses, soy, black olive, with a long spicy finish. All the complexity that attracts me to Zinfandel.
It's young - Ridge products require cellar time to settle down and knit together. Bury a few and come back in 5 years. It''l still knock your socks off, but will be a bit gentler when doing so :) ** Finished last glass on Day 4 - decant!

It’s striking how different this is on the nose compared to the Paso. Richer, darker, cooked fruits on the nose. The oak is less obvious. Really ripe black cherries and a hint of blossoms. This is rich, round and full on the palate with more black cherry juice, plums, velvety, mouth-coating tannin. This and the Paso really show the nature of terroir. Both virtually 100% Zinfandel but show so differently 93

Crimson in color. 14.8% ABV. 100% Zinfandel from Funsten Ranch. Enticing nose of red and black fruits, plums and cocoa. Medium body with tremendous acidity. Rich and savory. Strawberry, black raspberry, earth and pepper on the palate. The finish is long and supple. Super Zinfandel that is a perfect reflection of the Dry Creek Valley. Best over the next 3-5 years.

Jammy and warm with some oak and tobacco. Full of dark red fruit. Silky and smooth. Great with barbeque ribs.
