Tried over 2 days. Initially a bit short, though lovely truffle, earth, and wet limestone was there. On 2nd day, it opened to a beautifully elegant wine, with richer red and dried fruit, brown leaves, and long finish. Still evolving. Very, very good.

{Purchased on release, perfect fill; PopNPour consumed over 5 hours} Reticent aromatics to start, and both depth of palate and finish were a bit constrained, yet satisfying. Red crisp fruit on palate, not quite cranberries and some strawberries; no black fruits in this wine. Nose did not develop very much and I found myself glad the wine had the benefit of the Les Cailles vineyard exposition in a so-so year for NSG. Both the Chevillon Vaucrains and Les St Georges are a bit better in 2006. No rush to drink but do not expect any upside at this juncture.
Grippy tannins still present, it may need a few more years, but it will be a race between the fruit dissipating vs. tannin integration. Fortunately, I won't have this problem, as this was my only bottle of the 2006.

Short decant. Rich fruits nose with v ripe raspberries and light black cherry. Notes of rose and savoury undertones. Palate is ripe with good acidity and clear, but fine tannins. Light fruits but good balance. Some savoury notes. Perhaps lacks some depth and persistence. I doubt this will improve much from here. Drink now-2021.

nice, pretty four square, roundish fruit, decent structure but slightly on the soft side for my tastes... fair QPR for the price I paid ($60)... drink this in the next 5-7 years (I couldn't help notice that the CT drinking range ended in 2060... not sure the '06 vintage is up to that (in fact I'm sure it isn't)... [added this later] went and looked at the user dates and they said drink until 2026... 'wisdom of crowds' gets it right again!!... I guess the 2060 end date was from a professional reviewer named John Gilman (who I don't know)

Weekend in Minneapolis; 8/17/2018-8/18/2018 (Various Locations): We had two bottles go around the table of this. I just tried from the one. I appreciate the fruit in the bottle (lots of cherries). Lower on the earthy side of things. Very easy to drink and not overpowering, but also not always what I expect from a Burgundy. I appreciate it though and on the heels of the Quivet it was a nice contrast.

Showing a little orange on rim. Medium intense nose with ripe black cherries, some violets, a little earthiness. Palate has good depth and power with firm fine tannins, good acidity and a clear black cherry fruit. Some persistence & limited secondary flavours as yet. This wine is good but is not delivering much beyond its initial flavours at the moment and it's certainly showing some really quite dry tannins. Question how this will improve. Drink again in 6-9 months to reassess.
Tender and delicate pinot aromas, like in a Chambolle. In the mouth the wine was more rustique, tannic and actually not delicate at all. Not sure if it was due to the the tannic vintage or excessive use of oak. Anyway, it was firm and concentrated, and I guess it will improve. Dry, tannic finish.

Tight, elegant, and formidably intense. It's a wine short on social graces, yet capable of keeping aloof and unaffected. No, less mysteriously put: it has a very tight and uncompromising finish, but the scent of violets and red berries, and the linerar nature of its tasting curve keeps its firm finish in perfect balance - for those of us who are forgiving of these qualities.

Nose very tight with some light red fruits and floral notes. Palate similarly so - light red currants and violets. Good acid and fine, but firm, tannins. Feels young - not developed any vegetal notes at all. Drink 2020-?

Opened and poured, this wine begins by showing a mix of mature and youthful elements. The initial red fruits give way to dark, brooding fruit with airing. On opening, this wine seems somewhat disjointed with a short finish and lack of concentration on the mid-palate. Airing brings out depth and body with the wine giving a more favorable impression. At this stage the wine benefit from from about 30 minutes of airing. This wine does seem to be at or around its peak.

After an odd beginning of camphor and reduction this young wine settled down nicely. After an hour in bottle the wine sweetened a little and showed sweet, quite dark cherries and a little shrubby. Call it herbs or briar. There is also a lovely spice aroma- nearing Vose-ish. It has a tasty entry, mixing sweetness and tannic structure, and a little dark mineral. It is a little short in the middle at this point as well. Overall it is quite nice, albeit young, and worth sitting down with for a few hours. There is a good chance this wine will better. It would be nice if it approached the 1990 in quality.

Elegant and stylish, but still young and tannic. Decanted for ca. 1 hr. Refreshing nose with lots of cherry and dark fruits (rasperry, cassis) and a touch of smoked bacon. Very well balanced and quite strong bodied for a pinot noir. On the palate, the same dark fruits with medium and nicely balanced acidity and strong mineral notes. The tannins are prominent, still smooth, but tell the young age. Superb long finish. This wine could be exellent in 10 years.

92(+?) Pts. This was my first, and not my last Chevillon. Wonderful red Burgundy, if a little expensive, but aren't they all. Very dark color for PN, nose was not super expressive, but had blackberry and raspberry extract with a hefty dose if pine sap. Ripe fruit flavors abound continued with the pine sap, braced by balanced tannins and soft acidity. Everything I love about NSG, real wine expressing the earth, nothing more, nothing less. I'm going to buy more, a real winner to drink over the next 5-10 years...Alex

The Greatest Pig Roast Ever?? (Chicagoland): Dense, sappy dark fruits, spice, and earth. The same elements on the palate as well. Medium plus body and finish. Lots of mineral and structure. As with the other Chevillon's tonight, a very good wine, but overshadowed.

Nose is bigger and earthier than the previous wines. A rustic black cherry. Get a touch of wood on the nose. Bigger, grippier tannins on the palate. Dark fruits. Has a rustic nature with some black licorice notes. Feels like it needs a little time to settle down.

Medium ruby. Black fruit and licorice aromas. Slightly denser and lower acid than the 2 other '06s tasted today with quite a nice texture that leads into a tannic finale. Not quite up to the level of the Vaucrains or Les St. Georges from this vintage.

Tastes like a slightly more concentrated version of Chevillon's '06 Les St. Georges, the fruit a little denser, the tannin a little more muscled. Like the LSG, it's not showing a hell of a lot of character though. The slightest old-school Burgundy horsey scent flits in and out for a glass or two, but mostly it's just pretty, restrained red pinot fruit, definitely not the grandest of vintages for Chevillon but nice stuff just the same.

This wine was opened and poured. It begins reserved and understated. Airing provided additional depth, complexity and integration. The aromatics show black cherry, spice and sappy earth notes. The color is a medium ruby. The medium bodied palate begins somewhat austere but begins to open up about an hour after opening. This showed well but lacks the completeness, balance and depth the 2005 Chevillon "Les Cailles" showed on release. This wine should benefit from a few years of bottle age.

2006 Chevillon Nuits St. Georges tasting (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Fresh, enticing nose with ripe red and blue fruit reduction, seductive spice box, bit of stemmy green peppercorn. Really gorgeously light on its feet, with perhaps the freshest palate of the lineup. The most elegant wine of the tasting, and the most sophisticated tannins as well. This is just lovely. But perhaps not $99 lovely.
