  • Last bottle. I didn't think it will last that long, but it seems like it's still at peak (or not too far from peak). Fully mature, generous fruit, quite soft and approachable. Drink up.
20-25 min decant recommended (for well-kept bottles; this one was professionally stored at the cellars of the Wine Society for 7 years).

  • Fresh and primary. Black Forest Gateau nose. Powerful entry with a hit of heat from the alcohol. First entry is primary and sweet. Spice, dried figs, licorice chew. This is rich, quite sweet, a bit fruit cakey. Very easy to like although it needs to be temp controlled.

  • Classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape, agreeing with the other notes, but although this is so much better than when drank even a year ago could do with a couple more years to be at its best. Still tight, sweet and sharp when these mellow and blend will be smooth rich and full of fruit.

  • quite restarined on the the nose - herbs, dates, figs
quite tannic, feels like it's just opening up
    big wine, lots of alcohol
    some nice herby notes
I tried it too warm and to be honest it didn't taste great, but cooler and with suitable food should be good.
    No hurry to drink

  • Trial balloon. Decanted. Sampled over the course of 3 hours. Marvellous intense bouquet in the first 30 minutes. Surprisingly approachable. Smooth and fruity; fig and cherry notes.
Underperforms at the second and third hours. Fading quickly?

On the second day, it welcomes us with a lovely cherry nose again. Ready to drink 10 minutes after serving on the second day.

An interim conclusion is that perhaps it is not really for the very long term and should be consumed before its 10th birthday. If drinking it now, I'd recommend only a short decant 15-20 min (BTW, some sediment is present but not excessive).
