Perfectly ready to drink. A bit of meaty funk in the nose, but not overwhelming. Uber-smooth on the palate, very long finish ends with a bit of dusty tannin. No reason to wait if you own it.

Aromas of dark cherries, boysenberry. Zesty and spicy palate, with sweet black fruit, tons of black pepper spice, and figs. Nice finish. More Paso Robles than Rhone though.

Lovely olive tapenade, floral character--white resinous flowers like magnolia or camellia. A great blast from the past--it hasn't changed that much over the years. A great Northern Rhône Syrah. Faury seems so amazingly consistent.

Boys nite, first of fall/winter 2010/2011 (Reno, NV): Have had this wine several times and think it is very much in the 'very good' camp in its level of quality... it is a very pure and good example of cool climate syrah though because of that will not be to everyone's liking, so serve cautiously.

Opaque purple. Nose of dark fruit, licorice, pepper, smoke, and underbrush. Medium to full palate of ripe blackberry, fig, pepper, leather, and vanilla. OK length. Pleasant acidity. Mild tannins. Very good quaffer. QPR only fair.

Dark cherry core, almost opaque. A little tight and reticent at first. A lot of dark fruits, blackberry and cassis with a whiff of raspberry and plum. A touch of coffee on the nose. On the palate it shows a little more red fruits, a touch of minerals on the finish. This is not bad but a little boring. Maybe in 3-4 years...

Smoky and with a lot of sweet fruit. An irritatingly intruding wine, at least for my taste. The kind of wine one rather quickly get tired with. Some tasters suggest that it will go well with barbecue. Eh, tasting this in the middle of a blizzard in wintry Sweden - this does not count as an alleviating factor. Way too expensive.

Moderate + depth of color, moderately extracted purple-red rim. On the nose very good intensity with still primary dark > red sweet and savory fruits, some minerality and no obvious new barrique influence. On the palate moderate acidity, very fleshy and broad midpalate that tapers nicely into a moderate amount of ripe and chalky tannin finish, low to moderate alcohol. Good balance between acid/tannins and fruit ripeness/alcohol, average length, good intensity and complexity. The wine has finesse, a fine texture, and just screams St Joseph for me with its slightly New World'ish aromatic fruit profile in an old world palate structure... minimal olive, minimal oak influence, low to moderately powered, chalky tannin finish. Drinks great now and will gain some complexity over the next few years.

Fresh earth and rocks on the nose. Dark fruits, blackcurrants violets, minerality and with time smoked meats. For me a perfect example of Syrah and for others too much funk.

rich-violet color, soil and flowers on the nose, soil and flowers on the palate, secondary flavors of brown sugar, some raspberry, soft, juicy, earthy finish, too rich for tomato sauce, not heavy enough for chicken-apple sausage, good on it's own, not sure what the perfect match is yet, but overall an excellent wine

Very nice St Joseph. Primary ripe blackberry fruit and some black olive in the nose with good depth and concentration. The wine has a nice balance of acids and ripe tannin structure. It is drinking well at the moment. Shame the price has crept up to the mid $30 range here in the US. The wine held up well after 24 hours of being opened with the acidity a little softer and the fruit showing less with more olive and mineral showing up on day 2. I think this will age nicely.

Deep purple. Wild, untamed, exuberant nose, redolent of meat, some VA, licorice, and camphor. My word, this just penetrates right to the olfactory lobes! Not as exciting in the mouth, with medium weight, similar flavors as suggested by the nose, and a good thwack of tannin. Overall dark impression; the fruit could stand to be a little sweeter, but as it stands, like a "mini-Cornas", although far more approachable than Cornas at this tender age.

new producer imported by Kermit Lynch I have not had before...initial night was solid in a successful new world style...maybe a simple Copain sytle in that it has bright fruit but still some secondary flavors and was not over the top in an extracted sense or alcohol. One negative note was last third of the bottle was solidly dead a couple nights later.

Still drinks beautifully! A real pleasure. Will not improve though, so drink any bottles that you might still have in your cellar this and next year.

Very roasted with an intense Syrah sun dried tomato flavor. Aged nicely the tannins are quite resolved but the color and flavors vivid and pleasing.

Roasted meats and spices, somebody might call it funk but I call it Syrah. Really lovely, balanced acid and resolved tannins.

As advertised....A must by if fairly priced ($20)....mid weighted, heavily savory, lightly extracted uniqueness. Previous notes sum it up.
