Wow, this is very spicey, heavy pepper notes like bell peppers and jalapeños, also leather and cherry mushrooms and moss. Drinking really well, still has decent fruit, nice acidity and resolved tannins.

highly structured. Nose had a distinctive jalopeno note which was surprising, but not unpleasant. Rich earth, lots of tannin (surprising for its age) and notes of mushroom and pencil lead.

Not quite as smooth as I expected it to be. Dark old fruits, grass, dust, dirt and smokiness. Some barnyard funk on the nose. Medium body with a short finish. Tannic. To quote VIVT (below), "not dead yet but at its end."

cheers - very enjoyable, although 2 strikes to begin with....first, a poor vintage (78-82); second, wine probably peaked 10 years ago. I don't see any records of this since 2012.....and I have another bottle (thanks dad). At this point, I decanted the wine only for sediment, of which there wasn't very much. Let it breathe for 15 minutes, then drink up. Nice start, weak finish. Happy Father's Day.

Quite a strong banyard character on the nose, with soy sauce, woody incense, mushroom & dried herbs follow at the back. Some relatively sweet black currants on the palate too, with some addition of alcohol's heat. Medium body, has a tight, gripping acidity and I thought this wine is abit unbalance as the acidity and alcohol overpowered the fruits & flavours - with a rather short finish.

Bouquet of chalk, dust, beach at low tide. Taste was very smooth with more fruit than expected. Wonderful long finish. Probably past its prime and missing much needed balance. Allow to breath an hour or two decanted.

Delicious. Give plenty of time to open up; this spent 1hr + in the decanter before blooming. Soft and gorgeous on the palate showing pleasant black fruit and dusty cocoa powder. At peak with practically zero tannin. Drink now and enjoy.

Very green wine with a chipotle like aroma. Big black cherry, cumin and graphite, but the wine is disjointed. Very drying tannins on the finish.
