Algemeen / potentieel: 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 10 + Smaak / Afdronk: 17 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 91/100
Colour: Ruby red with a thin edge. Aroma / bouquet: Pleasant, semi-closed (despite two hours of decanting in a wide carafe). A hint of dark fruit, especially dried fruit. Taste / Aftertaste: This Bond makes more of an impression on the palate. Limited acidity, mouth-filling and concentrated, powerful but beautifully matured, pleasant, somewhat droppy tannins. Also a limited aromatic expression in the mouth, but nevertheless a beautiful and sturdy power wine with an impressively long aftertaste. General / potential: 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 10 + Taste / Aftertaste: 17 + General / potential: 9 = 91/100

Similar in profile with the 2016, but simply more integrated, softer tannins, plummy, cassis, more floral/tertiary aromatics showing up, with stunningly beautiful mix of fruit, earth, and florals. Excellent, maybe WOTN among all of the Bonds. Spago tasting with Scott Gould

Birthday dinner at 1700 Steak with beef tenderloin. Excellent pairing. Bold and concentrated. Opaque, deep, deep violet in color. Still primary but fine, well integrated tannins. Black and blue fruits, graphite and crushed stone. Long pleasant finish that lasts 45-60 seconds.

Had this before an 86 Gruaud, for background. Still young, primary, the purity of fruit is compelling. Is Bond better than Harlan? It's price is ridiculous but if you can get to try, it's one worthy Napa experience. Remarkably well built.

Slow ox for 6 hours. Decanted for another hour. Noted that the cork on this was pure as the driven snow; bottom stained, but no saturation whatsoever. Would have guess this was a 10-month old wine from the cork instead of its actual 10 years.
Nose on this wine is a beauty. Black fruit, and a kiss of mint. Palate is voluptuous. Black fruit and graphite, and that mint still shows just a bit, and it does an amazing job completing the wine. This is super well integrated at this point. Finish is long and lingering.
This is in just about a perfect place for me. No doubt it can hang around for a while longer, but very happy to have popped now. Excellent stuff.

With dinner at Saison in San Francisco. What an epic wine. Decanted about 45 minutes before we got to it. Absolute smashmouth nose of black fruit, pencil lead, crushed granite. Good weight on the palate, and massive, lingering finish. Very pleased that we chose this route instead of the pairings. This is in a good place right now if you want to dive in.

Great bottle of wine. Hints of vanilla, cassis, and even some spice present with this wine. Truly a beautiful wine that is graceful yet powerful. Tannins are certainly present even holding a whiff of alcohol at first smell initially. This is not a typical trait of BOND wines. Everyone agreed this wine was a great complement to red meat. Great experience.

This is from the Oakville property and hence the red soil. Very well rounded with cassis and dark chocolate. Nice fine tannins that still coat the palate and could use another few years to round out. Great finish as well. I would hold onto this for another 5yrs before opening again.

Winorama with a surprise (engagement)!; 9/15/2013-9/18/2013 (Napa Valley California): Tasted at the Founder's Room. This was two of the four folks tasting's favorite, and certainly a beautiful wine. This wine was just smooth (esp after the Quella). Some cherries and the tannins were very strong, but somehow winemaker managed to make it feel a bit softer in the glass. Some smokiness and there were hints that with more time there were deeper flavors to come. Got a magnum (apparently other folks favorites as well since they were sold out of 750s) - looking forward to popping again in many years.

Tasted at Cut from magnum. Strawberry. Light zesty pepper, red vegetables and cassis. But lighter styling overall. Feminine and really enjoyable. Limited notes.

CT Texas IV - A Hill Country Treat; 5/18/2012-5/19/2012 (Austin, Texas): After the older Cabs, this was a full out assault on the palate. Painfully young with nose of black currant, plums, black cherry, and whallop of spicy oak. On the palate, black currant, blackberry, plum, mocha, spice. Long tannic finish that walls off the wine. This has a very bright future. I would like to see it again in 10 years.

Wines of Napa and Sonoma (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had cherry and forest floor, plum and spice, mocha and raspberry, and some oak at the end. The palate was soft, with cherry and chocolate, raspberry and plum, spice and some oak.

Saturdays at One - Volume 37: Tasted non blind. Opened and decanted two hours before double decanting for transport to the tasting and then opened in bottle for two more hours. Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of thatch, vanilla, white pepper, currants and black cherries. Flavors of currants, plums, black cherries and black berries. Medium acidity, firm tannins, full bodied. Drink now with an extended decant or continue to hold. 93+.

11-acre rocky knoll just north of Oakville Crossroad, (Vine Hill Ranch), no raisining or burning of grapes due to exposure and VHR state-of-the-art canopy management. Nice nose with a little green olive character. 100% cabernet.

50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 13 + Smaak / Afdronk: 18 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 94/100

Big bold chewy Cali red. Decanted for 2 hours. Silky tannins. Great on its own and paired well with equally bold French cuisine. A+

Decanted three hours, blind tasting against vineyard 29 estate and Tusk, unfortunately Bond finished third by a nose.
The wine, red cherry, vanilla, and earthy notes giving the wine a strong finish with a hint of acidity. Very balanced structure with firm tannins.
