A fairly mature garnet/brown colour; the fruit is cherry and redcurrant, but as the wine is now quite mature it has taken on a more vegetal character. The palate is quite firm, and it has reasonable length. Will keep for a while yet, but I don’t see it improving.

1st of 6, pnp, perfect cork and level - darkish, mat ruby, little development; black cherry and plum, hint of spice and game, meat; med/full, ok length and persistence, nice balance, not particularly concentrated, more heft than expected, nearly there but upside yet, 10+ years. Just F+ (18).....half decanted and drunk on second night showed a little more nuance.....I've always found Geantet's Charmes reliable and continues to improve much longer than initially expected!

the nose is dominated by a fresh crushed red berries tone, very young and enjoyable. The message is however quite simplistic, lack of complexity. the palate is ok, good balance and freshness, but nothing exciting. overall, a good wine (and thus the 90) but in my view, considering the terroir, it comes short. second day was similar

Quite a deep colour; rich, full, savoury and long on the palate, with quite dense strawberry/raspberry fruit and secondary notes. A true grand cru. Excellent on this occasion.

Drunk in two parts, three days apart, and stored under vacuum between those days.
Day 1: a fairly deep colour; a mixture of dark fruits, a hint of menthol and some savoury notes. Quite concentrated. Approachable, but should keep well. Perhaps 91/100.
Day 2: This has developed noticeably since the previous occasion and now has concentrated, spicy, savoury, meaty flavours. Good length. Excellent wine and an extra mark.

This is intense, dark-fruited and succulent, with mature, gamey notes and good length. A fine Burgundy, now at its peak.

This is now a very attractive Burgundy, full, rich, with elegant fruit and savoury notes, and good length. One of the better 2006s.

Medium red colour; fresh raspberry and redcurrant fruit; approaching mid-maturity, with soft, elegant fruit, medium to full weight and good length.

Good fruit. Not too much impacted by the hot vintage. In absolute terms, lacks some graciousness. But then this is gevrey ... not chambolle.

Delicious round red cherry core with black fruits, leather and forest floor supporting. Power and balance. Delicious.
