Opaque crimson color. Fruity nose of ripe mulberries, oily leather, ripe tomatoes, and garrigue. The smooth palate has a slight sweetness on the middle of the tongue, but otherwise remains anchored in Rhône terroir through the finish, which remains supported by residually grainy tannins. Nice enough, especially for the price (I paid $25), but this is starting to taste a bit tired and probably should have been consumed 3-5 years ago.

This is the "Les Hauts de Montmirail" bottling. Brickish red in color. A sauvage and backward nose of smoked meat, white pepper, underbrush, black plums and leather greet the nose. The medium bodied palate follows through with hints of bitter and tart black plum skin, savory meat juices, old shoe leather, earth and good acidity framing the wine.

Just found a few of these in my cellar, and what a pleasant surprise. Very nice plum, garrigue and earth flavors, smooth and well balanced. Nicely aged gigondas.

A lovely balance, refreshing lack of overwhelming heat, sugar and alcohol. Soft tannins, garrigue and leather. Feels even and honest. Drinking this just now with Jane alongside these amazing lamb loin chops with thyme and a purée of potatoes and turnips; this is a fantastic little Gigondas. Balance, poise; I'm so very proud it panned out the way it was meant to. It's not often I see Gigondas this old; very pleased to see where it goes with a producer that seems to have things under control.

Wonderful aged Gigondas. Nice dark fruits with tastes of black cherry and plums. One guest described it as very smooth. Well integrated tannins. Throwing a lot of sediment. Probably on the downside of its drinking window but still a delicious wine.

This wine was tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. The bottle was kindly provided by Ed Porth. The robe is opaque red/garnet and the nose shows moderately intense earthy and black pepper aromas, backed up by an ample core of blackberry fruit. Medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, with low-to-medium acidity and light sweet tannins. The flavors are black fruit and pepper-dominated. The middle palate is solid and leads to a medium-to-long, smooth finish. This wine has developed nicely and should drink well over the next 3-4 years. Drink now-12/14.

Nose was full of leather and dried cherries. The mouthfeel was silky smooth with clean sweet fruit of black cherry mixed with forest floor. Finish was long and finely tannic. Great aged Gigondas. Drinking very well right now! UPDATE: Didn't perform as well on day 2 and day 3, so drink fast! ;)

Brick/purple in colour, with a nice, if light nose of cherries, leather and garrigue. Smooth on the medium palate, with scratchy tannins (and acidity) at the end. More cherry, plum, leather, garrigue as well as gamy notes. Time has made this somewhat elegant, but yet it still has the normal rustic character of any self-respecting Gigondas, though I'd drink up in the next year or so (A-).

Wonderful Gigondas - one of the best I've had. Nose - plums, vanilla, heather and some chemical. Palate - complex (changes over time) a lot heather, fresh fruit (the nose was more stewed). Big mouthfeel, integrated wine and smooooth. Long finish. Either this has become more complex or this is a better bottle than the last bottle I had. I suspect the latter

Nose has some sulfur stink that wants decanting away. This wine is no longer youthful, but has some life yet. Day 2 showed dark toned, dark berry fruit, lingering secondary flavors (sorry to be so non-specific but that's what I wrote down...). Quite nice, probably on the downhill slope though.

The nose is dominated by sour cherry with a touch of garrigue. On the palate this has nice weight, good expansive dark fruit flavor, but is a bit tart. Tannins are fully resolved. I was expecting a bit more from this. Based on this one bottle I'd guess this was better a few years ago.

Not as good as I hoped and WS rating suggested. A bit shallow without a large finish. Decanted and let this wine sit for 90 minutes before we drank it, opened a second bottle and drank it immediately. The 90 minutes had not made a difference.

This wine is very thin...tart cherry and rasberry dominate the palate. The nose has some bret...not overtly, but it is definitely there. After reading Parkers rating from 2003, I think that we are tasting two different wines...

The first of these bottles I have not hated. Nose gives a little crushed berries, not much else. There is a hint of bret in this but not like my previous bottles and this has clarified versus some other bottles. Along with that horsey bret flavor, there is some moderate acidity, garrigue and drying tannins. Certainly never approached the Speculator's ravings, what disappointing crap. I guess I am less forgiving of flaws (wake up, bret is a flaw) than others who have rated this junk.
Horrible QPR all in all.

Dark purple to the eye. Last bottle of a case purchased in 2002. Sage, cherries, oak, and other herbs on the nose. A bit of Provence perhaps. Nice palate of red fruits some light tanins but not out of balance at all with the fruit. A very nice wine.

This is drinking great now but could easily last for a few more years. Lots of fruit, chalky tannins, and a small amount of Brett (enough to add character, not enough to distract). This $20 wine could easily pass for a $40 CdP.

After bottle one was flawed, I opened another. This one did not have the cloudy appearance nor was it corked. It was still mediocre south of France crap. Stinky funk that took 24 hours to disappear. It had some bret so gets the standard bret point deduction. There was almost nothing there and I will drink the remaining and count my blessings if I can pawn it off on an unsuspecting guest (and non-wine lover) who does not know any better. Domaine Brusset joins my list of wineries I will likely NEVER buy from again.

Delicious. Still young. Nose is dominated by spice, game, herbs (garrigue?). A bit of heat there too. On the palate, black cherry, almost liqueurish, with black pepper and some pencil lead. Subdued but adequate acid, dusty tannins.

This is drinking wonderfully. A bright ruby color. Aromas of black cherry and rich soil, not explosive but not hiding either. The flavors are classic Rhone, with some earthy and pepper flavors, but with plenty of pure red fruit out in front. Not a long finish, but it is balanced and easy to drink. Paired wonderfully with duck confit and a selection of cheeses.

My first bottle of 6. Nose is a bit subdued I did get a bit of tar, but I think it is just coming out of it's shell. Lovely really sweet creamy black fruit caress the palete and washes down into a slightly tannic medium length finish. Was great with my bbq burgers, and promisses to get better with time. This is a very together wine, that has some hints of acidity and angularity that keep the marks down. Try and wait a year, to see some improvement.
