Mature nose with lilacs, plum, oak spice, coffee and garrigue. Rounded taste, slightly thick and nicely spicy. Still okay (if oaky) to drink, but this obviously active-wine-making effort was at its best when the fruit was young and huge.

2-3 hours in the carafe before serving. Nose is wide open, lots of impressions here: freshly cut roses, strawberry preserve, ripe plums, toasted bread, espresso, tar, charcoal, grilled meat, mint, and resin. On the palate big and dense without being over the top - gutsy tannins, ripe fruit, fresh acidity, and no heat whatsoever (14%). Before dinner its a pleasure to drink, but we have some issues about the interplay with our grilled lambchops: too much coffee and fatty oak, especially in comparison with a traditional sudiste like Ch Pradeaux. And with even more air, the coffee takes over completely. Final impression: Languedoc goes Napa Valley. But still - the first glass was smashing! Better finish the last bottle sooner than later, while the fruit still stands up to the oak.

Dark fruit flavours dominates with additional notes of burnt sugar, chinese soy and slightly old coffee. The oak is still evident but is starting to sink in. All and all, quite intriguing but doesnt live up to my expectations since my first taste in early 2009 was spectacular. Its just to heavy and manufactured and lacks freshness to merit higher rating.

Nose of coffee and ripe fruit. Taste coffee, plums, blackberry, oak. Almost too mature. Drink now!

Last bottle, an outstanding wine of course, but no way near as good as it was a couple of years ago.

Incredibly good. I fully understand the comparison with the 2005 SQN Atlantis Syrah.
