Drank in Mar 2024. Drinking well, not sure it will improve with further aging but will evolve on - still some fruit to lose and some tertiary notes to develop.

Opened, decanted and poured immediately, so left in the glass for 10 minutes to open up.
This is fresh and full of good blackcurrant fruit and forest floor. Very smooth and silky, well balanced and good structure. Starting to develop some typical Bordeaux earthiness. Excellent.
First tasted in 2018, I said then that this would easily keep 5 to 6 years and it's as good now as it's ever been. I'd say drink up, but probably still 2 or 3 years good life in it.

Always very nice. Cool, reflects the vintage, but not green or austere. This bottle was particularly well fruited (my husband said it was like cherryade, but I think that's going too far).

Dark centre, red rim, little sediment. Drinking beautifully three hours after opening. Grass and vanilla on the nose, smooth with tannin as you swallow, but the lingering impression is berry fruit. Balanced, elegant, classic. Lean.

1 of 2. Vg cork, decanted 1/2 hr. Deep ruby/garnet core, narrow pale rim. Mainly black-fruited nose, blackcurarnt, cedar, graphite, smoky mineral. Medium/full bodied, blackcurrant fruit, some red fruit notes too, cedar, touch of smoke, fresh/vibrant acids, some chalky tannin on teh medium/good length finish. Good, honest claret, drinking well should be fine for another 5-10 years.

Last bottle of two cases bought en primeur. Looking back in my last note (2018) I feel I was a bit harsh on a wine I would now describe as delicious from a vastly underrated vintage. This has thickened out and displays wonderful blackcurrant fruits and forestry undergrowth. I can’t believe how wonderfully this has developed and seems to still have a way to go but certainly is in a great place right now. Rather sorry I’ve run out of the stuff!

First of 12 and I'm glad I waited. This is in a great place now, still very fresh, decent blackberry and redcurrant fruit, a hint of cedary and spice. From an often under-rated vintage, that was priced very competitively on release. Drink over next 5 years or so?

Clear red colour. Slightly perfumed nose of lavender and black fruit but quite tight. Nice rounded mouthfeel - black fruits, cedar and a touch of lavender. Medium body - a classic claret. Bright and drinking nicely.

Very happy with where this is at the moment. It gives a sense of presence in the mouth and balances the fruit and savoury elements. The acidity and tannins work to give shape and allow the fruit and secondary flavours to show through. No sense of the 13.5% alc. Goes well with food and beyond.

Really attractive. On opening a bit cedary but rewards a couple of hours in a decanter. Firm and austere in structure - wet coal and ash - but plenty of dark cherry and plum fruit, and supple resolved tannins. A rocky river water streak emerges towards the finish. A traditional firm claret at an excellent point in its evolution, but with easily 5 years ahead or even longer.

Dark ruby. This has a spicy, black fruited nose. Dust, light wood notes, something like a cherry Tunes vibe going on. In the mouth the dark ripe fruit suggests blackcurrant and damson. Something a bit green leafy to keep it fresh. Tannins are medium + and acidity is medium. Finish is medium and refreshing. This presents a stately but well balanced mouthful. I’d say it’s ready now, I wouldn’t like the fruit to leave the party. A good solid claret with no airs or pretensions.

Last tasted in 2014, this wine has evolved very nicely. The 2008's are drinking much better now then a few years back. In my opinion this vintage requires more aging then any other recent Bordeaux vintages. My previous tasting of this wine was unbalanced with a very short finish. Today it is completely the opposite, Nicely balanced, medium finish and good fruit presence.

This is good, especially at the price it went for on release. Nose is not hugely expressive, some reluctant damp leaf and green pepper character, wet earth. On the palate it’s denser than expected, with black fruit and liquorice, wet rocks. Classic claret if not necessarily classic Margaux.

Black centre, bright red rim, LTD sediment. Fresh and fruity, lovely mineral bite to the body. Hugh Johnson is right, at its peak. Tannic finish, but lingering flavour is black currant fruit and oak. Super.

This is the first bottle of the case, having just been received from The Wine Society's reserves. Opened and decanted for 1 hour. Drinking perfectly and I'm confident that this is only at the start of what is probably a 5 or 6 year drinking period. Medium plummy colour. Rich hedgerow fruits on the nose and palate, blackcurrants, plums, good levels of earthiness and fairly complex. A treat for Bordeaux lovers.
Pleasant enough. Restrained nose but hint of stewed fruit. Tannins fully integrated with pleasant fruit. This is fine without being special. Not sure it’ll improve much from here but it’s quite decent.
Not a great Angludet. Little on the nose and a rather raw, lean palate. Where Angludet over-performed in 2002 this seems weaker in what should be a better vintage.

It's medium- on the nose but aging well and moving into stewed fruit zone but lots of life left in this wine. Still very dark in glass. Remains balanced on palate and medium finish. Enjoyed with filet mignon.

Dark ruby red, translucent, red rim with paler edge. Drank it over two nights. Not much nose. Lovely smooth mouthful, fruit dominates but plenty of tannin balances the finish. A pleasant sharpness, grass and stone, lingers. Copes well with chicken lovers. Lovely now, but not sure how it will develop.

Quite enjoyable, but very much subdued. Much of what you would expect from a typical Margaux is there, but in a 'light' version (like putting a silencer on a gun) I agree with some of the comments below: it is difficult to discern much beyond the alcohol, which shines through much stronger here than in any other Angludet vintage I tasted. Not sure this is going to improve significantly - will drink up soon. Got a case at 33% below 'market value'. Fair value at this price but not more.
The first of my 08s. Decanted for an hour. Very dark right to the rim. Do aromas burst from the glass? No. Is the palate thrilled by pulses of fruit flavour? No. Do the senses reel from the wine's sheer force and complexity? Not at all. But what a pleasure there is in the restraint and classicism of this cool young Margaux. An encouraging start with this vintage.

First two bottles of a case (this note covers both). Indeed first 2008 Bordeaux of any sort I have tried. Decanted about 2 hours. Full, youthful colour; quite dark/opaque. Not giving much on the nose. Closed? Eventually some dark (very dark) fruit - blueberries and black cherries - when worked. Also quite a deep menthol element. Unusual, but not unappealing. On the palate however I find this wine very hard to fathom. It almost seems to be falling apart already. Initially cool and correct on entry; but then difficult to discern anything other than alcohol. Very little obvious fruit (or indeed other flavours of any sort); some tannin but largely already resolved/gone; which in turn means no length. It's almost like if you swallow it you'll miss the palate entirely. Very odd, and hopefully an aberration. Not looking forward to the rest if they're all like this. PS - the remainder of the second bottle consumed after a couple of days in the fridge - slightly more approachable on the nose, but still that hollowness through the palate. Not sure where this is going (or has it anywhere left to go?). A note of caution here.
13.5% - Clear, deep garnet / clean, med intensity - creme de cassis, blueberry and some red berries, cedar, new leather, vanilla and smoke / dry, med+ acidity, med body, med to high coarse tannin, med intensity. Good backbone, lacks some middle weight but remains elegant in a restrained way. Much better than the bottle I tried in 2011, it's going in the right direction.

Compared to two years ago this is coming into better balance. The colour does not seem to have evolved much in this time--now appearing comparatively dark. Still a herbal-ness to the nose which is rather muted. Sleek and potentially integrated on the palate with another 5 years. I'm reminded of a slightly sturdier 2002 or perhaps the 1988 consumed at 25 years of age. No fire works but a well made claret.

First half bottle from case. Even from half bottle this is too young to give pleasure. All the elements seem to be there and it's quite powerful, but they have not come together yet. Wait 2-3 years before the next bottle.

Wine tasting in aug 2012. Very strong, most appreciated it, some felt best wine but better suited for food. Probably needs a couple more years to mellow the tannins a bit. Deep dark purple, earthy, fruity. Decant for at least an hour.

This is going to get better but all the foundations are there. Plenty of aromas to draw you in, pencil lead, black fruits and some wood. The palate is green twigs, brambles, blackberries & tannin galore! Lovely and hopefully with lots to come.

Not especially deep-coloured. Fruit rather light and predominantly herbal/tea-leaffy. Some oak. Rather lean palate with a harshness from both tannin and high acidity. Not much change over 3 nights. This is young, and I have the rest of a case to follow the evolution of this wine, but I'm a bit worried about the balance and wonder if the fruit will give out before any complexity arrives. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong...

Medium bodied with red and black fruits, earth and herbs along with a touch of green in finish; the wine is in some ways similar to a classic Bordeaux from the 70’s with its style of tannins.

Rubis sombre. Bien+

Much richer and open than the previous bottle. This is getting better.

similar to my previous note - a pleasant wine without being outstanding in any way

Nice and decent claret but lacking something in the palate.

good if a little ordinary, nice balance but short on the finish, there is certainly better Claret out there at the same price level

Nice fruit and well balanced, just a little thin with a short finish.

No formal note - decanted 1 hour. This shows nice potential but is way too young and it needs to be laid down for a couple of years.

Rubis sombre. Bien+
