This is a delicious 100% zin. Lots of sediment. Has aged quite well. Ripe smooth purple fruit, very long finish. Probably was a bargain 17 years ago...

An odd vintage for this wine. It really comes off as if they really tried to push it a little bit in a more modern sense. Initially when popped it smelled like a dense Central Coast Syrah though the palate was more reserved. Fifteen minutes of air allowed those Zinberry qualities emerge yet this is still a lot darker in character than a lot of Zins. The fruit is still fresh for its age. The density really lingers and becomes more noticeable as there is less acidity than it really needs to be balanced. Consistent over two nights. Half a glass left to night four shows a lot of new wood. The fruit isn't oxidized as much as faded. Mixed bag here. Not really what I want from Jimsomare though this wine is intriguely dense and young.

Purchased at the Sonoma winery in 2009. At some point I forgot about it in a dark corner of the cellar, and was a bit nervous about opening a 15-year old zin. But it was pretty good! Still some lively fruit, very smooth, zin spices, and no over-the-hill type flavors. Drink up.

Very dry. Amazingly young vibrant fruit, light on it's feet. More berry than dark, but in a good way. Different and interesting. Conversational finish. Bought some '16 after finishing this bottle.

The volatile acidity present in prior bottles has integrated nicely. Still a bit in the nez, along with deep black fruit. It’s got a nice mouthful of black and blue berries but dries up a bit on finish. The tannins caress, the flavors linger in a considerable lengthy finish. Can’t get better, darn great now. Drink.

Served with stuffed pork chops and mashed cauliflower. Dark crimson, no longer opaque, sediment on side of bottle. Nose: cherry, touch of blueberry. Nice fruit. Palate: fruit is dominant, cherry is primary, acid is in balance, tannin muted. Drinking very nicely right now. Raspberry and pepper is on the finish.

A little Jammy- but this is a Zin. So well balance and really was the right amount of jammy fruit (not cloying) you want in a Zin. Highly recommend this Zin and wished I had more. This is want Ridge Zin are and should be. Just coming into its sweet spot and has a ton of life ahead- this is a 15-20 yr Zin.

Still alive and kicking. Nice secondary notes coming out. A little tobacco with dark fruit on the nose. Tart cherry with smooth tannins. Still drinking nice, but wouldn't wait too much longer.

Very dark and intense fruit, but sufficient structure against it. After opening the mid-palate had a bit of lactic/milky quality; it was pretty subtle, however.

The wine looks Garnet colored. The legs are Medium. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Leathery texture. The wine finishes Medium. A bit acidic and I would wait another year or two to calm down. With that, after a couple of hours it opened up nicely and very enjoyable.

As with the last bottle earlier this month, this bottling, or at least mine, have been off. The main issue is a huge waft of volatile acidity that only moderates slightly over night. When opened, I thought my wife had brought nail polish remover in the room, that's how bad the keytone notes were in the wine. Hard to get much more out of the wine. I believe this was flawed at the winery and should have been pulled by Ridge.

Direct from cellar - was a bit cool and didn't have time to open. Looks put this as a very young wine, deep garnet all the way to the rim. Good nose, good balance.

- Purple color with medium forming legs and aromas of strawberry jam, raisin and black currant. It's balanced and has flavours of black pepper with a full body. Juicy texture with a medium finish.

The tropical banana peel taste on the finish was really off putting. A massive fruit bomb with that offers the drinker no finesse or complexity. I dumped out my glass.

My friends and I are becoming Ridge fans. Surprisingly approachable already, great fruit and nice palate. Granted, not cheap, but I'm glad I have more.

Whoa...!! Explosive and vibrant, this 100% zin drank so well last night, I was tempted to open a second bottle just to savor after the meal. Upon opening, there were strong notes of milk chocolate and a rich faceful of bright, black fruit, all tempered with a pleasant earthy toastiness. We let it rest for a while (on the order of 30 minutes or so) before tasting, and, after that the nose had settled somewhat, the chocolate faded into deeper fruit tones, and first taste revealed a young, juicy, and full palate with bright acidity and solid tannins still standing out nicely, though not so far above anything else that other flavors were overshadowed. Fantastic balance here.
The pairing with the evening's meal--a hoisin garlic marinated grilled flank steak, pan-roasted vegetables with parmigiano reggiano, and mashed potatoes--was meal-stoppingly good with every bite of meat and wine.
I'm calling this one a 92 pointer right now with potential to grow into an epic 94 or 95 in a few years' time. This is a sentiment that was borne out by the tasting room personnel: "Yes, it's drinking incredibly well despite its youth, but trust me... you'll be AMPLY rewarded for aging this wine."
Hear hear.

A bit alcoholic in the nose and at the start. Big jammy explosion in the middle followed by a somewhat tannic and acidic finish that may mellow with age. Lots of structure and grip. Should age well.
