This wine was great with our prime filets on New Years Eve. It is in a perfect place No need to decant. Hold or drink, leaning more towards drink, although it is quite clearly constructed for aging. One note: the cork virtually disintegrated. The wine was unharmed. I have to admit I'm a bit concerned about the other five bottles we have in our cellar. I will just be careful when I open them.

Similar to prior note after a 2 hour double decant; outstanding, but still a little young, drink or preferably hold for another year or 2 (common thought for me on the 07s)

1 hour decant, very elegant mouthfeel: a bouquet of blueberry, black cherry, anise, medium bodied, soft minerality, light tannins present at finish. Wish I had a few more at the release price as this appears to easily have more life ahead.

Wines like this remind me of why love California cabernet blends. Dark fruit and spice on the nose. A nice plush mouth-feel with fine, well integrated tannins. Blueberry, blackberry and a hint of cassis combined with some vanilla and spice. Still in primary phase although getting close to secondary cabernet characteristics. Enough acidity to prolong life. Great wine now and for 10 plus years. Don’t expect it to get considerably better but will drink well for 10’yewrs or more. I wish I had more to try later.

This has come a long way since my last bottle. It’s in a great place after an hour in the decanter. A plush, full mouthful of sweet blue and black fruit, with a dollop of vanilla, and dusty sweet tannins. More right bank merlot-like than Cab Sauv, and I mean that as a compliment. Delicious and a hit with my lunch guests. I’d love to find more...

Visual: deep ruby color, completely opaque right to the edge, slightest hint of garnet (red/brick) at the rim. Indicates it's holding up well at 11 years old. Nose: rich, fully ripe dark berry fruits (black berry, etc.). Soft secondary notes (e.g. oak/vanilla) and a few tertiary notes (ageing) starting to present. Taste: the fruit comes through loud & clear. Rich and ripe, not cloying. There's enough acidity to keep it balanced (a bit more might be nice). Tannins are soft. Oak is balanced. Long pleasant finish. Overall a V good/Excellent wine (though I'd want a bit more finesse at this price point).

Lots of ripe fruit, but not much else. The high alcohol content, combined with the real lack of acidity fatigues the palate. Lots of power here, but not much in the way of elegance or nuance...went well enough with braised short ribs, but really not very interesting.

Lots of great wines with friends; 12/19/2015-12/20/2015 (E, 4th St.): Great wine. Purple/ruby in color. Great nose with cassis, dark cherries, slight leather, cedar and a bit of floral notes. On the palate, this is big. Slightly juicy. Cassis and cherries with some vanilla notes. Plenty of firm tannins. This still needs some time IMO to unwind, but it is showing some complexity in the glass. Long finish.

Reticent nose initially. Seems that this might be a bit shutdown. Left it in the decanter for 2 1/2 hours. Fruit started to emerge at 3 hours, which is encouraging. Dark cherries, vanilla. 30 second finish. I think this will improve with a few more years or at least I hope so, since I have 7 bottles left.

Absolutely died for this wine at the winery in late 2011(although admittedly we were on our 4th winery stop of the day). It's still huge and complex,, and clearly well-made but has started to shed some of the fruit and has a touch more alcohol poking out than I remember. I would drink up within the next few years. At 15.1% ABV I don't see this having the balance to last another 5+ years.

This wine is appropriately aged with many secondary flavors of tobacco, sage, and oak overlying some dense dark fruit. Palate is medium weighted with moderate finish with some slight rustic tannins. If you like fruit forward....too late. I probably wouldn't let this go another 2-3 years.

I am not a fan. This bottle was properly stored in my cellar for four and a half years. We opened it last night for Jodi's birthday dinner, decanted through a vinturi and let sit for an hour or so. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate was blueberry and mocha, the finish was of medium length and tannic. Perhaps I did not let it open enough as the last glass was the best. The wine is good but definitely not great and at this price point I expected a lot more.

Friday Night Double Blind Mondo $100+ (Bin 75): Black core with tiny garnet rim; sweet nutty oak, pain grille, deep plush black currant, slight green pepper, some dark chocolate, nice perfume, New World but good restraint; chocolate, great structure, ripe but balanced, dark fruit, tobacco; fruit profile is a little dark for me but this was very high quality.

Another wonderful experience, a year after having had the first bottle of this amazing wine. Smooth from the open, and even better through a 3 hour long dinner, decanted due to sediment. Boy... the long long finish and heavy mouthfeel make this wine a chewy meal in itself. Benchmark blend Cab wine, lovely and highly recommended.

We had this wine over the Labor Day Weekend with Steak. What a powerhouse. Complex and very good. I think it could use some more time in the bottle as it didn't have the smoothness that I'm sure it will grow into. Still very good.

A considerable improvement over the last bottle. It's still a big, ripe mouthful, but there's better balance now. The nose shows some alcohol heat. Palate: Intense, ripe Blackcurrant & raspberry, wood spice, a little olive, some oak and cocoa powder. Much better acidity than the last bottle. Long, lingering tangy Blackcurrant finish. This still needs time, but I'm optimistic that it'll be fantastic in, say, 10-15 years.

This was the second wine of the night after 2011 Caymus special select. Both very nice wines but different. Cadmus had a distinct chocolate nose while poetry was far more subtle. Great fruit forward and finish on both great wines. Special wines for saying goodbye to a great 2013 while dining at our favorite restaurant, Ken Stewarts in Akron, Ohio. One of the finest!

Decanted for 2+ hours. Big and smooth. Black fruit and chocolate. Medium-low acidity. Nicely integrated tannins. It's a large mouthful and with the fairly low acidity, it can get tiring after awhile. But it's well build, and I'll be curious to see where it lands in half a dozen years. Personally, I'd like to see the oaky chocolate calm down, and a bit more acidity to help sharpen the palate.

Pnp. Beautiful rich chocolate aromas upon opening. Rich fruit and dark chocolate flavors on the palate. Became a little thin and acidic over the first hour. The second hour really started to flesh out. Continued to improve the rest of the night. Good acidity and structure throughout. Tannins are still kicking but it all balances out after a couple of hours. I probably wouldn't drink this for a couple more years if I could wait, but I'm just not that patient today and I have several more bottles in the cellar waiting.

Drank with friends for dinner. About the same as last bottle. Typical Napa Cabernet flavors, in a good way. Beautiful color, expressive palate after an hour in ther glass. This is still very young and needs a few years to really show it's stuff.

Took with to David Burke Primehouse in Chicago. Not Decanted. Tight and tannic. Still showing great cab flavors, but this bottle was not as evolved as the last. Slowly improved overy two hours. However, the wine did outshine the food. Over cooked dry aged steak and just generally unimpressed.

Still a little young for me... the initial nose, texture and fruit flavors were very promising, dark vilumptuous fruit. It opened up enough after 30 minutes, but still tight. Another year or two iin the bottle will be time enough to properly blossom, and my score will likely be consistent with fellow poetry lovers.

Visiting Napa (Sept 9th-11th); 9/9/2011-9/11/2011 (Napa, CA): Continuing to evolve in complexity. This started with slightly more of a red fruit note than before and began to turn to the Blackberry, Cassis and sweet oak notes that dominated the wine a eyar ago. Still a fantastic wine that will continue to develop.

Tased at winery tasting room. Bottle had been opened several hours, but not decanted. Rich, velvety, full fruit - but very balanced. Suprisingly soft tannins for big 2007... Outstanding in all ways. Recommended to club member... and we then purchased in Fall 2011.

Pretty and rather open, especially next to the '07 SLD (which is loads of structure and lacks the mid palate). Loads of structural intellect with the flesh lacking on the SLD.

Dark purple ruby hues with a thick, rich, creamy texture that glides effortlessly into the palate and onto the horizon. Rich, ethereal flavors of black cherries, currants, dark chocolate, mocha, cardamom spice ending with rich, chewy tannins at the moment. Just as dense as the Caymus Special Selection '04, and in spite of the 15.1% alcohol content, this one seems a bit understated at the onset, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but just makes it unique. As the wine remains in the glass, it opens up more beautiful flavors of tobacco and cedar just before the alcohol kicks in. This is so good, it's ecstatic! 96 Pts. Drink from 2012 to 2025.

Ruby and purple hue, deeply colored, dark and vibrant. Gamey and earthy nose with an herbal overtone, spice, light smoke, cedar, graphite, tobacco and coffee, revealing aromas of black cherry, blackberry, blue berry and a floral note. Full bodied and complex, it shows a lot of blackberry, dark cherry and currant fruit on the attack, very expressive but well-contained, supported by a firm structure of big, yet ultrafine, tannin along with fresh acidity. A tannic/velvety finish with good length, needs a lot of time to unlock the plum and cherry fruit and cedar, graphite, dark chocolate components. Excellent presentation from a small producer! Lay it down for at least 2 years, and enjoy it over the next 20.

i don't normally write about napa wines all that much- and in this case a friend of mine has recently taken over the role of vineyard manager/consultant for this winery, but i have to say this wine rocks! beautiful balance right down the line- fresh red and black fruit, supple full bodied texture, oak but not heavy handed after decanting, sweet tannins and an ultra long finish that makes this easy to drink but potential to last 15 to 20 years. give it an hour or so in the decanter if you want to drink it now (if you have a few it's worth trying one soon-)... this under the radar stag's leap appellation wine is getting better and better. i had not tasted this from the bottle only from barrel over 2 years ago- this will get better and better...

WS Grand Tour Boston (Copley Marriott): Nose:black cherry, bell pepper, grape candies (in a good sense) and a creme de cassis note. Hints of pepper and red berry as well. Palate: very dak fruit, but delivers with elegance. Wine has evolved nicely since last tasted. Finish: tannins bite down quite hard at the moment. Plum, black cherry and oak are accented with dark chocolate notes.

2007 Poetry Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon- The 2007 is ripe, fresh, and intense. Loads of dark chocolate and Ulster cherry plus a beam of minerality lifts the fruit and maintains vibrancy. Round and silky tannins persist well into the finish. Do you like the energy of young wine, or prefer the secondary components that come with bottle age? This wine will satisfy now and in the future. Dark red color with rich aromas of dark fruit and oak immediately upom opening. Decanted through vinturi. Full bodied but not overly tannic or jammy for a young cab. Smooth texture with flavors of plum, blackberry, eucalyptus and mint. Drinking well now, with good potential.

Nose: Dark fruits including Black Cherry, Blackberry and Plum are very prominent with new oak, chocolate, and violets showing as well. Perfumed quality to the nose that shows sweet tanin and just a hint of alcohol. Palate: Very nice weight after vinturi. This is so silky it is incredible. Dark Cherry, Plum and some raspberry notes show with hints of bakers chocolate, eucalyptus, graphite are in the background. Great midpalate. Finish: Over 45 seconds in the mouth finishing with a complex array of flavors. Leaves a velvety smooth coating on the palate with round tanins that do not overpower.
Tasted at the Cliff Lede Winery over the weekend. This was a spectacular cabernet just after opening, and i can imagine it will evolve very nicely when it has been decanted 3-6 hours.

This still needs time, but I'm optimistic that it'll be fantastic in, say, 10-15 years.

Absolutely phenomenal. Let it breathe for at least 45 minutes to get the full experience. If you've got some and can wait, I would - it'll evolve for a long time to come.

Wow! The last bottle of poetry. Maybe the best bottle of wine I have tasted in the last several years. Velvet with lots of fruit and some earthy leather tones. Very nice. Will visit the winery next week and hope to taste the current poetry.... Drank with steak for donna'stwo 58 th birthday

Tased at winery tasting room. Bottle had been opened several hours, but not decanted. Rich, velvety, full fruit - but very balanced. Suprisingly soft tannins for big 2007... Outstanding in all ways. Recommended to club member... and we then purchased in Fall 2011.

The 2007 is ripe, fresh, and intense. DRINK or HOLD
