I rarely post but when the CellarTracker drinking window states that this wine should have been consumed by 2013 and I am still getting enough tannin to suggest this will be drinking well years from now, be encouraged - don’t gift to poor relations! It’s delicious! Cork completed disintegrated however. Use your Ah So!

Musty on the nose which dissipates quickly. Lavender and pomegranate on the initial palate w a spicy fully integrated mid palate. Tannins fully matured as well. While a hint of green veggies apres finish appears, the wine is drinking beautifully. Drink now but no real rush.

drank along with Produttori del Barbaresco Ovello 1999, pnp. A very "hand-tamed" wine I thought after opening the bottle, everyone's taste, but short on the palate. This is not a bad wine, to be clear, but very easy, rather like a fast food cheeseburger.

still deep purple with little tawny coloring, very exuberant on the nose with plums and blackberries and other dark purple fruits, and some licorice and a touch of sweetness on the palate. Very smooth and almost non-existent tannins and low acidity. Still very much alive and i sort of wish this was not my last bottle, but time to move on .....

An expressive nose that leaps from the glass. Some definite Syrah pepper and personality. The palate entry is juicy and round with ripe cherries and blackberry, clearly more of a Merlot in character. A nice, round, juicy wine. Lacking a lot of personality and definition though. Just big, candied and a bit nondescript, lightly astringent.

Liquorice, currant on the nose with a bit of old world green/unripeness. In the mouth, definitely old world but showing some softening from age. Tannins still grab a little at the end, but noticably softening. Nice balance.

Either a great bottle or a bottle really showing its stuff now. The green / stemminess on the nose was gone. Instead there was a great, intense currant bouqet on the nose. Very approachable right now, at its peak. Flavor lasted for a long while in the mouth. Found it quite intense in the mouth when warm ... best to serve at wine cellar temperature.

Dark ruby tint. Really great nose: plums, shoe polish, blueberries, very promising. As for the palate, well, it was less impressive. Cool, blue-noted, and elegant, it opened up a bit as the evening progressed but did not sing. I really thought it had some cab franc in it (wrongo; actually merlot, syrah, and sangiovese). Medium-bodied and seamless, and enjoyable with tuna prepared with capers, tomato, and onion. Maybe needs more time.

This opened up with beautiful notes of very ripe plum and hints of saddle leather. On the palate this is bittersweet with notes of sour cherry and chocolate amidst fairly bracing acidity. Some licorice echos on the somewhat astringent finish. I'm not loving this on day 1. Maybe with a night of air it will get a bit more generous.

Served Blind - First impression suggests Italy - and Sangiovese. Certainly Tuscan. Possibly some Bordeaux varietals. Touch of brown sugar with rich red fruit. Trifle monolithic and short in the finish. Surprised I got so close - I was guessing Brunello.

Still alive, with some smoothe tannins and little acidity, rich dark fruit with licorice and tobacco notes.

Progression over 3+ hours has only made it better
Ruby colour, mild tannin, great fruit
Another perfect Ca'Marcanda

Well integrated with minimal acidity. Went well with our meal of Herbs de Provence rubbed strip steak, "osso bucco" pasta, and ratatouille.

Very tasty. Lots of tannin, but going to be a great, fruity Italian wine.
