With beef stew. Clear medium-dark crimson, good color to the rim. Nice nose, raspberry, current. Chocolate, blackberry, a touch of fennel. Nice balance between acid and fruit. Good finish. Still alive and kicking.

Dark red color. Aromas of raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and some vanilla. Grape and blackberry fruit notes dominate the palate with some finer fruit tannins framing a medium long finish. This is wearing its advertised fruit well but shows some ripeness. Drink with fuller fare. Drink or hold.

Nice balance and taking on age gracefully. Can go another year or two I suspect. But very good now with raspberry, cherry and some spice. Drinking the next by 2015 the latest. Still has some tannins to hold it together.

P&P> Pretty feminie color & density. Crappy hotel glass in BKK so nose is not giving much up. Really brambley, dusty roadside fruit picked perfectly on a warm fall day. Laid down in a barrel and allowed to mellow. These aged Zin's are so nice. I like them young too, but prefer when the oak treatment has faded to background & the unique single vineyards and field type blends come front & center. The tannins are still kickn'. This has some light glyerin feel, some density without being full bodied. This must be great w pizza/pasta. BBQ chicken. Yum.

Faint nose of cherries and a hint of cedar. Red fruits dominate the palate with lots of structure and fairly green tannins (which seem to have appeared out of nowhere since the last time I tasted this). A touch of spicy woody notes underneath. Now it presents as young and needing of a few more years of bottle age.

Restrained for a zin. Very nice with some interesting secondary notes to back up the dark fruit and spice. Drank very well on the second day. While good to go now, this would appear to hold or improve for at least a few years.

Really strong representation of old-vine Zinfandel here. Brooding nose of brambly black fruit, with an earthy spice undertone. In the mouth, lush and velvety, with a pure and almost jammy fruit. Strong acidity and tannins, as with this whole lineup. Drinking very well right now. Delightful. A-

(Incl. 15% Carignane, 2% Petite Sirah) Nose - bright, jammy, blue elderberry, smooth plum, hints of peach and blackberry, Musar-like spice. Spicy/peppery, boysenberry and elderberry, juicy, pure.

Very bright, rich blackberry and cherry flavors yielding to dark chocolate and firm, deep tannins. Less jammy and chewy than many of the Ridge zins, but a really lovely, rich, full, balanced, clean-drinking Zin. Drink now.

The best 09 ATP Zin to date- still need to try the 07 Jimsomare- which the Ridge people said is the best. Sorry for the sidetrack- back to this great wine. By far the best 06 Zin out there- I haven't had a better 06 Zin (from any other producer)! 06 A Rafanelli has nothing on this. This is a top 3 Zin YTD!!! Only the 07 A Rafanelli beats it out. Highly recommend! This is a very balance awesome Zin- for Zin lovers and haters. I can't see anyone scoring this below 90- let alone the 84 someone else gave it. It is a tad lighter Zin- but very good. Good red fruits, some spice, some acid and some heat- but like I said very balance and drinking great. I do agree that this will probably not go the distant- but from now and through the next 5-7 years drink up and be happy!

Very un-Zin-like. Starts with bright cherry flavors, then turns a tad smoky. Light in body and color, and does not linger on the palate. More reminiscent of a Pinot Noir or perhaps a Grenache than a Zinfandel. Tannins are very soft and barely noticeable. No grip to speak of. I find it hard to believe it will last the 10 years the winery claims.

Dark plum & cassis with spicy overtones went well with BBQ skirt steak.

Brambly old vine character with earthy fruit but none of the California jam. Lovely.

Tasty. I like the Carignane influence in this wine. It brings a different aspect to the Zinfandel. Smooth.

Jam and pepper. Classic zin. Disgreement between the wife and I on this one. She found it less approachable.
